  • Do motor mounts / engine mounts really add any benefit as a performance mod for modified cars? How easy is it to install motor mounts on your 10th Gen Honda Accord? In this video, I'll show you HOW-TO INSTALL the upper motor mount and rear motor mount using our project car, the 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 Touring. We will be installing a HASPORT rear motor mount (A62U Street), and a Honda OEM upper motor mount from a manual transmission Honda Accord. Whether you have a Honda Accord 1.5 or 2.0, 6-speed manual, or 10-speed AUTO, you may find performance benefits in installing an engine mount as a performance mod. It's said that engine mounts help in providing a more connected feel with the car... stiffer motor mounts allow a better feel, more communication between driver inputs and steering response, braking response, handling and acceleration. Supposedly, engine mounts help prevent wheel hop in a front wheel drive car, and improve traction - we'll leave that to a future video! However, installing engine mounts doesn't come without its CONS, which include an increase in Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) felt within the cabin of your Honda Accord. Let's find out if the addition of engine mounts is the right mod for YOUR 10th Gen Honda Accord!?!
    Looking for ways to gain horsepower on YOUR 10th Gen (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) Honda Accord 2.0 or 1.5 turbocharged car - this video / channel will give you the information you need to help you make an informed decision regarding the best modifications for your 10th Gen. Honda Accord 2.0 or Accord 1.5 project car!

    I have a both 6speed upper and lower mount for my 10speed, and Honestly it’s I got no Vibrations at all.

  • @yardbird253
    @yardbird253 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I only run the upper torque mount from the 6spd. I would ditch the rear Hasport and go back to the stock OEM lower torque mount but keep the 6spd upper installed. That vibration with the more aggressive Hasport mount isn’t worth the discomfort and annoyance.

    I added Hasport top mount, but the rear is on back order. Pretty much the same experience. But I was getting wheel hop at the drag strip, so there is no going back for me. Also, I would call these torque mounts. The engine mounts are vertical. Lastly, the vibrations reduce when everything warms up. We will see what winter is like…

    I have the 62a upper only, after a few thousand miles it quieted down somewhat. But yes, the vibration on cold starts and in reverse as well as lower RPM throttle is still there.

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The low RPM throttle vibration is what bothers me the most 😕

    • @michaeljacobs300
      @michaeljacobs300 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah guys the vibration is really annoying especially low rpm. Also when you turn on the air conditioning it’s pretty intense. I think the majority of the guys that use this also want that race car field. I did put the stock motor mounts back in my car Which is 490 to the wheels. I wound up going back to the motor mounts just because I had the front end was majorly lifting up off the ground I could physically see the front and lift. L O L so for me I wish I didn’t have to deal with the rattle but I put up with it just because of the performance perspective

    This is the exact upgrade I've been thinking about doing because in my experience having multiple Poly mounts makes for a teeth chattering experience. Some persons have reported that the NVH decreases after about 1000 miles or so with the Poly mount. My engine has a lot of movement. At cold start it rattles a lot shaking the whole car and when moving from park to drive I hear the mounts creak. I had my wife switch between Park, reverse and Drive while holding the brake and there is so much movement you'd think something was broken.
    I'm still thinking about it but I'll wait on your update, hopefully there is some sort of break-in period and the NVH will fall to acceptable levels. If I was the only one driving my car I'd pull the trigger and do it because I like the feeling you described, Chad.
    How much did the MT mount cost?

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like your OEM mounts need replacing. I have not noticed any decrease in NVH, nor should there be. I’m going to guess that the reduction some people are experiencing is due to interior panels shaking out of the original positions into a new one that us not heard - not a good thing. The mounts themselves should not change after 1,000 miles.

      Most likely it's from the CV axles. BTW, they are consuming parts and they need to be either replaced or rebuilt at some point all depending on mileage, driving style or road conditions. Many people, don't pay attention to that.

    • @thisguyfuc
      @thisguyfuc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s stiffer, the stock one is plastic the after market ones are metal, they allow more vibration therefor more noise.

    My 21 Accord 2.0T Touring has me contemplating going back to OEM Style Mounts in my 08 TL Type S. Maybe I'm getting old, but the 62A mounts in that car have quite a bit of vibration.
    PRL recommends replacing a mount to install their front pipe on the 2.0T Accords, why do they?

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea why PRL would recommend that 🤷‍♂️

    • @AustinWoll
      @AustinWoll ปีที่แล้ว

      PRL’s recommendation may be based on the reduction in size of the flex joint on their front pipe compared to OEM. So they recommend the upgraded torque mount for a reduction in engine movement in order to protect the exhaust parts from too much stress.
