Planes are the ultimate RC. Especially balsa builds. 40 hours of work broken in 10 minutes or less if you are unlucky. When it comes to RC models I dont think Kevin is the luckiest. Easy to fix though just time consuming.
@@CopterCrasher 100%. I bought one before there were gyros and stabilizers etc and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't fly the damn thing. I can fly planes, but not helis. I eventually sold it. This is why I can't understand why Kevin has a problem with planes yet can stunt helis. Planes are easy peasy compared to helis.
A couple of hints for you to add to your plane..... 1 - add a washer to the top of the bolt that holds on the ball links.. that way if the link pops off the ball it will stay in place...... 2 - add a straight piece of brass fuel line in between the clunk and the top.... so the clunk doesn't fold over itself..... 3 If you dead stick a plane keep it level and use only the rudder and do not pull up on the elevator (which is a natural instinct)... as the plane is falling due to no power keeping the wings level and turning using rudder will allow the plane to land safely... pulling up on the elevator stalls the plane and it runs out of air speed then its game over with a pile of broken...... this technique is worth practicing at low idle as dead sticks are common.... Love the beast.... I have 1 in the box new and 1 I fly but mine are the next size down.....
Seeing The Beast randomly pop up is crazy. Here is my story about the real aircraft. My father’s band played an air show every year in Kansas City in the USA. In 2011 we were watching the show before the annual 50s sock-hop style car show and dance. My dad’s band played 50s-60s rock and roll music like Chuck Berry and Elvis kind of music. Bryan Jensen was an aerobatic performer with over 23,000 flight hours and was performing his aerobatic routine where he seemed to lose all power and crashed. The Beast caught on fire immediately and he perished in the wreck. After witnessing that crash the weekend was canceled and my father and I as well as his band mates just packed up in silence. The whole place was silent until the hangar area and the whole stage was cleared. It was surreal to see that plane crash a second time in your channel.
Got to meet Bryan Jensen who flew the real beast a couple years before the airshow crash. Really nice guy, we just road up to the hangar on bikes and he gave us the full tour. RIP.
This is the first time i've seen something break on Kevin's channel and he looked upset/heartbroken. Guessing this plane/series isn't going to the moon!
I was going to say and a buddy box but with a dead engine not much you can do. But yes, sim time would work wonders. Plus on that $300 one, setting the trim close before leaving the ground is a MUST.
Well as someone who owns all of those three planes and just spent so much savings on the beast, my heart ist bleeding..... At least you took the old UMX Pitts and an elapor ultimate instead of the UMX Beast and the wooden 60e Beast. ....and I crasht my Beast 111cc too because of an engine failure far away. It was really a pain to fix it, because ther is not much wood connected to the gear. Fix it (or let it be fixed) pretty good and a little bit more sturdy. If your Gear is bend you might actually buy a new one made of CFK. Works good for me ;) It really really is a great plane. Please just dont crash it ;) Maybe fly it in trainer / Student mode :D
Gotta give it to you Kev.. Can't half tell you're a stick banging heli pilot.. your reaction time is right up there. The big Bi-plane is an easy repair... Done far worse on mine. Balsa and ply can be better than new with a little thought. Can't wait to see it flying again. Something about big models and the way they fly is simply awesome.
Didn't look so remarkable to me. At 11:22 he had plenty of room to level it out and land in that huge field. Instead, he stayed in the turn until it hit the ground.
@@paulrybarczyk5013 it looked like he was too concerned with landing on the actual take off strip and not using all available area but landing one of those at dead stick is not easy at all.
He fucked up, should have landed after the maiden and checked everything including fuel, but worse than that he had an easy emergency landing but decided to do a leg instead of just brining her home. Pilot error getting egged on to do the stunt followed by pilot error by not just landing it simply and quickly, went for a needless turn, dead stick landing, forget the pattern. We all make mistakes but there was an easier much less risky landing there. I've done the same
Awesome BiPlane Kev! It sure is a Beast! I had the 1200mm Foam version of The Beast and it flew just like your big one, Epic! That would be the ideal one to learn on first mate! Much lighter and very forgiving to fly. You can almost land it one handed.
foamies are the best thing to hit r/c planes. Back when I was a kid in the 70's to get in the air would run you about $2500, that's over $10,000 in today's money. Now you can get into the air for $50 CDN. You can buy nice little warbirds for $125 with gyros. I don't know why, but ALL manufacturers stopped making WWI biplane warbirds. I got busy with business and then went to buy an SE5A and woop, gone. Since you flew the beast: his issue with the $300 version is tip stall am I right? I had the same issue with my bixler. Doing turns too fast with not enough air speed so the inside wing lost lift and it dropped. My issue was my field wasn't big enough to fly it in. Great plane tho. Slow it down to 5 mph and fly straight and level with no gyro.....
Some are quicker than other.. Or less naive... Or opposite. But if u havent figure it out by now, imma give u a hint: try to see The bigger picture. Not telling u to think better or worse of anyone. But i guess stating The obvious is above average atleast.

Put some copper tube between clunk and fuel tank so it doesnt fold back on itself like that, Would love to go flying with you lol, I would say it would be interesting.
Finally glad to see the plane fly sucks about the clunk issue have had fuel tank issues myself always a good idea to check the fuel lines and hold the plane at 90 degrees and you should only have a slight increase in rpm but hard to do with such a massive plane
The whole time Kev is flying I just hear "Snoopy vs The Red Baron" playing in my head😏 In todays day and age with this out of control market, 3 grand actually seems quite reasonable...😁
That fuel line bent forward in the crash landing, engine needs adjusting and a high idle setting on a toggle switch so that when chopping the throttle during stunts the engine doesn’t dip to low. Easy fix been there done that, glad ur flying rc planes and helping to bring new people into the hobby!
My first foamie, nice scale P-51 mustang...oops, sold it, got a bixler powered glider. After so many crashes and repairs it was too heavy to fly. So I bought a kit version and transferred all the electrics. since it was 1M wingspan I needed a big area to fly. Then I got a little $50 high wing trainer with a gyro and it was great fun.....used to fly it in the parking lot outside my shop. Until I flew it into a steel chimney lol.

Same happend when i tried to fly rc planes 😂 The problem is I don't have the best eyesight. I can fly very well on a sim And even a real plane. It's much easier because you're in it. It's the same with a car
