    Definitely looking forward to seeing the results from both. I’ve already installed the PRL intercooler with the PRL charge pipes. Made as huge difference in response, I haven’t taken the car to the dyno to see if there’s any actual hp/tq gain. The turbo sounds are definitely louder and that’s a plus in my book! Thank you for dedicating so much content towards the 10th Gen Accord.

    I live in Riyadh (KSA) which is much hotter than where you live, Chad. I installed the PRL intercooler, and I have to say that I didn't intend to have it for performance rather than taking more care of the turbo and the engine. After one year of installation, so far so good.

      @@TheLemonFactor Install went great. I think it took longer to get the bumper off than it did to install the cooler. The top two bolts for the HondaSense were a little tricky though. Also, I think the torque specs for the cooler bolts are 18 ft/lbs. I tightened to that spec and haven’t had any boost leaks.

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m glad to hear it 👍. Yes, the two 12mm bolts on the “hot” side should be torqued to 18ftlbs. The most time consuming is getting the bumper off and putting it back on 🤨

    I would definitely go with the Mishimoto intercooler over the PRL because of the attention to detail in the finishing of the product. The dimensions are similar, and the weight between the 2 are very close, but I would definitely choose the Mishimoto.

    Awesome timing Chad. Just recieved my Prl intercooler. So interested to see both but especially prl one. The Mishimoto one does look a nicer, think that's powder coated right? You really went all out physically comparing these 2 brands!!
    Also I'm a welder and I'm usually tig welding aluminum at work. It's hard to get a larger size tig weld of aluminum to look real good. So I'm fine with how the welds look on both coolers. Mishimoto one does look nicer but will that paint or powder coating cause a bit of not cooling as well as if it was raw like the Prl?

The truth is I never felt any difference (before/after) and I’ve been running jb4 map 2 since 20k miles, otherwise completely stock. So on the surface this is pretty good to see the physical differences between the two and the stock oem one. However, this is not the whole story. It's about pressure drop and flow as well across the IC. A poorly designed/engineered IC can actually give you the very little or even negative intended results. Very few sites/manufacturers talk about this. Anyone can make/fab ends and weld them to an IC core off the shelf. Not to mention the synergy of the piping on the front and rear from a flow and diameter POV, and how this works with the IC design.

    Now apparently even Accords have turbos. Funny.

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honda wasn’t alone - many auto manufacturers stayed away from turbos due to the added cost and reliability. However, with more stringent EPA requirements, a turbo helps with efficiency, especially on smaller engines.

    • @syrthdr09sybr34
      @syrthdr09sybr34 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheLemonFactor That's what's so funny about it. High revving Honda engines are perfectly suited for turbos more so than other engine brands, and enthusiasts have known this for many decades now.
      As far as reliability goes turbos have been around for a very long time, so car manufacturer hesitation was unfounded, other than the added cost.
