1600 miles! I would have it at the dealership for warranty work so fast.

Just so everyone knows... I bought a 2023 AT4 diesel 10K miles ago. I've had zero issues with mine but I know it's only a matter of time. I like the truck but I don't like the history of what others have had to deal with. I kick its ass when I drive it and I think thats one of the reasons its not caused me any trouble.
By now GM and Opal should have these issues corrected. Certainly by the 2024 model anyway.
I get the message these engines are tossed together by people who are good and not so good.
That's why some people have the luck to not have these problems... because the dude who assembled the engine took a little pride in his work vs the dude who is lazy.
One of the biggest frauds is the big labels declaring these engines to be DURAMAX.
I can tell you this after owning a few 6.6 Duramax engines.
The Japaneses would have never let this garbage out of the engine building plant year after year with the same issues.
GM Sales knew it so they wanted to dupe the buyers into thinking they were buying the reliability of a Duramax.
So we are supposed to believe GM didn't know the trans fluid cooling system they designed would fry these transmissions which are close to being junk anyway with properly cooled fluid?
It took the little company PPE to produce the parts that fixes the trans cooling problem. PPE doesn't have 1% of the engineering budget GM has.
Lastly who in the hell makes an oil pan that won't drain completely? The answer is GM/Opal. The OEM pan leaves a half quart of dirty oil in the pan... but it's PPE to the rescue once again with their pan that drains completely.
The common thread here is GM just wants people to buy these trucks and once you do you're on your own more or less. They build into them failure points so you'll be back to buy another one.

You are exactly right.. they just want you to buy another one.

Could you elaborate on the trans cooling system if frying up these 10 speed transmission? I’m curious? Because my LZ0’s transmission went bad on me after lots of towing. Hence I’m back in Toyota tundra now.

It's a common problem that many more familiar with it know more than I do
For some reason GM put a thermal valve in the trans fluid lines going to the cooler. The effect is it keeps the trans fluid to hot.
Everyone knows heat kills automatic transmissions.

Start with the oil pan. Don’t forget the wind turbulence under there at 60-70 mph could push oil up a bit. Wicking on the metal.

Just got dye put in my oil at 2056 miles at the dealer today to confirm mine is also leaking from the oil pan. 2024 LZO! DIdn't believe all the complaints, now I'm thinking extended warranty time.

    • @Hagaandaz2001
      @Hagaandaz2001 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

So when I looked at mine it seemed like it was coming from the oil pan like yours, yesterday the diesel tech checked the results of the dye and it’s definitely the rear timing cover so my truck will be stuck at the dealer for a few weeks waiting on parts and require a transmission drop. Not happy but hopefully this will be my only major problem and I get it out of the way!

  • @bblakebrown

I had the same issue. Dealership said it was oil galley plug leaking. They replaced the plug and resealed it. I checked online and there is a service bulletin on it for LZO engines.

I just had that issue with my 2022 gmc 1500 AT4 3.0L at 34,000 miles, dealer did it under warranty, i think everyone should get under their truck and check it out to see if it’s seeping, they call it the rear crank seal.

Great post. Please update. I have a 2022 Yukon with the diesel and it has the same exact leak. I’m hoping that it’s the oil pan! Noticed it at about 30,000 miles. Hopefully it’s not coming from the main rear seal.

I had ordered a Silverado 1500 back in August, it finally arrived in December 16. After handing the sales guy a check for $63,000 I was on my way. I had scheduled a trip to Las Vegas departing January 5, from New York. A little bit north of Oklahoma City. It went into limp mode stopped at the nearest dealership and they told me not to worry about it and put some oil in the truck and on my way. Fast forward south of Oklahoma City same issue. A dealer tried to fix it. There drove another 75 miles and the same issue. It seems there was an insane oil leak. Had the unit towed into Amarillo January 6 and it’s been ever since they pulled apart three times and can’t figure out how to fix it. I’ve been trying to deal with lemon laws at this point anybody else have a serious leak

Coming out of factory maybe they need to torque and silicon better . I don’t know. Obviously something needs to be done if it’s a common issue .

  • @gasparsperformance9841

Wouldn’t it get replaced under warranty? Meaning you’ll get paid to fix this issue since you are the mechanic at the dealership that you’ll be having do the rework on your truck. Sounds like a new new to me. 😂

Thanks for posting. Your videos are very informative. Sounds like you took this leak in stride. Perhaps because it’s not your first Dura. Well frankly it’s disheartening. I’m looking at the exact same truck. Letting go of my 2020 Ram Eco-Diesel. 50k on the clock. Zero problems but it’s time for that dreaded EGR maintenance. So from no problems to all the potential problems from the Dura, it does not excite me. I love the 6.2 but it’s a big drop in mpg. What to buy? What to do…

I’ve got a 2023 3.0L Duramax. Oil pan started leaking at 16,000km’s. Fixed under warranty obviously, but pretty disappointing. The price on these trucks keeps going up and the quality keeps going down.

Oil dye? I think i have a fuzz over 3k on my 23 RST with the Max Tow package. Tomorrow if the rain stops i think i will have to take a peek up under there and make sure all is well. So far no engine issues. I just have an odd audio cutout going on 2-4 times in the first say 10 minutes of driving. Other than that we are good to go. Biggest bitch...no 4 Lo.

    • @hammer-r

Regarding the audio issue. I had the same thing as others on you tube had mentioned. They suggested going to the dealer. There is a service bulletin for a software update. I did it. Now the radio rarely cuts out if at all and really never in the first 10 minutes like before. It took care of 95% of the issue. Other than that the truck has been flawless. Loving it every time I drive.

@@k5nutt yea I thought so too. But when I talked to the dealer, since it was in for an oil change he said they would do it then. It took about an hour plus. So not sure if the over the air ones can go that long. Anyways at the dealer, it went well. I can’t remember if he said they had to do it or if over the air would work. Anyways he knew about the service bulletin and did the download.
Here is what I have from my notes.
