Yes, please do an eventual follow up video on how these plates perform after they're no longer new. eg, How do they hold up? Does their grippy tackiness change? Do they clean well? etc. Many thanks!
These techniques are wonderfully refreshing compared to a lot of gel plate tutorials out there…keep it up! Love the portraits- these are inspiring, I want more from a gel plate than making pretty wrapping paper
Can you tell us more about that clear varnish that you used mid-process on the large charcoal transfer? Brand? Impact on successive layers? Advice on using it? Thx!
Great work. I'm learning a lot from you. Is that a homemade frame you have around the gel plate? Looks like it's made from wood and nails? Very curious.
@@glamspoon2010 yes it’s just made out of plywood to try and keep the gel plate fairly straight on the sides and it also allows me to move the plate around without disturbing its surface.
Good afternoon, I wanted to ask you a question. I bought the gelli printing and when making the transfer with a laser print, it does not transfer on the plate. what could be happening? I use Golden acrylics. and the magazine pages, it is barely noticeable. Do I need special paper for the printer? any drying time? thank you so much ! I love your works!
@@inextremis84 hi laser jet transfers are notoriously difficult to achieve sometimes and it’s not something I have mastered and myself haven’t really had much success with so I’m not really able to help I’m afraid. Hello I’m new to gel plate printing, I enjoy your content very much. Could you tell me is that a charcoal pencil you’re using for the outlines of the “invisible man” & that’s a lazer jet printout you’ve coloured in with the chalk pastels?
@@serendipitylovejoy4724 hi. It’s a soft pastel pencil but you can use a charcoal pencil as long as it’s not mixed with wax. Yes I just printed out an image onto copy paper it can be either laserjet or inkjet as your just using it as a surface to transfer the pastel dust to the gel plate.
I didn’t buy any of the Gelelf stuff they sent it all to me direct so I could review it. If it’s not on the Temu site currently maybe they haven’t listed it yet, I’m not sure. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

It’s called mixed media artist board which can be bought here in the uk from a company called Seawhites not sure if you would be able to get it if you are located outside the UK thought. It’s basically a board a few millimetres thick which is double bonded either side with 200gsm cartridge paper.
@@chrishayman1747 hmm I’ve noticed a few posts in gel plate groups say the same about beading, my plates worked straight away without any issues so I’m not sure if they have changed anything in how they make the plates. People are saying to wash the plates with soap and that they seem to take longer to break in than the other brands do maybe try that and do a few more pulls. If the problem persists maybe email Gelelf and report your issues.
They are okay. Except if you buy them from Temu the packaging is poor and fold the bigger plates which makes them unusable. No bubble wrap just shoved in a bag folded in half.
I also bought the 16x20 plate from Temu before getting my free haul, which was folded but I had no problems, just unpacked it and left if flat for an hour and it was good to go. I do know that they are in the process of updating their packaging so maybe they will address these issues.

It’s a brand called “kobra” has no impact on successive layers. Just use it as you would a sprayer paint fine, every coat really.
