    I've worked on Mustangs for years and though the X Pipe gives more power, I love hearing an H Pipe with that American muscle tone the way a Mustang should be heard. My 2006 Mustang GT did lose horsepower when I switched back to an H Pipe from X Pipe but, I gained some torque and it sure puts a smile on my face!

    I prefer the tone of the H on my 19 PP1. Seems perfect with a Steeda axle back as well. Could be due to being old school coming from extended Foxbody experience, I like the lower pitched rumble but it is what it is. I don’t think you can go wrong either way...

    Had a Corsa dual helix pipe on my Shelby GT 350 with resonator delete and it sounded knarly and raspy - Ferrari like. Very European.
    Not at all like an American muscle car should.
    Swapped out for a Steeda H pipe and improved the sound tremendously. Deep throaty muscle car sound - and no more raspy cackling. Very pleased.

    I'm impressed. So glad I put the X in my car last year. I thought it gained, or feels like it at least. Now I'm not sure I gained the 8 hp you got since I never put it on the dyno, but I'd be thrilled with that gain. And the sound is awesome to boot! If someone tells me they can get me 6 extra hp just by changing 1 part, cost not being the limiting factor, and still sound hot! I'll take it. I want every advantage I can get no matter how small. Sometimes it's the small things that makes the difference between winners and well..... losers.

    • @8power857
      @8power857 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1forddan no necessarily bigger, that depends on the open header peak Hp. Careful setup and dyno trials have to be used to perfect any system. I can make up a test with full dual, x or h that will make whichever one i want look best! You cant just bang in whatever comes in a nice box and expect its correct for every combo, shelf stuff is typically made with 3 things in mind, profit, looks, to be better hp wise than stock, they are far from perfect.
      H pipe placement V collector length MUST be correct. H pipe diameter V its length is kind of important, pipe diameter after the H is very important, muffler type and tailpipe diameter(which is usually best slightly smaller) all need to be correct for your combo.
      If made correctly, h pipes make 'slightly' more peak hp and x pipes are more tunable making 'slightly' more average hp/tq in a narrow band around a given/selected a rpm.
      For a streeter choose whatever sound you like best. But realise that these youtube 'chuck on a h or x tests' are not showing you the full potential of each setup but are showing you only what a generic bolt on item does 'for the specific combo in the test'.

      @KingZD1 Do you know most S550 Mustang owners? I think not... Your statement is not a fact, merely an opinion based on the S550 Mustang owners in your local area. Also, my original comment was my opinion on sound preference, because the Coyote 5.0L engines are naturally a little raspy and an H-pipe adds more bass to the exhaust note to sound like a proper American V8 should sound. The power difference between the two is negligible. H-pipe adds a little more power in the lower RPM range and X-pipe adds a little power in the higher RPM range...

    H pipe is louder at lower rpm's because the exhaust tumbles around before exiting, at wot it acts almost as straight pipes. X pipe sounds more smooth because of better flow, the exhaust is hitting a wall as it exits. So if you like a loud exhaust at lower rpm's which in turn makes it deeper get the h pipe, like I did. Quick tip though if you get the h pipe and then delete your cats, it will change the sound a lot! The more flow, the less effect the h pipe will have on the exhaust, because the faster flow will allow more gases to bypass the "h" and it will act mostly as straight pipes. That is the issue i had and will be adding a second h pipe to help "catch" any missed gasses from the first h pipe, might even add a third who knows lol

Some cars stock for whatever reason already rev out to 7100 and do t gain as much on a tune since it is already in the power and. Either way thisnis a great dyno to show the difference on same car same day same dyno. x pipe increase is insane.. these cars are at 6000+ tpms the whole race or highway roll so x pipe is a way better option if your racing as it gives tons of power up high and consistent

    Hey Steeda - in person how much of a difference between X & H regarding sound? It's a little difficult to tell on video. I have a 2021 Durango RT, Tow N Go with 5.7 - I removed the large mid-muffler suitcase, installed X-Pipe and 2 Dynomax Race Bullet Resonators. It sounds great with no drone, but if an H-Pipe can give me even a deeper sound I'm going to replace X with an H. And does it matter how long the tube is between the 2 pipes (how big should the H be)? But this will be a $300 job and want to make sure it's worth it. THANKS! 🏁🏁🏁🏁

    • @steedaautosports

      Hey Rey - It will work since the Resonator Delete H-Pipe will mate up to what's left of your factory piping since the Corsa Sport Axle-Back connects further torwards the rear. Hope this helps! -Chris

    I couldn't notice any sound differ between x & h.. Possibly the camera not justifying it?
    & excuse the uneducated question but wouldn't 2 straight pipes be the better route for exhaust flow?

    • @steedaautosports
      @steedaautosports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      X is more high-pitched and raspy, H is deeper with a more old-school muscle car sound. In most cases, it's best to have a mid-pipe where the tubes cross to equalize the exhaust gases/pulses on either side of the engine.

      That because there should be basically no difference....think about every car manufacturer with a "performance exhaust" like the Corvette. They say it adds what? 5hp? 10hp? To the crank.....it's negligible if the headers and cats are untouched AND there is no tune update. I don't believe the hype

    377 hp that is the lowest dyno pull I've ever seen for a 2018-2021. Coyote Gen 3's are pulling 410 to 425 depending on the dyno and tranny.

    • @xGR1MxREAPERx
      @xGR1MxREAPERx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Their dyno is one that won’t let it reach full speed. It is revving out and madding the dyno out so that’s why you can see on the dyno it’s at like 6700ish. Peak power is around 7100-7300. Which is where you would get another 30-35 hp. Autos are around 405-430 stock so this is normal for such low rpm.

      @@justanotherone685 I can make your car have 350 or 425 stock lol, ju St adjusting parameters on the dyno. Don’t look into that too much. Look at the end result after mods. You can check your power with 1/8 or 1/4 mile times and speeds easily. With a certain weight car and xxx horsepower it should run xx.xx times etc. if you do the research on these cars from 2018-2021 they typically dyno 385-410 stock auto and 395-425 stock manual.

    How can you call 6 HP "impressive"? That's nothing. Less than 2% difference. You can get that much difference between two dyno pulls without making any changes to the car. Even the 9 HP gain over stock isn't something you'd ever notice on the street or track. If you are building a car specifically to run wide open then it makes sense to choose the X pipe to go with all the other mods to maximize redline performance. On the street the only difference is the sound.
