Here are some frequently asked questions about this setup. If you have any others feel free to ask here, we reply as soon as we can:
Q: How much pressure do the pumps make?
A: Out of the box, we’ve seen the pumps generate 900-1000 psi, however there is a jam nut and adjustment screw on the pump housing, we’ve found that 1.5-2 turns will return 12-1300psi of output pressure. Some data logs on Pro Drift cars have shown as much as 1500psi.
Q: How much current do the pumps draw, and how should they be wired
A: Testing has shown that the pumps can draw 70-80 amps when under maximum load, as such the wiring will need to be robust, we usually recommend the use of a high current relay, or manually resettable circuit breaker that is accessible from the drivers location.
Q: Do I need to use the smaller wires and connector for anything?
A: No. Toyota used them to control the pump via an external ecu dedicated solely to power steering, all that is required for the pump to work is the heavy gauge power and ground connections.
Q: How much noise does the system make?
A: The pumps are not overly loud, but certainly there is a noticeable amount of noise coming from them. We recommend isolating the mounting bracket from the chassis if noise is a concern, and keeping the pump out of the vehicle cabin to keep noise and vibration levels to a minimum.
Q: Can I rotate the inlet fitting to suit my chosen location better?
A: NO. If you rotate the large inlet fitting, it will leak and you will not be able to make it stop. Consider yourself warned. We’ve tried it, other people have tried it, it doesn’t work.

Could this be used as an on-demand system for rear steering on a rock crawler buggy.....basically.....the pump to a manifold that directs fluid to an 8 or 10 inch steoke 2.5 diameter housing with 1.25 diameter shaft ram....

It would be nice if they could be used as direct replacement pump for the junk BMW Mini Cooper R53 and R50 electric pump that fails and causes fires . Looks like it's smaller and would need hose and wiring adapters to connect to the existing system and maybe have to drill the mounting plate . Your system is a lot less money then the stock pump . I've just ordered a delete kit for mine because new pumps are around $1500 Canadian and remans are $700 . I'm going to leave all the original parts in place incase the delete ruins the feel .

Just bought this kit and set it up. Was also curious about the adjustment screw on the top. Guess I need to play with it to figure it out. Wish this pump worked a little more as it seems to struggle. Installed it on a 1998 Honda Prelude.
Also, what fluid do you recommend? I put in Amsoil 100% Synthetic Multi Vehicle Power Steering Fluid it shows a part number for the Toyota Electronic fluid so hope it is good.
