  • Looking for the perfect recipe for a Daily/Track car engine Build? Check out our vlog and see what we did to build the perfect Daily/Track car.
    Recently we blew the engine on this Subaru WRX STi Hatch at Thunderhill raceway on a hot summer day. The car was overheating and by the time we realized it was overheating, it was too late and the car had a rod knock.
    Since we had to pull the engine out and replace it anyways, we decided to do a bunch of upgrades to the engine while we had everything taken apart. Since we were going to keep the motor stock, we decided to do a small turbo upgrade to the Blouch 18G turbo. It would produce a little more horsepower and maintain a quick spool which is great for daily driving. Along with the turbo upgrade, we did full bolt ons and upgraded the fuel system.
    After everything was said and done the car drove a lot faster and just as smooth as it did when the car was completely stock. After the engine was built, the car was tested on the track and it performed flawlessly. The car maintained good top end power while still maintaining good throttle response.
    Engine Mod List:
    -Stock Heads/Shortblock
    -Cobb Intake
    -Hard Turbo Inlet
    -Blouch 18G Turbo
    -IAG Equal Length Header
    -Invidia Downpipe
    -Invidia Exhaust
    -IAG TGV Deletes
    -IAG Oil Pick up Tube
    -IAG Oil Baffle
    -ID 1000cc Injectors
    -AEM 340lph Fuel Pump
    -IAG Fuel Lines, Fuel Rails, Fuel Pressure Regulator (Installed after this video)
    Wheel Specs: Rays TE37SL 18x9.5 +38
    Tire Specs: 255/45/R18 Falken Azenis

    This is an awesome video I was actually building my car around this time. Honestly no better feeling than building your engine and that first start. I had a shop in Vegas that cleaned and honed my block but 5,000miles on it and still running strong.

    Your doing some strange stuff building that motor. I’ve been building subaru engines for 20 years and never seen anyone ever put silicone spray over wrap. Nor have I ever seen anyone put petroleum jelly on rubber seals. I love learning new things. Do these methods actually work or are you just experimenting? Let me know because im always after new ideas when building engines. Cheers 👍

    • @PMAutoworks
      @PMAutoworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep! We put Silicone Spray on the wrap to avoid it absorbing oil and hold in more heat. It kinda works? We use Petroleum Jelly to help lube seals for easier installs. Seems to be safe on the rubber which is why we use it.

    So basically you just wanted to keep everything stock... stock rails, only 1000cc injectors, small turbo, even stock block...
    Probably could have skipped the turbo and put some money down for a built block to be safer and set up for the future. But either way car is clean man.

    What made you go with a blouch 18g instead of an fp blue or something similar? Is it an 18g xtr?

    • @PMAutoworks
      @PMAutoworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We went with a Blouch 18g because we just wanted to add on a very small amount of horsepower on top of what we already had to build the perfect street car. An FP Blue is a larger turbo and since we are running a stock block, we did not want to push the limits of it.
