  • In this video I walk you through my entire process as I create a new listing for my 3d printing Etsy shop. I do a complete walkthrough to get a new 3d printed product listed on Etsy. Includes how I take my product pictures, edit photos, and create the listing with titles, descriptions, and tags. I do my best to provide tips and tricks that I've learned along the way.

    Very helpful video. I would be curious about the other side of this: your experience actually selling through etsy and everything that happens and your process when someone places an order. Thanks for sharing!

    First, great video. One thing I’d recommend, though, is on quantity. You say you put yours at 99. And you don’t have any actual stock because it’s all made to order. What I try to do is list the quantity at a number I’m confident printing and shipping in the allocated shipping time frame I set if the full quantity happened to be purchased at once.
    While it’s highly unlikely, if 99 people would purchase your listing all on the same day, you’d essentially be screwed because you’d have no way of fulfilling all the orders within your allocated time frame.
    The renewal fee is .20 cents. And if you want to avoid that, if you see your quantity getting low, you can always manually update it before the stock drops to zero, which avoids the renewal fee.

      Same here. I set my stock of a particular item at 12, for instance, so even if all 12 sell in a day I can still ship them all within 3 days.

    Love your content. I am starting a new 3D printing business in Toronto, Canada. I am tempted to copy your idea for the nameplates for teachers but wouldn't want to sell in the same geographic region that you ship to out of respect for your content.

    Well done on the channel growth and etsy store growth. I like the font on the name plate in your video what's the name of that font please if you don't mind me asking.

    I've got ideas for things that I can print that ppl might buy, but since I only have 1 printer (and a slower one at that), I don't feel like trying to make an Etsy store would work - in the rare case I got 10 orders, I can't make them fast enough (and I'm not sure it's worth pre-printing and getting stuck w/ inventory)....do you have any other ideas where one could start on a small scale? If I could sell $xxxx amount, I would then add a faster Bambu type w/ the multi color capabilities like you are using. Exploring local possibilities, but I'm in a pretty rural area where ppl aren't into buying such things regularly. LOL
    Thanks!

    So do you have a rate for print by amount of fil, weight, or print time? If a longer name is thinner that is why I'm asking. How are you liking your bambus? I'm running ender style printers and looking at that option.

    • @macymakes3d
      @macymakes3d  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No I keep the same price for every nameplate regardless of the number of letters. Most of my customers know nothing about 3d printing and that would be too confusing to them.
      I LOVE the bambus. They’re total game changers. Faster and better quality. I ran 2 anycubic vypers before and these are 3 times faster than those with perfect prints every time.

    what are your thoughts on etsy as a platform? ive heard some people say their fees and costs are going nuts.

    • @macymakes3d
      @macymakes3d  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The fees are high, but it's also a marketplace, and without that, I'd have zero sales, so I can't really complain. If you can figure out the right keywords and actually get your products seen by the right people then I think there's definitely some good money to be made there. I also think it's a good starting place, learning how to create products, make sales, use their marketing and shipping, and then eventually work towards moving your customers off Etsy to your own website.

    Hey Macy!! Big fan of your setup with the Bambu Labs 3d printers, and Etsy! Looks like your are doing great! Soooooo, I am in the process of setting up my Etsy shop today. My shop will be product from both my cnc machine and my Creality CR-10S Pro 3d printer. Don't worry, I don't plan to target teachers. Rumor has it that there is a referral link from an Etsy seller that both the seller and the new shop get 40 free listings. Can you confirm that? If so, I'd like you help support you in that way and also I wouldn't mind the 40 free listings either. Would you be willing to share your referral link if that is a thing? Thank you, Jesse
    PS Thank you for your informative videos!

      @@macymakes3dyou’re very welcome! I posted shortly after my comment, but I’ll have to see tomorrow if I can still use it. That would be awesome if somehow it still worked for both of us! Either way, by showing your link and talking about it a tiny bit, I’m sure that’ll help you too!! Or if all fails, I just become a teacher and get a nameplate from you! 🤪
