Yes! From long Covid. He really helped me get going and move back into life. He told me "you have to learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable". He really helped me not to feary symptoms and really helped me titrate my activity so that the PEM wasn't overwhelming

We are always told that hormetic stress and exercise is healthy but the more that I watch and read about people like Tanner, myself and many, many others on Raelan's channel who trained frequently, I am beginning to think that maybe it isn't. This has been hard for me to accept, as exercise has been a huge part of my life for the past 20 years. Great interview. Thank you, Raelan.
I hear you , as an ex athlete I struggle too… however I think it’s a tight rope… as when I did absolutely nothing no hormetic stress I just stagnated into nothing - the day I started 1 minute of walking - or 1 push up - or 10 minutes of Masters studying and ice baths - I started to build better tolerance and recovery. Now can we fully push I don’t know yet some say yes some no, and maybe not everyone. But if I had to bet… I’d say finding your nervous systems tolerance and simply tickling it each day until you can tolerate / do more is the way forward
@@MrKelso85 I agree. I think the term 'exercise' has different meanings for different people. My exercise routine consisted of 6 days a week. Weights. Burpees. Jump rope. Sprints. Ice baths and saunas. Now that I look back, that is ALOT of stress. Like, a crazy amount. Now, I personally believe that simply walking is the healthiest and most natural form of exercise that god intended. It's a stress reliever, releases endorphins and is very, very low stress and low impact. Our society has built this idea around fitness and how it needs to be torturous and uncomfortable with the 'no pain no gain' theory. I used to buy into that. Needless to say but.....no more.

I agree with walking and light swimming seems to be tolerable and bizarrely Sex seems to be ok to a degree despite Heart rate rising significantly which I find fascinating. It’s all a Neuronal minefield to figure out but it’s hard going from training like an animal to training like a kitten. One must be grateful for marginal gains here I guess. really helpful to have it all explained so comprehensively, that in itself has a healing impact on me, as my nervous system is able to hear the truth in it all and as a result calms down. Being shared by some one who is expert by experience, backed up with all the other information, works out as some sort of brain training. As it counter balances the fight and flight part of my brain. I need to have loads of these kind of messages to help me ground myself in this truth and slowly start to embody that more and more! Developing a new kind of basic trust within myself and life. Thank you both. And so well done Tanner (snd your partner) to work yourself through that time at such a young age, which much have been so sticky and challenging!

But as I was driving and listening to this interview, I thoght how wonderful my day would be, having plans to go to pool with my kid. And the second thought stike “you are in chronic pain, may be you are not up to wonderful day”. And I said, omg all that time I was focused on allowing myself to feel the bad emotions, but I also banned myself to feel all the good, uplifting, inspiring emotions!

This channel has been so helpful for me. I'm making progress every month. I'm not back to " "normal" quite yet but I'm accomplishing things finally. Getting things done. Started being able to drive short distances when I have the energy to, even. Recovery is possible and is a natural byproduct of this work!!

I like this interview as there is so much wisdom so generously shared but its hard to take it all in. I really prefer the videos where it feels like there is more of a conversation between you and the intervieweee rather than a monologue. maybe thats just me! anyway i love what you do Raelen its so valuable and has been key to my recovery 🥰
Its a mind/body issue. However, mold toxicity for example, can make the whole situation worse. So, solutions can be actually easy and complex at the same time.
I have found it really helpful because it has helped me dramatically reduce and stop all anxiety and difficult emotions I repressed and never dealt with. So now exposure to certain people due to trauma is much easier for increasingly longer durations. Endometriosis pain reduced a little (almost totally with panchakarma). The point is to stop the anxiety, CPTSD, etc. to teach the brain and nervous system we are safe.
Lovely interview. Your channel is a hope for us. Can you please interview people with so-called symptoms of 'dementia', 'hand tremors'. All the scans are not telling us anything. Age is 70. Fitness = very fit. Nutrition = excellent. Yes had football concus in early days but no test showing 'physical brain damage'. Symptoms have gone on for over 2 years now. Somedays he just needs to sleep all day long, to recover. No recurring thoughts. Like what do we start exploring when the body just sleeps, 'to recover'...
So how do you stop the things you can’t control ? Not everyone can quit their job and get another less stressful one, which makes less money which doesn’t put food in the mouths of their family. So how do you navigate that?
No worries. Accept that you prioritize money over your health. The medical system will be glad to continue having you. And maybe the govt will pick up the bill for you if you get sick enough.
I think it's up to you to decide if your work situation is draining and exhausting but you have the ressources and stamina to well cope with it, or if it's chipping away at your health and you're better suited in another position..
Hey! Just keep doing the best you can in your own time, we all don’t start of at the same places, some people have resources we don’t have and we have some others don’t. Like you said we can’t control everything, all we can do is have compassion for ourselves and put one foot in front of the other and try not to compare. All the best ❤
I think you have to develop a different relationship to the things that stress you out but you can't change. I couldn't quit my job even though it was a huge stress for me. Tanner helped me approach my job differently, set boundaries, and leave things at work rather than bringing it home. It was a huge shift for me.
Well i feel very scared now because i dont have a partner or any family near me. Im at breaking point with my nervous system in constant fight flight. Can you Raelan or Tanner help me or am i doomed😢
Of course you're not doomed! Even without the support of a partner or family, you still have yourself. I think with such an illness you truly have to become your own best ally, cheerleader, mentor, supporter, coach, comforter..
Find a therapist who can help you with co regulation. Someone who will listen and be with you and help you feel aafe in the moment. Somatic practitioners are key. You can come out of this. I did. It’s slow but steady - do work with someone. Google Embodied Processing. There may be a practitioner near you.

Pain in chest racing heart constantly in the toilet it feels like the body is breaking down. I'm 60 so I feel very unloved and scared and so scared of the symptoms. PTSD for 5 years, therapy not helped at all, just makes me worse.

People who recovered and moved into coaching or creating recovery programs are the unsung heroes of our community, whom the healthcare system has left behind. They are also more likely to speak publicly, as it's not easy to open up on TH-cam and talk about such a traumatic experience. And yes, sponsored interviews are marked as "paid," as required by TH-cam. If there is no "paid" mark, the guest was invited to share their hard-won knowledge without any sponsorship or financial compensation. It's mind-boggling that there's hardly any questioning when medical professionals charge for their services and deliver nothing, yet those who have walked this path and stayed in the field to help others are suddenly expected not to need to pay their bills?
Quite frankly nowadays they are so many not useful, unfulling jobs, which are also a factor why people get sick in the first place, that it isn't surprising at all that people after experiencing a chronic illness change their careers... And it is clearly a lacking market. I take notes from some videos and discuss with my psychotherapist (to whom I'm the first patient with long covid) and recently we set some goals and homework inspired by the videos. The fact that something has a pricetag doesn't mean one is forced to buy

What about if you have CIRS, mold toxicity, MCS, very hypersensitive smell, possible Lyme. Is this all able to be cured with mind body healing?

I have found it really helpful because it has helped me dramatically reduce and stop all anxiety and difficult emotions I repressed and never dealt with.
