    The Rod Shop tubular style IFS is engineered for easy installation, performance driving and broader range of alignment adjustments. With the popularity of HQ-WB Holdens growing every day we decided to build a no compromise front clip that will not break the bank. This front clip will provide the ultimate in handling and strength.
    The only clip on the market with dual camber curves so it performs well on the street, drag strip, or track. This front clip is based on our Wilwood spindles with bolt on steering arms. This allows the best geometry and to maximize comfort and performance.
    This front clip is a complete bolt-in package reusing factory mounting points. Open up your engine compartment and drop a range of engines on the nose of your Holden. All tig welded for the highest quality, strength and finish available. Available with dropped or stock height spindles to provide a ride height that matches your specific desires. Viking double adjustable Coil-over shocks come standard and provide further height adjustment and 361 different valving combinations for comfort and control.
    Whether you’re cruising to the show on a Sunday or tearing up the track on a Saturday the Castlemaine Rod Shop Holden HQ-WB 1971-1984 tubular IFS has you covered.

    I still remember seeing these in prototype form at the Rod Shop opening day years ago... they were rocking Corvette brake setups and I’ve wanted one ever since.
    If you ever film a how-to video on bolting and setting one of these up I’ll volunteer my HX sedan as the candidate!

      I have a wb van, brakes are my issue. Also had a 73 corvette and often wondered if the 4 piston callipers would fit. Guess the problem would be fitting wheels over them. Not that much of an issue now, my chrome GTS rims are rusty now, and can't find anyone who can re chrome them.

    Very nice. I wish you guys made one to suit the second gen camaro and firebird, with the exchange rate and shipping it's very expensive to get something like this from the states now.

    • @steveveness3829
      @steveveness3829 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would it not make sense to put original Chassis number from your specific car one ok replacement Chassis???
      After informing Vic Roads you have to use a reproduction Rod Shop Chassis to get past a bent or rusted out original Chassis clip!!!
      Over my 40yrs of trade life I have found the simplest truthful reason for modifying passes without hassles.
      As long as my attitude is right on the day of course😉🙂👍👍

    Prob;lem is that they no longer conform to ADRs. Both the front subframe and the engine are designed to bend and go under the car in an accident,
    With that nothing will. Bolting a standard front subframe up solidly will largely reduce chassis twist. But the rubber is there for insulating road noise, it also aids in the designed to bend and go under in an accident.
    And so many of those cars have twists and bends I suspect fitting this will be a potential disaster.
    And where do you get the caster? Besides cocking the top wishbones around. Which is poor from GMH. To make them turn they need modern caster settings of 6-8 degrees and you simply cannot get it with top wishbones.
    An adjustable strut [XF Style] lower control arm is required using a proper rubber bushing, ideally bigger than the Falcon one.
    Or a lower balljoint an inch ahead of the top one but even then aligning with top wishbone bolts is still not great.

      We tell everyone that buys one to speak with an engineer first to ensure that they will be approved. We have had the testing done and supply an engineers report to help with the process at the other end.

      The sedan at rear if i recall right is a single bolt set up , The wagon at the rear is a two bolt set up being a bit longer . And the wagon will fit under a sedan set up as the bolts holes are already there . I fitted a wagon chassis under a HQ Statesman ..

    Would this work in any American Made car? Do they share platforms for a Camaro Firebird?

    • @watsisbuttndo829
      @watsisbuttndo829 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im in Australia and have owned a HQ holden and still own a 65 pontiac gto. Athough both cars share the basic design pilosophy (gto is full chassis but still very similar) the holden is slightly smaller overall and these would not bolt in to both cars. Knowing what my gto handles like and the current value of the aussie dollar i think the rod shop guys would have a large market for American A bodys if they chose to make one.
