I think you'll thoroughly enjoy the Minn Kota, I have the same one on my 19' scout and fish out of Charleston SC. After 3 years, I can't imagine fishing w/o it, it's completely transformed my time on the water. Also I've had zero issues w/ it over 3 years (my friends w/ the auto deploy can't say the same).

We run a Minn Kota with spot lock on our fresh water fishing boat and it really does work well, so with some practice and luck I'm sure yours will faithfully hold you in place too!! Side scan and spot lock, are in my opinion the two biggest game changers for inshore and nearshore fishing. Finding structure with the side scan, and the ability to click on a rock that’s 400 feet to your side and lay down a waypoint is how I’ve found so many fish. Reef fishing with spot lock is the only way to do it. I don’t think I’ve used an anchor since they invented it.
Guys, I strongly suggest getting the deck mounted support for the head of that new trolling motor. It is made by Minn Kota and runs about $70 and folds down if desired. It will keep the electronics in the head of that $3k motor from smacking on the deck on a choppy day.
What a beautiful boat for the flats. I could catch redfish in the morning then head up the Manatee to the River Roo for some lunch. May need to get one of those over here in Bradenton. Anyone want to trade a boat for a new lawn? 😁

That new boat is incredible!! Wishing you all the best of luck with it!! You are gonna love that trolling motor, especially when fishing in the back. I have the same one on my 23" Carolina Skiff and it is a total game change when flounder fishing up here in Avalon, NJ. Plus, using Spot Lock to hold you over structure is awesome! I've got a couple videos up on my channel using the Minn Kota to hold over structure while tog and triggerfish fishing. Enjoy the new boat!!!
Lol didn’t take long to switch from “what is this thing for there are wires everywhere” to “wow look we are in the same spot, this is great” hahah trolling motors are the bees knees. Makes fishing so much easier. No more planning drifts or putting an anchor out just to check if the fish are biting. Surprised they aren’t on the freeman yet, been seeing the super long shaft trolling motors on offshore boats pretty often.
