    In England, pigs in blankets aren’t made with pastry. It’s just sausages (real sausages not hot dogs) wrapped in bacon 🥓 so is already keto friendly

    I've been hem-hawing on whether or not to make these, and I had 6 cheddar bratwursts in my freezer. The powdered mustard is a very interesting idea! Oddly, I grew up HATING yellow mustard of any kind. Despised it. But as I get older, I've come to enjoy it more. I tend to be a ketchup and mayo guy for hot dogs. (Blasphemy! LOL)

    • @shirleyujest7786

      @@HighfalutinLowCarb I'm with you!! Hated mustard as a kid and as an adult only used it (pre Keto) on sardines w/crackers. I do like the mustard powder idea. Used that in a meatloaf recipe several years ago and thought the writer was crazy but it really enhanced the flavor without a mustard ball smackin you in the mouth. Since the blanket wrap is not a big, thick doughy covering, a little mustard powder might just give it a little whang without being too mustardy. Besides, I won't taste it much after dipping in my SF ketchup. LOL!!!

As far as the future of your channel as far as I’m concerned you could do your videos from Santa’s workshop at the north pole it’s not gonna change the fact that I love the way you test recipes and don’t give out the ingredients but give the links to the people that came up with the recipes that type of integrity is very important to me and if you’re willing to do that you could sell me ocean front property In the desert. I love that your family has a cookbook. My boyfriend's mother and the women in her family put one together back in the day also. It looks very similar to your's. This is a long line of amazing cooks and I love that these family recipes are documented so that they can be passed down for generations. When we first began dating, his mother and I would talk food and she would constantly refer to "The Book". As in, "Well, it's in the book". I wanted to get my hands on "The Book" so bad but it was a closely guarded secret book, lol. When we had been together 3 years, I guess that she realized that I was sticking around so she gave me a copy of "The Book". I felt extremely honored. We have been together 12 years now and I have made many recipes from that cookbook. Since starting Keto, I am slowly but surely taking recipes(Usually desserts) and adapting them to our Keto lifestyle.
    My grandmother was an amazing cook and an amazing baker. Sadly, she never wrote anything down and those recipes are lost forever. What I wouldn't give to be able to taste her peach pie again. I just can't seem to replicate, nor can I find any peach pie that tastes like her's. They are all missing the most important ingredient. A grandma's love.
    Thank you for sharing your fun little "Pigs in a blanket" story with us! Family memories are very near to my heart and I love to hear your stories.

    Pigs in blankets in England is a tiny or normal size sausage with bacon wrapped around it then cooked, these are served with Turkey dinners at Christmas. Sausage meat with pastry wrapped around it is called a Sausage roll and eaten hot or cold, eaten as a snack or part of a buffet at a party or wedding reception.

    • @HighfalutinLowCarb
      @HighfalutinLowCarb  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      VERY true. Not only is it a fraction of the price pound-for-pound, but you also only have to use about a 1/4 of the amount compared to almond flour. Double score! 👍
