It also could get far better mileage at the same time. A bit of work on making it push around less air and getting the angle of the hatch just right could make that better.
Love the fact that you shoot a panoramic view of the underside of the car. You can tell a lot about a car from that viewpoint. Love what you do! The big question is whether it will hold together unlike other Stellantis products.
Heats are seated 😂 punched a pigeon🤣🤣🤣 no, seriously, thank you Sarah I actually think it looks quite smart and from your test it seems it could be quite fun to do some mods to make it even more fun.
Who does a better car review than Sarah? Easy answer: no one! I have been watching for a long time, haven’t bought a single car, but liked every single review! Knowledge and wit with humor, is on short supply these days! Sarah has it all!
My wife had an Omni 2.2 with the VW engine in it. Beautiful little yellow hatchback that could really roar and get going. It was a fun can to throw into the corners and really hop off the line with. That was back in the mid 80s and we still talk about how fun of a car it was. So come on dodge, bring back a really fun, cheap Omni that is stick with some real performance potential or upgrades. Great video by the way. I saw the flashes of the omni immediately. Bring back that fun version.
I really appreciate how you always include if the motor has port side fuel injection or not because in my opinion that is a very important, awesome reviews as always !!!
I’m discombobulated with the drop times of these videos lately! Great review as always and really enjoyed the return of sun visor translations. 😉 You are correct… the proportions of the design would look awesome lowered. Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
Imagine a 3.0 litre Hurricane 6 cylinder under the hood, that would be a real GLH successor. A charming, spicy and fun vehicle that needs a manual and they should have made a hot hatch out of it and called it an Omni.
I bought a GT Plus as a daily driver back in June. I was attracted to it for some of the same reasons you mentioned in the review. It has excellent potential once it is modified. I'm waiting on the 2 inch lowering springs, exhaust, and tune coming from Direct Connection in the next few months. It will be quite a formidable little Crossover with those finishing touches. Excellent review of the Hornet. I'm subscribed!
@brandongordon123 I love mine. Some people have reported some glitches with software but they have since released a software update. I haven't had any problems and I love the way the GT performs. I've started purchasing some upgrade parts to do some customizing. I am very satisfied with the purchase
I agree, Hornet doesn’t really fit. I understand what Dodge is trying to accomplish with this design though. It would be sick low with a manual drivetrain. Overall a nice car for the price range. Another, most of us wouldn’t know about, without watching you. Definitely more fun than a dealership flyer.
@@GregZentTrumpetMan It really is more fun to drive a car with less horses and better handling than the other way around. Making it stick to the road in a turn by dropping the height would be nice. Really-really nice would be one of those systems that allow the car to adapt height and level the car on the fly.
My son had a Dodge Daytona it was an 80s model 4 banger with turbo an automatic an when you got on it from a start it would push you back in the seat ( I think it had a tune ) quick little car an not bad looking.
Now, that's not fair! Just when the language got interesting, we got an extended bleep. I'm continually amazed by auto manufacturers mixing metals that will get wet and oxidize.
May be an interesting project for the future,re-work a modern vehicle such as the Hornet with manual transmission, lower suspension, better brakes and a nice set of pipes…Expensive, but fun…..as to this video, another excellent and engaging review.
I had a 1986 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo in the early 90s! It was a fun and quick little car! I almost bought an Omni GLHS a few years later but bought a 1972 Plymouth Duster 340 with a 4-speed instead. No desire to own a Hornet however. Great video though!
The flashing over to an OMNI GLH is perfect - when I heard that they were going to bring back a GLH my curiosity was "peaked" I have real fond memories of riding around in my friends' (I had a few that owned GLH and GLHS back when they were a couple years old both OMNI and CHARGER) - though they say you should never meet your heroes (especially when you're an adult) - I think I would be disappointed in this version mainly because I've "grown up" and moved to cars that I couldn't imagine I'd be able to own when I was 20....
American cars are not really my thing being from the UK, but still watched because of you. The red line is definitely very short, not far off a diesel.
16:54 I enjoy the content very much, keep doing what you do. My comment is about the dimples you noted in the exhaust pipe. I’m speaking above my pay grade here but is it possible those deformations would add rigidity or reduce vibrations? 🤷
Longtime Mopar fan - but Chrysler's drive-trains are renown for being terrible. But nice to see it has a 9 speed instead of a CVT. When I heard Chrysler put the Jatco CVT in many of their models - I thought to myself "that makes perfect sense". Jatco makes Nissan's CVT. Give that one a 'goog'.
@@charliestevenson3500 I've owned a Hornet wagon and an Eagle Sport wagon, and I miss both of them. The Eagle was the rare oddball 5 speed, I was an idiot when I sold that one.
These are sharp little utes, I appreciate that Dodge even lets you choose fun color combos like Acapulco Gold over Red interior when many brands would limit you to black interior only with a fun or bright color. The Tonale is pretty nice, but there's something spunky about these Hornets that I like.
I remember an article saying that the European management of Stellantis was mad about Dodge turning the Tonale into a car almost 10.000 $ cheaper. Great review BTW,
@xscorpx yea, the list is endless of Chrysler models that are well known to be total flops. The Chrysler 200, 300, Intrepid, Dart, PT Cruiser, neon, Avenger and holy cow batman, how are they still in business? And here comes the Hornet to keep the tradition of absolute owners nightmares come true. Sadly consumers will still buy it and say they put 300k miles on it with not even an oil change with zero problems.
I just leased the Hornet RT Plus. Its super fun to drive. The RT has 288 hp with 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Mine doesn't have the track package it has the blacktop package. So far I really like the car. Not sure why its getting a lot of hate.
When the Dodge Dart came back, Dealerships all over were crushing the rocker panels trying to put them on a lift. I had one. They crushed mine. There was a whole TSB about it. These things are doomed.
I "have" a Hornet R/T plus and I love it i want to get bigger wheel walls and slam it but I was waiting to have it for a year before doing anything to it. apparently, they have an overheating issue. they had a brand new one 0 miles overheating... mines is at the dealership for a week now....
Something that you could do to take care of a few issues you have mentioned would be for you to pick one of your cars and take a trip on a scenic road that would suitable to the chosen car. You could use two cameras much like you do for car reviews except this would be a much longer drive which could then be edited down to a reasonable length. This would allow you to quickly generate a video, it would give you a 'break', allow you to enjoy your car and allow us to enjoy you using your car. How does the Hornet with MI plates get to Arizona?
@@iamgermaneprobably by road 😁
Completely agree with the hot-hatch with a manual assessment. Please, auto industry, bring back cars.
100% agree the Hornet would have been better as a hot hatch instead of as a small crossover.
Ahh yes it certainly would, probably be more fun too. Too bad everything and anything sold needs to be a crossover, welcome to 2023. 😔
It also could get far better mileage at the same time. A bit of work on making it push around less air and getting the angle of the hatch just right could make that better.
I mean people are making lowering kits for the Ford Maverick so give them time and people will make some hot hatches out of these yet
Considering the original hornet was a sedan and a hatchback/station wagon I agree.
Bottom line is crossover is gonna make dodge more money than hot hatch...
Another informative and humorous car review. I truly love how you mix tech, common sense, and smart humor in your reviews. Excellent thank you Sarah
