One thing with jets is they are very streamlined and they don't bleed off speed fast so overshoot the runway happens often. It's tricky with EDF because it takes a bit to speed back up, but you can't slow down as fast so landing is always an art. I have been flying for 30 years. I have a few Jet EDFs and they are always fun.
My first rc ever was four years ago when I bought the famous F-22 Raptor at a very big price tag. Long story short my maiden flight only last around 5 seconds before I did full throttle straight into the ground. Was cool while it lasted haha. You did way better then I expected!
That wasn't a bad run if you take everything into consideration. I've been at fixed wing hella longer than you, I have most of my first jet and look forward to smashing it to bits soon. Cheers Nobber, see you @ Claire's Live
Yes kev !!!!! get a turbine driven fire breathing jet rc plane. They are really fast. Rc planes are difficult at first but rewarding and enjoyable when everything works
You beat my first flight...tossed it up at like a 60 degree angle at only 1/4 throttle...went up, stalled, lawn dart, broke the fuselage in about 7 places, and ripped the motor/esc out. It was one of those 'do I throw it all away and pretend I never even tried, or glue it back together and try it again'. 18 years later, I'm still thankful the guy at the hobby shop insisted I also buy some 2 part epoxy lol
Nice work Kev. I had a plane that I flew into some trees. Very little came out that was larger that a hand span. I put it all back together with hot glue, packing tape and bbq skewers. It flew again and didn't look that bad. OOh, eta: If you get a jet turbine plane, please also get a fire extinguisher and fire blanket.
Wrong title .. We all know Kev isn't an idiot :P .. That's how he got me the first time.. tuned into watch a knob crash a heli, saw an expert do things I didn't know were possible.. Was first creator I smashed Bell on, then got my 1st Rc in years... Yesterday I just got my 5th :P ...1st kit though. Can't wait.. Love ya Kev!!
Also! I’ve hand launched this jet many times, and with that hand launch at the end, it should be at a higher nose up angle, thrown with quite a bit more force. Launching in SAFE is another option, but with sufficient push at the right angle from the person launching it dosent need SAFE. That wasn’t a crash at the end, just a forced landing.
Yeah I had a bixler and no wheels, hand toss is always easier, specially on grass. Nose up, full power, give it a hard toss and you're good. I learned too to add fibre packing tape to the bottom for landings because even on grass the foam wears away right quick. With a good head wind, you can actually slow it down so much that it is effectively hovering, just ease it down in one spot.
Love the energy Kev! In a parallel universe (one that is 50 ft lower in altitude) it looked like a good approach to a perfect landing... ...as we say at the airfield!
Was it your first rc plane ever? Just training on sim was enough to learn ? I am planing to buy an aeroscout but I found a deal on one of this f15 but not so sure about it.
Buy a new fuselage, transfer all the parts over to the new fuselage, and try again. I was so glad to see you weren't a beginner, saw a jet, and bought it! I built a semi -jet (Sig Kougar) 40 years ago as my first RC plane and the crash was a lot more devastating that yours as when I crashed, parts flew up from the ground! I've since come to fly planes that I have a much better chance of landing so the hobby is easier on the credit card :-)
Great with an edf you need to keep the energy up through all manoeuvres as this keeps the airflow over wing (no pep no airflow ) you did better than me on my first flight with edf
Well, you see how the hand launch went at the end. I’m going to maiden my 2nd one here in a couple of hours, and I’ll probably use the gear (for the first time, never used the gear on my first one.) It does look cooler without, I’ll give you that!
I've always said that once you get a true turbine rc jet, the hobby isn't very fun anymore. Unless you have stupid money. So, do it! I'd love to live viciously through you.
The problem with that specific model is that it does NOT have a impact resisting nose. I bought an RC Jet for 16 Dollors and after countless crashes, the RC model still properly functions without suffering any damages to any components.
That was pretty good! The left and right on the left throttle stick would be for the rudder! Check out the Eflite Habu if you want bigger and can fly much slower if you want for easier landings. And yes to that real rc jet!
kev you did great for your 1st time! you will be a pro in no time at all! and gorilla glue works amazing for gluing them back together after mishaps. ❤😂😁
Gorilla glue PLUS the old foam soup trick... google it. Hot water pimples the nice smooth finish a bit so don't get the water TOO hot. The crushed foam puffs back up... almost to original shape.
That was awesome ..can't wait to see you run that sonic wake..you've got some experience under ya belt now so yes definitely get a gas jet and zoom it into the dirt yo..love ya stuff kev..
Man u flied that jet waywaywayyy better than i thought u would Ik that landing a plane like that is extremely hard considering its so light and fradgile
You had more luck than I did with my first EDF. Bought an E-Flite Habu SS 50mm that took off, lost radio signal the second or became airborne and crashed ripping the front off.
It would be better to get a twin engine electric first. I had one of these single engine models and it would barely get off the ground. Yours does seem to have a little more power than mine though.
Yea that plane seems pretty sweet and you should definitely get a big one so I can live vicariously through you lol. And for $600 for the plane and controller you can’t really beat that for a trainer
Been flying for more years than I will admit. But we all have one saying..."Every plane has an expiration date". I have dumped large 150″ (3.81m) planes. All part of the hobby. Sadly I have more in my garage than I will ever fly.
That touch and go was very unexpected. Lmao!! But to answer the question. If ducted tape will hold that plan together. I'll say if it holds NASCAR'S together running 200mph then it should Hold an RC plan better As long as u don't do a 100-0 sudden stop into the ground again. I enjoy ur plan videos because with those if something goes wrong there's not much saving it like pulling over and stopping. 👍
First
Yes
I wanted to do it but you were faster😂
@@muc.Gustav get finessed bro
boom!
@@KevinTalbotTV thx
I and probably everyone else would love to see Kev build and crash a $20,000 jet in less than 30 minutes
oh yes
Definitely👍🏻💯👍🏻
probably not crash
That's what I'm expecting with his monster truck lolol
"hey kevvie, do a backflip" lol
Are they 20k!? Wtf lol
You lasted longer than I thought you would have. THATS WHAT SHE SAID
🤣🤣🤣
also" it's not as big as I was hoping "
She would have never said that.
Now that would be a tumble wumble.
Indeed that is what she said

For your first flight, I must say, impressed. Loops and rolls is ballsy, well done! You’ve got a future
Your videos show the true side to the rc hobby, laughs with friends while smashing up expensive toys 🤣. You guys seem fun to fly with.
Actual jet engine? In a plane? Flown by a self proclaimed idiot? Yes! Yes! And yes!
It's an EDF... an internal electric fan, not a jet engine.
No not an actual jet engine, that's an edf. Electric ducted fan
@@GhostbearRc have you watched the video??
@@Chris-xo2rqIn the video, Kevin said "if you want me to get a REAL jet rc plane let me know in the comments"
This guy is responding to that
Yes Kev! This is what we need. Flying RC stuff!
Yes kev !!!!! get a turbine driven fire breathing jet rc plane. They are really fast. Rc planes are difficult at first but rewarding and enjoyable when everything works

“Sounds really good doesn’t it” then immediately crashes
I love how the plane just nose dived right after all the aerobatic stunts 😂 rip
But stemp can fix it with zip ties and duct tape lol
EDF in this instance stands for Extremely Dangerous Flier!

Awesome video kev! ,EDFs can be difficult to fly but great fun when you get the hang of it ,would love to see a rc jet with a really engine!
Sometimes it's hard to watch someone thrash something you would love to have. You did great though!

Video suggestion: Tesco rc cars vs expensive rc cars
yes!!!! he's already done that with a xmaxx and a cheap car from smyths toys superstore
@@lashwa086 LOL I think I saw that one
my man said he never flown a jet and went straight for the inverted. You have got my respect, sir.
This is the Jet I learned with. Everyone that brings this to the field crashes it. I played over 400 hours on the software and I flew it like a pro.

Well of course mate! Jets, giants scale aerobatics, boats, cars trucks and monster trucks. Heck, why stop there. Your the man.
Always love the plane vids for a change!
Me too!
I can't wait to see you fly a real kerosine powered jet engine!!
GET A REAL JET!!!!!!!!! “It’s gettin it now!”
That wasn’t bad for a first Jet flight. Always take some foam safe superglue or foam Tac for those rough landings 😎
Great vid, genuinely made me laugh out loud. You so have to get the turbine!
The position of LT Pete “Maverick” Mitchell has thankfully already been filled.
Cheers Kev for keeping us all entertained 🤣
Kev I’ve been booming all my builds now like you do but I still can’t get the hang of it they still take me ages 😂
Wow!
That RC fighter plane was awesome!
But it looks like it's made for a asphalt runway not grass!
WE WANT A REAL JET!!
I agree
Kevin, please, please, please build a proper RC jet turbine model!!! My sons and I love your content brother! Cheers!
YES to the real jet engines.
He always says he cant fly it, then flies it really well, the pushes the limits, and well... That bottom scrape was epic though, damn.
You did very well all things considered. Lots of great acrobatics for someone never flying that pane before. Great job.
I took off at a park with mine and it was cut in half. Glued it back together and now it's one of my favorite planes
That looks like So Much Fun.... Had a Beginner plane but the foam gave out....
Great with an edf you need to keep the energy up through all manoeuvres as this keeps the airflow over wing (no pep no airflow ) you did better than me on my first flight with edf
I've just got into flying planes, they take some getting used to, but great fun😀👍👍
E-Flite's f15 needs to be hand launched and belly landed... looks way cooler in the air that way, and helps airodynamics :)

you did pretty good for the little experience you say you have ,good job
Don't worry about "flying" it! Just take it to the skate park and do a few "touch & goes" until it won't fly anymore! :)
Kevin definitely needs to try and fly more RC planes in the future...
I can't wait to see the ripper absolutely destroy that model jet engine 👍 sweet video as always !
You and me both!
Top reason why I don't like planes and stick to ground vehicles gets really expensive with an oooops lmao. Great video!
Yeah I'd love to see an RC plane with a real jet engine in it!! It would go perfectly with your video of an RC car with a real engine in it too!
I've always said that once you get a true turbine rc jet, the hobby isn't very fun anymore. Unless you have stupid money. So, do it! I'd love to live viciously through you.
Kevs new record of 2.21 next up jet engine get the fire extinguisher ready lads
You definitely need to build a turbine heli! Looking to buy the the kingtech 800 artf
The problem with that specific model is that it does NOT have a impact resisting nose. I bought an RC Jet for 16 Dollors and after countless crashes, the RC model still properly functions without suffering any damages to any components.
Mate you’ve got some talent, definitely fly more planes. I’ll watch it.
One thing for sure, you go for it! That's what makes it fun. Love it.
For $220 that's a cool little plane and looks like it's well worth the money, as long as you know how to fly it ;)
Imagine Kev started "The World's Fastest Electric RC Jet!" That would be so chaotic and funny
Azure Power Blades and ManiaX Lipo.. excellent choices on that badass Oxy Heli
That was pretty good! The left and right on the left throttle stick would be for the rudder! Check out the Eflite Habu if you want bigger and can fly much slower if you want for easier landings.

No too surprising, Kev is the best at slamming rc’s into the ground from 30 feet!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hell yeah I want to see Kev with a real jet ✈️!
I can not think of a single thing that could go wrong either!!
He is a pro at air/ fuel mixture’s
Electronics on planes last way longer than the airframe, but foam can be repaired easy with hot glue or gorilla glue

A camoflaged jet model is a good idea. It's very visible in the sky. lol
It would be better to get a twin engine electric first. I had one of these single engine models and it would barely get off the ground. Yours does seem to have a little more power than mine though.

Yes to more jets but maybe not really expensive ones till you get a bit better!
Would be awesome to see some other stuff other than rc cars
Kev stick to what your good at 4 wheels on the ground!!!! In fact you break most of them too. Time for a new hobby perhaps like fishing lol.
You should definitely get one that has a real jet turbine engine! Would be Epic!
Go jet!!!! You definitely need a proper gas turbine engine to play with. Preferably twin turbine model. We are waiting keV!!
Your next RC adventure should be flying a T-Rex 700X Dominator while wearing a blindfold
Actually lasted longer than expected 😂 minor battle scares , bit of duct tape and boom 🤣 be great to see a proper jet go to the moon 🌒 👌😂😂
I love how you say, "BOOM!!"

Superb landing. Lol. Cool "toy" guys!
This looks awesome Kev I seen raz had one and they can go buddy he raced the infraction and they where side by side love it bro
Kev are you excited to get your hands on the new max4?

i don’t know much about the rc planes but i think the left stick should be for the yaw and i’m assuming the plane didn’t come with yaw control
