    I just bought one.
    Compared to other cars I test drive it's worth a couple extra pennies for the smile it puts on your face when you drive. I don't do boring.
    I will say I got the RT and it came in at 45,000 before tax and paper trail fees. Not the 52,000 stated here. As well hopefully the savings from having solar panels and 7,000 tax incentives I feel it was a fair price, it's a nice car.

    Ain’t no way that car is worth 50k plus for a gimmick SUV. 30-35k is still overpriced. It’s more of a 25-30k vehicle

  • @georgedoesitall69
    @georgedoesitall69 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Totally agree $35K is right price. The ride was rough even in comfort mode, but the vehicle was peppy around town. Road sound was intrusive at all speeds and interior quality while good for a 35k vehicle had a lot of hard plastics for a 50k vehicle. PHEV is a great feature but the hybrid mode is only 29 combined MPG. Many ICE vehicles can do better and when compared to the 40mpg from the much cheaper hybrid CRV or Rav4 I am not sure an argument can be made for purchasing a Hornet at $50,000 or even at the same price as the Rav4. The Rav4 PHEV is almost as expensive as the hornet RT Plus but does everything better including zero to 60. As a 6ft person had about 1 inch of head room in the front seat and my hair was touching the roof in the back seat. The Hornet is a car I wanted to love but was disappointed. When I shared my views with the sales person he said he gets that response a lot.

      @pbentsonable ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twystedhumour it’s not a “COMPACT” and the model Y has a glass roof not a panoramic roof. If you’re going to leave a rude comment get your info correct and calm down it’s a Alpha/Dodge. Well and a model y is more expensive, kinda defeats the want of a lower price.

    • @ducktails1695
      @ducktails1695 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pbentsonable The Hornet is a smaller sized CUV. It's about the size of the Jeep Compass, not to be confused with vehicles like the Ford Escape, or Honda CRV. Bigger than a Jeep Renegade, but smaller than a Jeep Cherokee.
      I'm guessing since Dodge basically took the vehicle from Alpha after they did all the work they couldn't price it where they wanted to as it would significantly cheapen the Tonale which is marketed as a luxury small CUV like the BMW X1. Of course Dodge will never admit this, but this is just my observation based on what I've seen and read.
      It's a shame this tester didn't have a sunroof because I'm guessing it would have brightened up the interior a little. Also, it lowers the headroom quite a bit if it retracts down into the roof instead of up and out like the one in the Hornet does. But just note the actual R/T Plus will have a sunroof in it as standard equipment.
      Also, if you lease the Hornet R/T, or R/T Plus you should receive the EV credit (Its a loophole since the leasing company resides in the USA) so that alone with knock the price down $6500-7,000.

    • @pbentsonable
      @pbentsonable ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ducktails1695 Yes I knew this already. I’m not the one who needed this info. It was the other commenter. I owned a newer body style Jeep Compass and it had the same size legroom as the compact class. So it’s possible to have a tweener suv have more rear legroom. The Hornet is also a tweener cause it’s bigger then a subcompact but smaller then a compact. And yes it’s basically a Alpha but it could still come down a easy $5k for all trims. It’s Just like the Supra which is a BMW but at Toyota prices. Dodge is just trying to pad their pockets. Most of the trims have an optional sunroof but cause of the supply chain issues the Hornet and other cars are being shipped without desired features. I’m 6’7” and have no issues with sunroofs, I won’t buy a vehicle without one. Lol. And yes the suv will be built here in America so it will get the rebate on the plug-in version. And Dodge will be forced to discount it considerably if they want to move this. The car market is ridiculous these days but if people are smart buyers and do their research they too can find great deals.

    I think the video maker is indeed nit picking on many features of this vehicle. I LEASED my new Dodge Hornet R/T+( 2024 Year ) in Nov of 2023. Yes, it had the $52,000 Price tag, HOWEVER what he fails to mention, at all, is that if you lease it, the Government gives you $7500.00, in New York State they will give you an additional $900 and since I was at lease end on my Jeep, Chrysler gave me an additional $2500 loyalty rebate. So, yes, I put a couple grand down also, and that put me at around $40,000. With that, you can lease it for a great monthly payment. I LOVE THIS VEHICLE!!! Mine is all blacked out and stunning. So many compliments wherever I go and it is such a better all around vehicle than this gentlemans review would infer. I HIGHY recommend. In " Hybrid Mode " even though it states around 31 Electric Miles per charge, I`ve driven for 8 or 9 miles before that gauge starts to indicate any loss. So, overall, the Hybrid saves a bunch of Gas. This car is a turd. Purchased April 2024, would not start 2 weeks later, dealer claimed the event never happen, happened 2 weeks again after dealer said to will never happen, then stopped working altogether in my garage June 2024. The only thing that works really well is the warning lights and the random car alarm. The only speed record it holds for me is it's ability to pass me off in 3 seconds after trying to start it.
    Avoid this car. If you need to get somewhere, take a bus, it will be 10x faster, and will get you there and back safely.
    There should be less videos on the performance of this car, and more on what you need to do when you get stranded 100 miles from home because this turd won't start.

    Phev's are way better than full EV's...at least for me and the way I drive! Of course one thing people don't think about and I didn't when I got my cheap lease phev... insurance. Ours went up $1600 for 6 months going from a regular internal combustion engine car to a phev.

      That’s crazy. When I leased my ‘24 R/T my insurance only went up about $7 a month. But my car payment went down about $15 a month so it was fine. For comparison I went from a ‘22 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude to the ‘24 Hornet R/T.

    The dodge websites lists the R/Ts mpgE as 77 combined. I am not sure what this means. I have been looking all over trying to get an exact idea as to what the vehicle actually gets when driving i. I just want lay mans terms, telling me an estimation of what this car gets in hybrid mode.
    It also states the information about the 30 minute full battery, and then also 360 mile range. So with an 11 gal tank, the 77 mpge isn't adding up to that... Id assume that meant 11*77, but I have no idea.
    Someone help this guy out, I'm lost.

    A plug in hybrid, statistically after a short amount of time the majority of owners don’t plug them in, so they are driving around using only a gas engine carrying a unused electric motor and batteries getting worse gas mileage than they would if it was gas only. Toyota knows this, that’s why they are not plug in. Way to go Dodge.
