    When creating a vector, draw a bounding box, (usually square), and duplicate it on every layer around the artwork.
    That way your layers will always align whatever software you are in.
    Just delete them when you are ready to print.

    Printing layers in the way you did so youre not constantly purging different colors and making it more 3dish was actually an amazing idea! Love the video.

      Thanks! and thank you for watching. I started layering that way mainly because I use cardboard spools in the AMS and want to have minimal color changes so that hopefully they don't break down and ruin it.

Question on using tinkercad, is there a preference over tinkercad than something like Fusion 360. I have been bring people's logos into fusion 360 after turning into svg's and then extruding each layer for a different color. By the way I really love the tabs you added to hand the decorations, such a smart idea!!

If I was doing any real 3d modeling I’d probably want to use a better cad software to be more accurate.

    so cool! those turned out amazing. endless possibilities there. just wondering for selling these on etsy if the time taken to print just one would even be worth it? seems like you could only make 1-2 a day depending on design and not sure that would be worth charging a lot for for plastic

    • @macymakes3d
      @macymakes3d  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think so. I list the thin, hanging ones for $15-20 and the thicker ones that can sit up on their own for $25-30 depending on the design. Pretty much everything I sell takes 4-6 hours to print so those aren’t much different there. People are paying for the art, not necessarily just the plastic.

    Okay, I'm new here and definitely new to that Nifty little software that you are using.
    I got a question.
    You put in a bunch of "nos" such as gradients shadows and things you didn't want.
    Yet it ignored that entirely and gave you color images.
    If you had asked for black and white with no gradients, would it have given you the desired line drawing?

    • @macymakes3d
      @macymakes3d  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did the “no” part wrong. I should’ve added -no to the end of the prompt and then said gradients or highlights. It’s hard to say what it would’ve given for black and white, you probably would have to say specifically to do a line drawing with black outlines on a white background.

    Very nice video. This is one of the ways I refer to using AI as a tool in part of the process. You didn't just prompt it to get an image and post that image elsewhere. I see no difference in what you did and how others will use any other image search and "auto trace." I mean this in a good way, people defend one vs the other simply because of the AI boogeyman.
    I don't know if you watch Uncle Jessy, but he had a video on using an AI generator for non-flat model generation, but it costs. I think it is made by Nikko and using their database to generate the print.

    You dont need a hub if you have 2 AMS’s. If you print a splitter, and connect each AMS via ptfe tube to the inputs of the splitter and have the output of the splitter going to the standard hub, you will find this works. I used this as a temporary measure until my hub arrived.

      Ooh cool ok! I have a hub on the way but this seems like something fun to try. Thanks!

  • @UnderYourMother
    @UnderYourMother 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    you dont need to have a hub to use multiple ams units. just put a splitter before the filament sensor on the back of the printer.

      I still prefer this method over hue forge. I feel like I have more control. I’ll only use hue forge if it’s a really detailed design that I can’t separate easily

    I was wondering, could you put your Etsy link in your "about" section of your profile please? Also, when you get less busy, could you maybe make a video showing a beginning to end of fulfilling an entire order and all that you have to do for the entire process. I know it would help me to visualize all that goes into running a 3d printing and fulfillment business. Maybe also break down all the associated costs you incur along the way...

    Why are you going through all these additional steps? First off you could have just generated the images right inside ChatGPT with Dalle3 which actually has better vector style output than Midjourney.
    And since you did use Midjourney, why didn’t you just convert to svg right inside Midjourney with Tracejourney?

  • @hunterjohnson4591

    If you already have illustrator why not images trace in there? Illustrator and photoshop have generative fill which is like your ai image tool.
