Kev, thats a great idea! You should make another super powered, bench mounted, wheel spinner with some protective glass shielding, and let subscribers submit wheels to see what can withstand the most rpm and abuse. Would be great content and almost free r&d on your way to 250mph.
Just imagine all those back seat engineers sending in their wheel and not even making 100mph. 😆 But I think I've an idea which is cheap and dirty, not sure how it'll preform. 🤔
DUDE!! Mad respect to you. You are juggling so many things all at once and the fact that you still film videos for us to enjoy is absolutely incredible. Keep doing what you're doing and I can't wait to see all the stuff you're trying to get to
Kevin you need a bead blaster for the MT tires. It's basically an air tank with a big dump valve that goes to a fanned bell output. It pushes so much air so fast it sets the bead. There's a channel on here called Tire Doctor if you want to learn more
Kevin, with your planes you might find the bigger ones are easier to fly as they have more power and authority in the air whereas the smaller ones are fast, twitchy and difficult to fly well, you might be best to stick to minimum 40 size planes before moving up or down in scale.
Creating an all aluminum wheel does improve rigidity over plastic, but they tend to have more weight in them. In my experience, they create a lot of vibration even with the slightest imbalances. My idea of a custom wheel that could work with the speed car, is to create a 2pc wheel setup. Aluminum spokes, plastic barrel.
You can rebead the tire with an explosion. Get a match on a stick, or a welding torch sparker, a ferrocerrium rod, bbq lighter etc..., then grab some starting fluid or similar, spray a bunch into the tire and ignite it, the explosion will seat the bead, there are some good videos of tractor or 4x4 tires being reseated with this method, I have done it a few dozen times and it's quite effective. There is also an "air cannon" that used to perform the same task by blasting a large volume of air into the tire. I don't know that it would be powerful enough to seat such a large tire, but may be worth looking into. Also, put a ratchet strap around the outside of the tire, tighten it up to push the bead out closer to the rim can be helpful in getting it to seat just using your air compressor.
Just keep on keeping on Kev... some people just won't understand, but even they will soon realise the 'channel organisation' means more of everything... it's going to be absolutely EPIC!!
Weight isn't really an issue with the speed sossige, full size lakes racers often load the cars up with lead ballast to try prevent wheelspin and keep the cars on the ground, so I'd reckon aluminium wheels with solid rubber tyres bonded on might be the way forward. As an aside, I have a friend at Santa Pod who is an ex-marshal who crewed at the Pod. He's also a retired engineer who specialised in making moulds. Turns out he designed the moulds for all of Schumacher's off road 1/10th scale tyres in the early '90s. He also designed moulds for plastic trim bits of Jaguars, Bentleys and Rolls Royces.
The tire plug kit is easy. Shove the spike tool in the hole in n out a few times to smooth out the hole... load the plug into the gap on the little forked tool should be in a U shape, coat with rubber cement. Remove the spike shove the plug in about half way n yank the tool out... the plug should stay behind. Cut of excess leaving about a 1/4in or so sticking out.
One trick I heard of when I was turning wrenches (never tried it) to seat the bead on those big tractor tires, was to use some kind of flammable aerosol. Starting fluid should work fine. Be sure to stand back and mind your eyebrows!
Kev- pro tip for tire repair kits - use liquid rubber cement to lube the plug when inserting it. And auger it out with the rasp real well beforehand. You could also use the fire method to set the bead on the truck tire. Might make a good video. *BOOM*
Kev, anything with thrust vectoring behaves like a helicopter, so does some 3D flying you should be fine. Also bigger the plane the easier it is to fly. That SR71 though, maybe make it your 3rd or 4th model to fly.
Kev you may be able to use starting fluid to pop the tire back on! As for the tire plug kit they are pretty easy to use. I'm sure there are some good videos out there for plugging the tire and popping it back on the rim!
Get a can of starter fluid for engines. Spray it inside the tire and throw a match in it. The explosion will set the bead. Do it outside though. It works good!
To get the Monster truck tyre back on rim, get bit of gas, squirt it in all the way around then light it. Sounds sketchy but works. Will pop straight back on
Use adjustable spoiler and side wings and you can fly it across the ground with any kind of tires you want. Heck metal tires would work. Out think don't out work em.
To inflate the monster truck tire buy a can of brake cleaner and empty the whole thing out on the wheel while it’s connected to the truck and lifted. Connect a hose to inflate the tire after the popping of the bead and you’ll be solid
Hey Kev. Not sure if you’ve considered 3D printed tires using a flexible TPU filament at 100% infill. I use the Overture brand. It has quite impressive strength properties that continues to amaze me. The stuff is super resistant to breakage and delamination, and when printed at 100% infill is quite rigid, less give than rubber, but enough give to be used as tire and will develop a grippy surface. Not sure if it would work but may be worth a try.
Kevin best way to monster truck tyre back on bead Get flammable gas, brake cleaner etc... spray onto tyre rim ... throw a match... ....😊 Put ear muffs on ... sometimes when tyre goes back on bead it's a bit loud
To get the bead on just blow starter fluid or another flammable aerosol in and light it while you have the compressor on pumping it up. The air will heat up and pop it on and the compressor will put air in before the air cools and it comes back off. It can be scary but everyone does it. I actually did it with hairspray before.
Kev you asked about fixing audio with your iPhone's Mic. I did post about pods with Mic on a cable, I forgot to mention another option, that maybe helpful. DJI Mic (1 TX + 1 RX) It's a Wireless Lavalier Microphone set & your completely cordless. It works with the iPhone as you said you would like a solution 👍
RIP big jet! 😂😂 I'm kidding, you will be fine. If you can fly a pak flyer a big jet is easy. They are very stable compared to park flyers. It's also easier to keep orientation. Just don't push beyond your skill level at first. I have been Flying RC planes and Helies for 14 years. Since I was a kid. I remember going from small-scale aircraft to big 1/4-scale aircraft and how much easier they are to fly, especially with the gyro you need to hover the jet. Most good gyros have a recovery mode switch. That will rescue you if you lose orientation. People may say gyros are cheating when they are not. Some Jets can't fly without them. Real Jets have them, are pilots cheaters? They are an enchantment or extension of yourself. They will not make a bad pilot a good pilot. Anyway. you got this Kev! You're the RC Goat!
I can probably help you with the tire on the monster truck get you a two or three inch wide ratchet strap put it in the center of the tire. Meaning line it up with the center of the tire and hook it back to its self. And when u get it all the way around the tire so u can hook it back to itself and then u get the bead on the back of the rim started first then once u have that u start to Ratchet it down. Once u get the front of the tire as close as u can get its bead to the rim but u do the back bead first so u can lay it down and have access to the valvestem. Take the air chuck off the compresses hoes but u leave the quick connection brase on there as if ur just switching a tool of the hoes 10 are your compressor all the way up and what that does when you stick that open brass connector onto your valve stem it allows a big burst of air to shoot in it at once I hope you can understand what I'm trying to explain😂😂 but that's how we used to do big tires on heavy equipment
Going 250mph in the sausage is literally the only thing you should be focused on, it’s an epic project and the previous videos felt like you was gonna achieve it!
The channel designation sounds perfect! I'm excited for the Kyosho 1/8 nitro. Also, maybe you could take an old monster truck tire and cut chunks out of it and turn them into tires on a lathe? Just a crazy thought.
So glad to see you getting into planes seriously...u have always been on of my favorite rc guys for all my other rc hobby but ive been a big flywr of planes and drones all freestyle and 3d
Kev you need an alloy wheels for your speed sausage with foam tyres, when I watched your wheel test video you could see the plastic wheels stretching, either a steal wheel or an alloy wheel will stop that. Then it’s 250mph time
Heres an idea for a project. Combine an RC basher with a plane somehow. Send it over a ramp then fly it. Not sure how that would work, but if anyone can do it im sure you can.

Kev, I don't think it's the tires on the speed car. I think it's the weight. Those tires are designed for cars that are obviously smaller and lighter. Solve the weight problem and you with solve the tire problem. My opinion and experience, hopebthis helps mate.
Soem great gear there , with the monster truck tyre try using soem extra heavy duty ratchet straps around the wheel will make the sides pop out too the rim so the bead will somewhat seal hit it with lots of air and should pop on remove the straps and pump up to ur desired pressure I’ve done this on tractor tyres when doin it on me own lol
Let Stempy have a go at the planes lol 1:50 Hey I'm building a 5" version of that! Those micros actually fly pretty well, I believe it has a gyro system built in, good stuff
You should try to see if you could get someone to make you some stamped sheet metal rims for your high speed rc car it would be a lot stronger and resist deforming and maybe that could help with the foam staying on the rim

I’d try hockey pucks, just drill a hole in the middle and mount it direct. No tire needed and it’s solid and heavy

Kev you may be able to use starting fluid to pop the tire back on! As for the tire plug kit they are pretty easy to use. I'm sure there are some good videos out there for plugging the tire and popping it back on the rim!
