    Following your instructions led to repeated yawning, which I understand is a sign of parasympathetic nervous system dominance. Simple, and effective. Thank you very much!

    So many other videos discuss the faulty signaling of the brain and how that creates a chronic pain/symptom loop when there is no current structural damage or condition to cause the pain and/or symptoms, or it is long after any damage has healed. But you are actually going past that discussion and teaching what to do about it! Thank you so much for this.

    It took me a long time to find the answers to my condition. I found that I had to take control of my recovery as the first professionals I consulted with had absolutely no clue. I could have listened to them but the pain drove me to keep searching. Thank goodness for the Internet! I've learned huge amounts about my body. I spoke to a brilliant physio in America to get a recommendation for a physio here in the UK. If you want to get out of your pain, believe that you can. Make it your total mission to keep looking and studying until to achieve your goal. You can do it. You can.

    Hi, I have spent two years struggling to walk due to pulling/tearing my hamstring repeatedly; at least once a week. I am stuck in a cycle where it starts to recover, but I constantly feel pain, the muscles spasm and I pull the muscle again. I have worked hard physically to get the muscle stronger between the pulls and I know there should be no reason for it to pull. I have been so frustrated and confused as medical experts have been unable to arrest this cycle. Having been pointed in the neuroplastic direction, it seems to explain my issues for the first time. I have started to follow your advice, and it is tough as the pain messages are extremely strong…but I have noticed progress even after a few days. I have a long path ahead yet, but for the first time in two years I have hope of returning to normality. Thank you.

      Oh mr Murtagh, you were a little sneaky adding in about energy going up and down the spine, and out the crown of the head. My daughter has definitely experienced this new level of healing that no one prepared us for. (Which I totally understand since an awakening does happen to everyone or when you expect it to.)
      It has led her in a completely new direction seeking completely new information. But no matter which direction she goes, she always comes back to these messages of safety. She finally feels balance, peace, harmony, and joy. It is such a blessing to have my daughter happy and healing again.

    Excellent video and very helpful. Just what I needed in my feed today. My chronic pain journey is finally coming to an end after a devastating orthopaedic injury (3 years on) and what you stressed about telling the body it is safe and okay was game changing for me. When a body is in so much pain you just get desperate and think any little odd pain means something must be terribly wrong. I had all the scans to prove everything was repaired and needed to train my brain to stop fearing the worse (not an easy task and it took time, but I stuck with it).

    Hi Tanner, I've recently discovered PRT and feel hopeful for the first time in two years. I have days where I clearly see that my pain is neuroplastic and I do somatic tracking and feel like I'm getting there but then I have days when the pain gets the better of me and I get really discouraged again and I start to think that the pain is a result of my neck problems and I start to feel fearful and trapped again. (I have chronic fatigue and bad anxiety too.) Today I tried to get back on the horse but it feels like an uphill battle. I think I can't get better if I'm on the horse for a few days and then fall off and feel like I'm back at square one.
    I really appreciate all the somatic tracking exercises you are posting. Thank you.

It would be so helpful to me if I knew certain symptoms other people cured them with these techniques. I hear a bunch of stories on the podcast specifically about pain. But I have a lot of i guess Flu like or covid like symptoms. Again doctors found nothing wrong) The * ones I need most convincing about. Hi Tanner,
    I have a couple of questions for you. 1) Do you recommend that I incorporate methods of distraction into my daily routine (and by “distraction” I mean things like Sudoku puzzles, crossword puzzles, singing, drawing/painting, etc). Because it’s probably best if I’m not focused 100% of the time on my pain, am I right? And if you recommend these distractions, how much time do you recommend I spend on them? 2) If I spend a half hour daily working with this video (and I use this 10-minute one 3x a day) is that enough to get an eventual effect? I use the term “eventual” because I realize it may take several months before I notice a difference.

    • @painpsychotherapy
      @painpsychotherapy  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      1) Instead of distracting a focus on leaning into pleasant experiences can be helpful. Of course some strategic avoidance can be useful briefly. 2) This practice can be helpful for unlearning pain or symptoms. However also focusing on nervous system regulation and emotional processing is key!

    As with Somatic Tracking, i'm always a bit afraid to be too serious and to do somatic tracking only to try to get rid of the pain. When i'm done or in the end of the exercise my thoughts are always "is the pain gone now?".. I know its stupid.. and I know its only a thought.. but it feels like a bit of pressure. How am i sure, that i'm am doing it without pressure ? Should i just dont care afterwards or what?

    Hey Tanner, I hope it''s okay if I ask a question. What is your view on moving while you're in pain? Some theories on neuroplastic pain say to wait till the pain is better, and then start moving again (I mean this on a day to day base - sometimes there's more pain and sometimes there's less), but other theories say that you should also move when you feel pain and hence 'prove' to your brain you can move and that the pain is not necessary. What's your experience with this?

    • @painpsychotherapy
      @painpsychotherapy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question. It can really vary person to person. Generally with graded exposure to movement there is going to be pain, however we want to ensure we aren't pushing through high pain. If you are worried it can be useful to get the approval of certain movements from a physician. Keep going!

      I learned guide that helped me: discomfort vs actual pain. The first is just that uncomfortable but tolerable (last few hrs) vs the second (lasts to next day or more.) Learning to lean into painful sensations (just past comfort zone) bit by bit using breath and knowing you’re safe help. But as Tanner said clear any ‘pain’ sensations w/MD and or prof’l health practitioner you work with ie physical therapist.

    Can I ask since it’s always where I’m
    Stuck. It started for me from an injury 5 years ago. Body compensating everywhere for something I cannot fix. Do you call misalignments, body compensations nothing wrong with the body? I’m trying to understand what merits “there’s nothing wrong with me” (herniated discs, misalignments, old injuries, soft tissue damage etc etc) does this all fall
    Under this category ? I mean if nothing was wrong at all no one would have pain and symptoms to begin with. This is what most TMS coaches do not clarify.

    • @painpsychotherapy
      @painpsychotherapy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. Pain and physical symptoms can be triggered and perpetuated completely from our nervous system being stuck in a state of survival, and no injury even needs to be involved in triggering the symptoms in the first place. This is part of being human. All the issues with the body you mentiomed can be normal abnormalities we have and can occur without pain or symptoms. Of course it is important to consult with your physician about this. Hope this helps!

Right now I have pelvic pain (CPPS) co-morbid with IBS, and with an overall state of depression/chronic fatigue. I know that IBS for years has been described as a gut-brain axis issue, so really it obviously fits into the MBS mode. CPPF and CFS I've come to realize are also neuroplastic.
