    They actually sound reasonably similar, but the H-pipe does give a richer, bassier overall note.

    X for more exotic tones. H for more traditional American muscle sound

    Great video. I was actually in the process of searching for a good x pipe until now. The H pipe stays!

    Push rod V8s like in the Camaro and Challenger/Charger sound better with the H-Pipe. A X-Pipe has a small advantage performance wise in the upper RPMs which gives over head valve engines like the Ford Coyote and Voodoo engines the advantage in performance because they have a higher red lines than the pushrod engines unless you mod them to rev higher. All in all it is preference which one is better. If you like a lower/base tone with an advance in torque go H-Pipe. A louder and raspy tone with more horsepower in the higher rpms then go Xpipe. I like the H-pipe in this application.

      The rasp is because of the unequal length header primaries...

    • @ragintaurusmusclemercury7023
      @ragintaurusmusclemercury7023 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Texas_Road_Warrior The x-pipe and h-pipe balance the exhaust pressure from bank to bank that improves overall exhaust flow which produces more power and torque. The difference is the x-pipe increases top end power and torque and because of that it produces a raspier sound compared to the h-pipe which works better at lower rpm. It is up to you to decide what you want. I like the traditional muscle car sound and can care less about performance at peek rpm so I use h-pipes on all my projects. Just installed one on my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. It has Kooks shorty headers, Mercury Marauder H-pipe, and Jones Flow Pack mufflers.

    Everyone says the h pipe gives deeper sound but I found the complete opposite to be true. The h pipe sounds more rowdy, like all over the place and not consistent at high rpm it just sounds odd. Low speed driving like in traffic and around town I give it the win because the downshifts and rev match shifts gives a high pitch sharp BRAP sound. The xpipe however is a deeper smoother tone that sounds incredible at higher rpm...I'm speaking of twin xpipe though not single vs a single hpipe. If I could find a combination that gives me the low speed sound of an h pipe with the high rpm sound of the x that would be golden. At idle and rev they sound similar but my findings are from driving at all speeds.

    IMO H pipe sounds better with engine greater than 5.0, old school sound. If you got 5.0 or lower X pipe sounds good. Exotic euro sound.
    Good video for comparison, but could of used a better muffler.

  • @WLAs_Finest3x
    @WLAs_Finest3x 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That Camaro sounds so good with the H pipe, but those Spintech mufflers have too much "trash can rattle" to them. If you're going to use a muffler with a deep, hollow, single chambered sound, the FlowMaster is the best. Original 40 series or the Delta Flow series which is a little quieter, but roars to life when you step on the gas. Another very good sounding muffler is the Borla S-type or ATAK muffler. That shit, with those long tube headers and H-pipe will wake that Camaro up! Great video, great car, great set up!

      @@swappedoutZ71 The Corsa muffer sounds good under throttle, but it sounds like trash at idle. The best sounding muffler with no drone or rattle is either the Flowmaster or the Borla.

    • @swappedoutZ71
      @swappedoutZ71 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WLAs_Finest3x you think the best muffler with no drone is a flowmaster? Youre drunk or high or just plain deaf lol. I have corsa on my truck and it sounds better than this camaro at idle and under load. And im catless with longtubes and cam, and still zero drone on the highway. EVERYONE i know with flowmasters has bad drone lol especially the catless setups. And flowmaster chambered mufflers dont flow as good as corsa either. Youre losing all the way around it with flowmasters lol

    • @WLAs_Finest3x
      @WLAs_Finest3x 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swappedoutZ71 Maybe I said it wrong when I mentioned drone. From my experience dealing with the Flowmaster, I like that it has that deep, hollow tone. What I meant to say is I hate the rattle and the trash can sound other mufflers make such as the Corsa, Spintech, and other systems. I'm fully aware the Flowmaster only flows at 70%, but that 's good backpressure for the exhaust valve, but the best sounding muffler for the 5th gen Camaro is the Flowmaster Delta series because it's a 3 chamber muffler, it's quiet at idle but you hear it on open throttle, and it's still kind of quiet under throttle. Overbearingly loud does not equal high performance or high performance sound, that's why I would keep the cats with long tube headers and a cam upgrade. The Borla S-type and ATAK series muffler sounds the best on that car. It sounds great on the Ford Mustang too, but the best sounding exhaust system for the Mustang is the Jack Rousch 1 and 2 exhaust.
