  • Today I am comparing the new Gelelf printing plates I bought on Temu. Let’s just say that I will be sticking to the tried and true Gel Press and Gelli Arts plates. But the Gelelf plates are a bit cheaper.
***While looking at the website for Gelelf, I noticed that either the website is poorly maintained, or that the company may be in trouble. There were many items unavailable, and they had the price listed for the 8 x 10 as over $220!! I put the link for Temu down below, but I am not a fan of these plates.
    Gel Press: $25.99 for 8 x 10, gelpress.com
    Gelli Arts: $30.61 for 8 x 10, www.gelliarts.com/collections...
    Gelelf: $21.86 for 8 x 10, www.temu.com/1pc-gel-printing...
    Stencils used:
    PM Artist studio: pmartiststudio.com

Hi Tricia, I recently got a GelElf 6x6 from Amazon, and had a terrible time getting the acetate sheets off both sides. I swear it left marks on the plate. And, it was so sticky ( and still is) - even after I washed it in Murphy's and luke warm water, and a while later in Dawn/warm water. Still super sticky and makes pulling cardstock print difficult. Also, using craft paint, the surface tension w the thin paint begins to separate almost immediately. I pulled using mainly Golden and Amsterdam paints, doing botanicals, and stencils, after 25+ prints, the plate is still super sticky.
For my money, I'll stick with Gelli Arts or Gel Press, thank you. Glad it was not just me experiencing this.

I also bought a Gelelf plate from Temu. I have found it works well. My other plates are all Geli Arts. Time will be the real test …. Where are you in Texas? We lived in Mason for 20 years and just recently sold. Love Texas and will always remain a sweet spot in my heart. What is the black paper? I can’t catch it on the video🙃

Thanks! I have lots of gelli plates with both main companies. I currently live in a small town Anna, Texas, but I am a native. I was born in Corpus Christi, and lived most of my life here. Plus my family is here. The black paper is called Steak Paper. Used to wrap steaks. It's a bit pricey but I think there are 1000 sheets in the box. I favor the Gel Press and Gelli Arts and mostly resist buying anything from Temu. Thanks for the demo Tricia. Exciting to watch you use the stencils from the designers featured in PM Artist Studio.

Me too, but wanted to try this one out of curiosity. I don’t buy from Temu-this is my first(and probably last) experience. I love the PM Artist Studio stencils and stamps-I use them quite a bit.

@MixedMediaArtByTrina I’m glad you like it and have one that works! I have plenty of gel plates, so I will be fine with the other two brands. Besides there is something going on with the brand’s website-and I couldn’t find them on Amazon just now. The brand has a price of $227.00 for their 8 x 10 plate, which has got to be an error of some kind. I cannot take the stickiness of these plates-not for me.

That’s weird that the plastic won’t come off. I did not have that issue with mine, however, I got mine from Gelelf and not TEMU. Maybe that makes a difference. Thanks for sharing. 😍

Hello Ms. Tricia, I have a Gelelf and a Gel press. I found the Gelelf printed better out of the package while the Gel press took longer to break-in for the paper not to stick and tear. After a couple of weeks they both were on an even keel. The acetate sheet on the Gelelf resisted a little, but (wow) not what you experienced. Thanks for the review and demo.

Well I sure did! I was able to get the plastic off the small one without trouble, but I can’t stand how sticky they were! The stickiness was really bad, and I don’t have that problem with the other brands. I might get one from Amazon and compare that one, but for now I am done the Temu ones.

I got mine from Temu with no problems, no stickiness. Where do you live? What’s the weather like? Where did you store it?

    • @trdewey
      @trdewey  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

The weather is nice in Texas right now. I discussed that in the video- I would expect something like this if it was summer, but we are around 60-70degrees right now with about medium humidity. Since I opened the plate on the video, I had just received it in the mail-which took forever to get here. I have plates that are as old as the companies first release and they are fine. They are stored in my bedroom studio which is climate controlled of course. Temu is apparently very controversial here, and this is my first purchase from them. I may try to recoup my money, but probably won’t order another one from them.

Well there weren't any instructions and I have many gel plates from other companies. Ive NEVER had to put a plate in water to remove plastic. Plus the plates were too sticky to use. I know lots of people use these, but they aren't for me.
