TYPICAL! After two years of frustration I have just undersold my lovely 98 because of its inconsistency. Blindingly accurate over more than 60 yds and was my go to 50yd competition springer but the increasingly frequent vertical flyer was ruining my groups. I knew it was something to do with the heavy barrel as my 95 did not have the same problem. I now use my reliable and accurate TX instead. My 35 is just as accurate and makes a nice change, and then there is the Prosport for when it gets too boring!
My 98 is doing still fine but i wonder if the chisel spring is also getting weaker after many years and needs to be replaced. Maybe a little washer under the spring to add more tension will also help. I guess the chisel spring won't be totally compressed and there will maby be place for a washer. The cisel will also wear if the metal is softer than that from the breech block. These are the parts i keep always very well lubricated as well the barrel latch from the 35. The 98 should also have had a barrel latch...Cheers!
ooooo nice must admit mine is cock on . just about broke in with the full tbt kit and is blisteringly accurate. however great video . possibly the next job on the list 👍
Hi Nick, like watching your videos, learning alot, would like you to do one on the Walther lgv competition ultra.Think they have a much better lockup system as the hw's😊😊
What great video 👍🏻 is this a problem with all Weihrauch brake barrels? I've ordered a brand new 80 in 20 calibre which will be arriving next year, I will be fitted one of your Short stroke kit in,is it worth me doing this as well?
No mate, it's not a problem on all weihrauch brake barrels. I never had a problem with that but the 98 has the heavy barrel sleeve and sometimes this happens on this model. Keep the chisels, detent balls and barrel latches on any break barrel always very well lubricated.
Be carful HW owners whit the barrel screw DO NOT OVERTIGHT IT , however I made that mistake and you will damage those parts it’s the only thing I do not like about HW, ,,,,, I wish HW made that part like DIANA RIFLE , different and I like better , what I think is just been be careful and not over tight it 👍👍 by the way I love my HW98👏👋
The cocked barrel should just stay in any positon by it self, than you got the right bolt tension and beware unscrew the nut first because de difference is hard to see. The nut is always on the right hand side. Cheers!
They are a great rifle, love mine, and now they are screw cut with the designated Weihrauch hw98 moderator, they handle better and are a lot quieter, well they are to someone who understands quality spring rifles.
TBT my new favorite channel.

You can get the spring as a replacement part. Part nr 9028 if I’m correct.

Keep the chisel or detent ball on every breakbarrel always well lubricated, as wel the barrel latch of the 35 or LGV's Those are wear parts. Cheers!

Barrel tension on break barrel weihrauchs is important. The hw98 needs different tension due to the heavy barrel

It is only the extra weight of the 98 barrel that creates a potential issue👍
awesome
Wouldn’t it be great if HW made a couple of fixed-barrel sliding breech rifles? Then the whole latch thing is avoided. We can dream I suppose.

If you strip a HW98, then strip what you’ve stripped, you’ll find a HW99S.
Nice video 🖖
We need more very close up videos, I can't see the most time what you are doing. 😕
