The best fan service moment for me was when "The best is yet to come" starts playing when entering the helipad in MGS4. In combination with the flashbacks it makes me tear up every time.
I’ll never forget that moment. I actually thought that dream sequence before was snake going back to shadow Moses, and in Kojima’s 4th wall breaking way, he’s saying “listen I’m not gonna animate shadow Moses again, so you’re going to play the PS1 version of the game to go back to shadow Moses”. Then he wakes up. After that, approaching in the snow and not being able to see anything, I couldn’t tell where I was. Then as you said approaching the helipad from the east instead of south, I still didn’t recognize what was happening. Then, the music kicks in, and I figured out I was coming from the east, and that’s when I lost it. Possibly my favorite memory from video games ever, and something only achievable in this medium of entertainment.
Yeah, i can't say a video game ever made me so emotional except for when we returned to shadow moses. It was so nice to explore the old map i used to play religiously. I've probably beat MGS1 over 1000 times. It's my favorite game
Grey fox death was so sad, him telling snake to tell Naomi and she never found out. Snake was a true friend to the end and didn't want Naomi essentially hating her only family.
Naomi dying on Shadow Moses was also fitting because it's where Frank Jaeger, AKA Grey Fox, AKA the cyborg ninja, also died. Him being her older adoptive brother.
I legitimately did not know about being able to control the guards during the chase sequence at the end. Man, this video went by too quickly. Great job as always, Kai
Also another eastern egg where the game directly breaks the fourth wall is when you fight the Hind D BEFORE the fight change your TV audio to Mono, then when you call Campbell he will try to give you advice about how you can spot the Hind by the sound but if they detect you having a Mono TV they will make fun of you (the player) for not having an stereo TV
I remember when I was a kid, me and my father used to play MGS1 together. There is a section where you have to take the rope from the bottom floor, and the enemies chase snake to the roof by climbing a very long staircase. After the Hind D blow off the connection bridge you were suppose to use the rope. Since me and my father’s english are not good and we don’t know what rope means, we have stuck at that part for 2 weeks. One day my father told me that he try knocking on walls from the building’s bottom to the roof to see if there’s any fragile wall and can blow up with the C4. I was impressed with his effort and we laughed together after we found out that it is a rope instead of a golf club and passed that section😂 MGS1 is my favorite game of all time
There's some things that I didn't know you could do in this game. Where you use the box inside the truck or destroying the statue's faces in order to get away Mantis' control over you.
This game was far ahead of its time. Did you know you can also skip the rooftop fight with the hind d? You climb the first tower to the half way point where the frozen door is and you position snake close to the door and then get a chasing guard to deal damage to snake, if done correctly snake will take damage and get a frame of invincibility when he starts to blink and be pushed backwards towards the door fazing through the door collision and triggering the transition through the pathway to outside, this skips the rooftop fight and can shave minutes off a speedrunners playthrough.
Ah the good ol Boba Skip. I’m gonna drop some info here, purely for new Metal gear fans that wanna mess around with glitching MGS1. IF you do the boba skip, it complicates things some. You can’t skip the hind fight unless you pick up the stinger on the other side of the bridge, and use the weapon glitch to get rid of it. Due to the way this game’s progress works, certain weapons are only usable after certain parts of the game. For the Stinger, I believe the trigger that makes it usable is the rappel scene. Boba skip also skips that, so the stinger won’t be usable, when you pick it up the ammo will show 0/0. So boba skip actually makes skipping the hind fight a MUST. And doing that is…complicated. You have to pick up the stinger, go through the door into the stairwell in the 2nd tower, but DON’T go around the corner to the elevator. SAVE THE GAME HERE. Go down the stairs all the way until you get to the broken flight at the bottom and a small cutscene triggers. After that go back up to the door you came in from and do the weapon glitch while still in the stairway. You have to perform the weapon glitch in a specific way to get rid of the stinger and then go around the corner to the elevator. Doing this prevents the otacon cutscene from triggering, allowing you to skip the elevator fight and go right up to the top where the hind fight is. Run all the way up and climb the ladder to the hind fight but DO NOT go outside. Hind requires the stinger, which you don’t have. You’ll softlock the game. Instead go back down the ladder, and back down the stairway, minding the camera turrets on the way down. Once you go down to where the elevator is, you’ll see the crates in your way blocking the stairs, as they should be. You have to run down the stairs towards the crates, carefully. Snake will eventually glitch on top of the crates, but be very careful not to run off the other side of the crate. Again, softlock. You’ll be glad you have that save. Anyway, to finish up; once snake is positioned on top of the crates, stop, and run directly off the side immediately to your left, towards the elevator. If done correctly, you should fall all the way down to the bottom floor, at which point you’re free to just run out and start the 2nd sniper wolf fight :) be sure to go back up and get the stinger again after you beat her though. You need that for Rex. I know that was a lot, but Metal gear glitches are sometimes interconnected and can break the game if not done in the correct order. Happy playing!
The difference between reindeer and caribou is that caribou would be found in the wild and reindeer is in captivity. At least that's what was taught to me up here in Alaska.
There is a second effect on the bandana ; shot any weapon until the ammo turns red then equip the bandana now all your ammo will be red and if my memory won't fail me you will never miss and you will do extra damage
01:40 Really? -1°C? At night? Meaning snow is melting during daytime, and it's actually *warm* in the sun. That's considered spring-time weather where I live. "Extremely cold" lol, as a kid I regularly bicycled to school in -25 to -30°C with just boxers under my jeans. I just googled it as well, and apparently it doesn't get cold there even during December-January.
Yeah daytime temperatures in the region are rarely below freezing, even in the coolest month. Significant persistent snowfall is not common on the fox islands at low altitudes. This is just a case of a person who had never been there writing a story about it without doing enough research.
When i lived in detroit i use to walk home in at least -5 to -10 degree weather or colder every day by the time i got home, went back out and chilled w ppl n came back home to unk crib...on the way back when id check the temperature my sanyo burner (this was 07-08, pre bailout detroit) n the weather "app" would show was ALWAYS BELOW ZERO from November to very late january...i say "app" bc iphones didnt come out til after i was locked up out there on my YO bid for unlawful possession
You forgot to mention in the Bring Me The Horizon song Shadow Moses, they sampled the song “The Best Is Yet To Come”, the song that plays in the beginning of the Cavern level and in the Credits. It’s right in the beginning of the song.
Coming back here in mgs4 was in my opinion one of the greatest moments in gaming and the cherry on top was fighting in freaking Rex that absolutely blew me away
2:53 wait, I forgot all about this! Can someone remind me where the truck takes you? 12:30 I'm dying at Sniper Wolf shooting Snake all the way back to the door. how do you trigger this?
Dunno if it’s been said yet, but at 12:11, you start talking about the weapon glitch for sniper wolf. Something to mention is that while this is fun & easy enough to pull off, players need to beware. You CANNOT touch ANY walls or columns once you glitch the border, until after sniper wolf is beat. If you do, the game soft locks and you will have to reset the game and start from your last save, if you have one. Awesome facts throughout the video, just had to add that in case someone wants to mess around and try it out, i don’t want them to bug out lol Also, the weapon glitch is the secret to skipping over half the game, but I’ll let you figure that out for a future video ;)
fun fact: Snake's codec in smash, when you do the codec easter egg with sonic in the match, he says he hates sonic but has no reason to. had to mention because of the mention of him smash brothers brawl.
Thanks for letting me know when the tip many years later surprisingly the guidebook said nothing about it for the psycho mantis fight I was playing the game on a PSP bought the game off the PlayStation store many years ago once again thanks for the tip for my second playthrough
Metal Gear got a very good storyline. It is like a playable movie, but in a better way than just holding "A" and minutes later press "L" rapidly. It is not my type of game, but I really like seeing playthroughs of it.
Can we stop calling memories PTSD? I've seen people do this so many times with different games. Him remembering stuff that happened there does not make it PTSD lol
I love that the US government took the Nuclear stockpile out of Shadow Moses but didn't bother to decommission the base or even take Metal Gear Rex off of it. In a series that has codec calls for all of those kinds of details thats a very odd oversight
Hey Kai, when will you be doing another top 10 Silent Hill secrets and easter eggs video as well as facts about the live action Resident Evil movies? I miss those videos.
this was the first RPG game I've ever played the first MGS was the best and loved it so much with the 6 discs on the PlayStation 1 smh good old day lol
I'm not sure if this happens in the US or the European version, but, if you have a save file from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in your memory card, Psycho Mantis will say "You like Castlevania"
I still want to know where the underground passage to Rex in MGS4 came from. The entire facility was left alone for 9 years, yet that entire passageway was built during that time? Makes no sense to me.
Most of my cousins live in anchorage and fairbanks (fairbanks is where 30 days of night takes place), listen if he just did this mission in summer time he woulda been str8, he woulda had daylight til midnight, access to the dopest dope i ever smoked in the world to this day, and it woulda been 73 degrees at all times

It really was, Best thing about that whole game and the the only thing I remember vividly
Brought me to tears.
same here

The briefing files, as Snake cutting his hair, were not exclusive to the remake. They were also in the original PS1 version.
It is impossible for me to physically express how happy I am that Ink Ribbon is doing metal gear solid content
He didn't tell any new facts. What are you so happy about?
Right? My two loves coming together r
Grey fox death was so sad, him telling snake to tell Naomi and she never found out. Snake was a true friend to the end and didn't want Naomi essentially hating her only family.

It's amazing how after all these years we can still talk about MGS franchise and be amazed.
My best game of all time I have played so many times and brings me good memories when I was Happy and safe
An extra fun fact: In that final car sequence, that is the only moment of the game where you can shoot bullets in first person view.
The PSG1 and the Stinger Missile Launcher: "Am I a joke to you?"
I remember when I was a kid, me and my father used to play MGS1 together. 2 weeks?! Lol I would've googled it after 20 minutes 😂😂 we didn't have Google when we first played the game in '98
I love that even with everything I already knew about these franchises, you still find more content that I wasn’t aware of. LOVE this channel.

I’ve played metal gear solid so many times and I never knew you could use the boxes to fast travel like you can in mgs2 and mgs3
The difference between reindeer and caribou is that caribou would be found in the wild and reindeer is in captivity. At least that's what was taught to me up here in Alaska.
Of my fave games ever. Metal Ger Solid was of my most replayed games as a kid.
14:40 "yo! stop pissin' dawg!" - grey fox
Metal gear awesome!
God damn, there's piss all over me!
@@iamgeorgesears It's just like one of my Japanese animes!
You made me rewatch all of those videos. A hilarious trip on memory lane
@@Fraga1mayeah but there’s one line I remember being there that isn’t anymore… hmmm….
Hey Kai i got into you for loving RE but it was a nice treat to find out you also love MGS my favorite game! Loving the content keep it up!
"Are you some kind of pervert? I won't save the mission now!" Mei Ling being pissed always makes me laugh
All Octacon wanted was to watch anime and develop weapons of mass destruction. And Snake just had to ruin Ovtacon’s life.
Great video. Just so much nostalgia. This game was my youth and love hearing it talked about today
I think an interesting 50 facts character from MGS would be Gray Fox. There's a lot of lore for him not easily found in the games
There is a second effect on the bandana ; shot any weapon until the ammo turns red then equip the bandana now all your ammo will be red and if my memory won't fail me you will never miss and you will do extra damage

the battle between the two Metal Gears was awesome, wish was more frequent in Mgs games than just once. It was so fun but very short lived
Perfect timing, I’m back in my metal gear phase after replaying mgs5. Can’t help but go back through all of them again
Rex proved that it could still give anything the smoke.
Awesome video! Glad you cover MGS as well as RE 🎉
Thank you so much for covering my 3 most favourite franchises-Resi Evil,Tomb Raider and Metal Gear :)
You forgot to mention in the Bring Me The Horizon song Shadow Moses, they sampled the song “The Best Is Yet To Come”, the song that plays in the beginning of the Cavern level and in the Credits. It’s right in the beginning of the song.
I originally said Hanger level 😂
Bro, the Briefings were in the original MGS on PS1 too. They were some crude animating based off of Shinkawa's art like the Codec.
Coming back here in mgs4 was in my opinion one of the greatest moments in gaming and the cherry on top was fighting in freaking Rex that absolutely blew me away
Happy late birthday! And also, we need more videos on MGS! This series is so packed full of lore and BTS

Wow I cant believe “shadow Moses “ by bring me the horizon went over my head all this time
-1°C is extremely cold? It seems you got your notes mixed there, buddy lol
Fact 51, the room where you fight fox, is actually looking like the office where MGS1 was made.
More portable ops facts??❤ Those games are special.
fun fact: Snake's codec in smash, when you do the codec easter egg with sonic in the match, he says he hates sonic but has no reason to. had to mention because of the mention of him smash brothers brawl.
-1°C isn't extremely cold, it's barely cold for February...
In response to Bring me the Horizon, a pittsburgh band called Arcane Haven made a song called Outer Heaven
Policenauts was BADASS
Bro I feel when you said this video made you wanna play it. It’s very few games that give you that great experience and connection
Sniper Wolf's death scene is a work of art
Love the fact that you're doing MSG now :)

14:40 Awesome Series - Metal Gear Awesome 2 (Egoraptor) 2:24
i love that Ink Ribbon uploaded a video on my favorite game in my favorite franchise. Thank you!!!!
Johnny Sasaki is named after a dev that slacked off during production, so as a dis the character was created with diarrhea (citation needed).
You mention the bandana and the camo but no love for snakes tuxedo and red grey fox?
Sadness.
Man this is perfect... i been on a massive MGS kick. Anyways keep up the great content bro
I like the idea of making fact videos for famous video game locations or fictional companies/organizations. Maybe do facts about Silent Hill next?
Great video, looking forward to the cut content of MGS 4.
It's been almost 40 years , and MG/MGS is still kicking in a sense....
KOJIMA is god.
Thanks for this video. Mags was fundamental to my childhood
I still gotta get Master Collection eventually, its gonna be a blast replaying those
17:34 wasnt MGS VR released in 99?

You mentioned BMTH’s song “Shadow Moses”, but DIDN’T mention that they sampled music from MGS in it.
MGS2 gonna have tons of easter eggs and facts to make a video on for sure.
Can we stop calling memories PTSD? I've seen people do this so many times with different games. Him remembering stuff that happened there does not make it PTSD lol
Yeah this pisses me off too
Shadow Moses and Zanzibar Land are my favorite
Nice. More MGS franchise 50 Facts videos please 🥺
If you ask me you should make this channel a resident evil/ metal gear
I love that the US government took the Nuclear stockpile out of Shadow Moses but didn't bother to decommission the base or even take Metal Gear Rex off of it. In a series that has codec calls for all of those kinds of details thats a very odd oversight
Now thats a remake worthy , my all time favourite game mgs 1
Not a very well known game from what I've seen. but I'd love to see a fact video on the Shadow Hearts series!!
A cave where the Wolf Dogs live!?"
How did Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker get into the game!? 😆
Haha incredible comment.
Released in 1998 but the details that added in this game is just discovered very recently by most people. And this is just MGS1.
Hey Kai, when will you be doing another top 10 Silent Hill secrets and easter eggs video as well as facts about the live action Resident Evil movies? I miss those videos.
Amazing video. Takes me back

One of the first games I completed that wasn’t RE1,2 or 3 😅
The original also has the "secret" scene after briefing
I still want to know where the underground passage to Rex in MGS4 came from. The entire facility was left alone for 9 years, yet that entire passageway was built during that time? Makes no sense to me.
I didn't even know you could use trucks/boxes to get around the map! Played the game several times
Yeah it was one of those things that I discovered accidentally.
Negative 1c is considered extremely cold? that's actually funny
How'd you make that like but flash when you said that? Is that some feature I'm not aware of?
A reindeer is simply a domesticated caribou.
The return of Metal Gear Lore?!?!
- 1 C... extremely cold... really...
I laughed when I heard that. Also, his conversion is wrong too. 18°F isn't -1°C
I would be down for seeing you rank all of Brawl’s Codec calls.
Epic video Big Boss would be proud!😎
Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil. The two best game franchises of all time.
Ohh I always wondered what that jingle was during the Konami logo 😅 lol
“You’re pretty good…”
the fact that after timer runs out still beeing logical in universe would be such a kojima thing xD but its probably a bug/not intenteded
The briefing tapes were in the original too, no? Not just Twin Snakes
-1c isn't that cold Snake must of been a right pansy
9:34 sounds like Ren Höek
Legendary game. Thx for the video!
god i love this series
Can you tell from the look in our eyes? (We're going nowhere)
This is sempiternal
Will we ever see the end?
I remembered playing MGS4 and calling that fight between Rex and Ray as Metal Gear Rumble(It's cheesie I know).
