  • Mishimoto Air Intake How-To Install, Sound Clips, & DYNO tested! Part II of our Honda Accord Air Intake comparison / shootout, in which we're testing and comparing air intakes; PRL HVI Air Intake, aFe Takeda Air Intake, Mishimoto Air Intake, PRL Stage 1 Air Intake System, PRL Panel Air Filter, and the OEM / stock engine air filter! As arguably the most popular aftermarket modification for the 10th Gen (2018+) Honda Accord, we've created a multi-part video series in which we show you how to install the air intake, hear air intake sound clips in various driving conditions, and DYNO test each to see how their performance / how much additional horsepower and torque can be gained, in order to provide you with the information you need to determine which Honda Accord air intake mod is right for YOUR Accord project car! Whether you're looking for performance / horsepower gains, or just to hear the sound of the air being sucked into the turbo / engine, this video series will provide you with the information needed to help you decide if a K&N panel air filter, PRL panel air filter, PRL Stage 1 Air Intake System, PRL HVI, AEM air intake system, Mishimoto air intake system, aFe Takeda air intake, Injen air intake, etc is the best air filter intake system modification for your (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) Honda Accord 2.0 or 1.5 project car.

    Very informative, great video. like I said before I have the Mishimoto intake on my 21 2.0T Sport. Your testing just confirmed what I thought about the change from the Stock Air Intake. About a third of the Performance that Mishimoto claims... However Minimal gains is much better than NO gains so I guess it wasn't a waste of $350. Intake on a stock car won’t do much now put an intake and take it for a tune it’ll make a difference. If you get a type r turbo swap and catless down pipe the stock intake will become a restriction period. It all depends on your mods.

    Hey Chad. Thanks for the videos! I’ve been following along because I really enjoy your videos, but I have the 1.5t. I was wondering if you could address how your modifications could translate to anyone in my position. Are all your modifications compatible with the 1.5t (CVT)? • @TheLemonFactor

      Thank you, SergioGDP for the support! As the 1.5 is a different engine I wouldn't want to make any guesses regarding the gains. However, if I were you, in your situation, I would say that the results of the tests at least directionally would give you some indication, but that's also assuming that the air intake setup is at least very similar to the 2.0 (which I don't know if it is).

    Just recently saw a video from Hondata stating that the new FL5 Turbo installed on the Accord 2.0t gives it impressive power all across the rev range. Also,a couple of tuners told me(at least for the Type R) that the factory intake is the best for performance unless you’re going for aesthetics. Not sure about the stock Accord intake but I find it interesting that it has the same box compartment built into it just like the new Type R.

      I've heard this on forums as well, that the stock intake is as good as even the best option among aftermarket intake options.

    • @justwingingit1
      @justwingingit1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fireemblemaddict128 I don’t know honestly regarding the FL5 Turbo vs the Mitsubishi Stage 2 but I’m going to ask Church Performance when I get to that stage. That’s where Hondata shoots all of their videos and they are very knowledgeable on what works better etc. Speaking for myself and having owned a couple of CTRs that were slow off the line…it’s nice driving the Accord 2.0t Auto with quick acceleration…so I’m going to go with whatever choice gives power all across the rev range(FL5 Turbo). Other choices are the RV6 660,27Won KURO etc. but having said that…I know Church still recommended the Mits. Stage 2 because of their engineering and how many turbos that they manufacture number wise.

    Commenting in case someone gets the same problem... I had my battery disconnected for way too long while doing the steps by steps and my immobilizer (anti-theft) got engaged. The way to remove the anti-theft (flashing red light) is to step out of the car, lock the doors, unlock the doors, sit and press on the brake HARD and as you press you start accessories (you should not see the red light anymore) then you can start the car.

    Hi Lemon Factor, I have a lightweight NST crank pulley they I never installed on my 2.0t can I donate it to you and mail it to you have you dyno it? Thanks.

      That’s very nice of you, thanks! I think I’ll pass at this time. Why don’t you hold onto it, or sell it?

      @@TheLemonFactor My mechanic refused to install it and said the lightweight crank pulley will damage my engine due to no harmonic dampener. I spoke with several other people on accord x forums and I guess the stock crank is forged so it shouldn’t cause too many issues on a car with stock turbo. I spoke with some performance shops and they said anything over 400whp should have a dampener because even if the engine is internally balanced the crank can still flex under power due to the lighter pulley. I had an Unorthodox racing aluminum crank pulley on my v6 accord with no issues but that’s naturally aspirated the 2.0t is capable of more power especially torque. I might sell the pulley since it might not be worth the risk for just 5-10 whp.

      I’m not surprised to hear that, I’ve heard similar regarding the use on this platform. However, I have not done any research myself.

    Can I leave the af box cover off? Will it hurt anything?

    • @TheLemonFactor

      You’ll hear more of the intake sounds, but you’ll also allow more hot air from the engine bay to be pulled in, which will negatively impact performance.

    I installed the air intake on a 2022 Honda Accord 2.0 however the check engine light came on. Is this normal?

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  ปีที่แล้ว

      If installed correctly, you should not have a check engine light. Take a look at one of my install videos to see where the problem may be. Make sure that the MAF sensor is installed properly.

      The air intake cutout that is behind the bumper is behind what I think you’re looking. It’s not a structured piece you can point out, rather a simple rectangular hole. If you shine a light through the top you can look through the bumper to see where it shines out from. Hope this helps.
