Ok. So I tackled the job of replacing the driver side 3rd row seat motor yesterday. I bought the OEM motor from Amazon for $230 bucks. Let me say. It's taken 6 hours Over the course of 2 days to finish this. The job wasn't hard, it was the weird placement of bolts and me "Macguyvering" my way to get them off.
The top bolt of the bracket hidden inside the leather upholstery was 1 of the hardest to tackle. I had to really push and pull the fabric up to reach it. The designers of this vehicle really did not want us to do this work ourselves the way they designed it.
Also, using the torx star bit to remove inner screw from seat and bracket was a challenge.
If I didn't have those two instances I would've finished this job in less than 75 minutes with the right tools.
But thanks to this video it gave me a guide of what to look forward to. It also reiterated I needed to upgrade my tools.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!!

Thank you, some of your tips on bolt locations and types really helped! We struggled w getting the upholstery up far enough to work with that upper side one but wrestled through. Thank you 👍

I've literally been living with this problem for the past 6-7 years. Lol. Its gotten to the point where I don't even think about it. But now that I'm hauling a lot of photography gear I really can use the space that it takes being upright. THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. You provided me with the confidence to tackle it myself. I will be ordering the motor this week.

Good video; gotta do this to our 2007 Explorer left side. A little trick I use for those hard to reach bolts when putting back in; take a little piece of paper towel (sometimes use electrical or duct tape) and put over head of bolt and push into socket. Then start by hand, then wrench it so no cross threads.. Sometimes you get lucky and can use the paper towel for two or more bolts.

Thank you so much for this video. I ordered the part from Amazon for $140 and was able to complete this in a few hours with the help of your video. The upper (hidden) topmost bolt on my 2006 Mountaineer was a lot harder to get to than it appeared in the video. I had to squeeze a 12mm wrench in there to work the bolt out. Other than that, it was pretty smooth sailing although some of the bolts with loctite put up a pretty good fight.

If you had loosened the upholstery you would have had better access but the bolts are locktight secured and hard coming out. I removed the whole two seat assembly because my seat was in the folded position which made it a little easier to get at and see the bolts.I had the vehicle given to me and am still working on it, not put back together yet.

While I do appreciate the effort made to create your video, much of what you were working on, we (the audience), could not see. Those were the critical pieces for me. Perhaps camera placement, perhaps bring the camera over for us to see into the work areas, would be useful for future videos. For me this video was a miss.

Thank you. I watched the videos of how people destroyed their cars trying to rig it up and make it work, because they were too cheap to buy a motor. I don’t understand people pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for a car but They won’t pay for repairs.

The left rear 3rd row seat works but it goes up and down with a struggle. Kind of like a clicking noise. Not a smooth up and down like right side seat. Any ideas?

The last bolt you removed from the driver side seat bracket isn't an inverted torx as stated. It's just a torx. Inverted torx sockets are female and labeled as E13, E15, E18 and so on. Good job with the video though. Thanks.
