Given how good the Bambu Labs printers are and how I managed to get a free PRUSA mk3s over on printables, I guess this is how I’m going to do it.
It's worth it. I was blown away with my first Bambu lab printer after using prusa for a long time.
damn the fact that you got that many prusameters is insane maybe its just because for me they arent giving me the correct 100 prusametrs and are giving me random 10 prusameters that do not add up to 100. your models must be good,
@@kevbot.:saying you got paid without saying you got paid
@@kevbot. Well ... I guess you would have been blown away (by the speed) with a Voron 2.4, too.
And after all that's where Bambu Lab "got inspired" from and copied even many functions: the Klipper and Voron community in the same way they use PrusaSlicer for Bambu Studio or copied Printables.
Don't know if that's a good thing.
@hassosigbjoernson5738 The difference is there has never been an out of the box printer like this you(most of the time)have to buld your own voron which can take days worth of time where as the x1c literally takes 15mins to get started up
Genius system to grow their marketplace.
I agree.
Erm prusa did it first they just copied printables entirely
@@-ljk- True .. in fact Bambulab copied a ton including taking over the entire Prusa Slicer. ;) BUT where they shine is actually they also dramatically improve things. Being on both platforms (Printables, Makerworld) with exactly the same 3D models I can say: A) porting over models to Makerworld from Printables was a breeze thanks to their easy workflow. B) The rewards cadency on Makerworld VASTLY outpaces the one on Printables. Like 1:5 - 1:10.
I switched from being a long term Prusa fan to Bambu. Because everything feels similar ... but a lot more polished and smoother. That being said ... lets see how long the reward system will stay that lucrative. Time will tell ...
@@-ljk- Prusa gives you like 30 points when your model is downloaded 100 times, sometimes you get no points at all when you reach a milestone for no particular reason.
You need 350 points for one roll of filament and still have to pay for shipping.
It costs me about 16€ and about 3 months to get a "free" roll of filament, which still costs me about 2x what I pay for 1kg of Sunlu filament, just for Prusa shipping.
I mean free stuff is free stuff, I'm not complaining, but Prusa isn't really comparable to BambuLab here...
The best part is by growing their marketplace people are able to get a printer, therefore having new customer that are already established with the marketplace rinse and repeat.
This is exactly how i got my 2nd machine. A p1s combo
im so glad that i found this out, but i know have to do this very quickly before they inevitably take this away bc too many people are doing it lol
Hopefully, it lasts a while but only time will tell.
My coworker just got his third P1S combo with just points. I'm about 3/4 the way to my first lol.
That's awesome! I love to hear when people get free printers.

Building a print farm from makerworld points, and most of my consumables and spare parts are covered.
I have thou also spent large amounts of money to get starting before gaining traction with the points.
A print farm!? You must have got a lot of points! Did you buy a lot of printers to start?
@@kevbot. it's a somewhat long story.
I started with ordering 2 X1C combo in september, but noticed at that point I wouldn't use both printers enough at that time and sold one of them.
Then I noticed makerworld and got into 3D modelling and publishing my own models.
I gained traction with some of my models over halloween and found a style of image creation (hueforge with glow in the dark filaments) that got really good feedback. I bought filament, spare parts and consumables from the points.
Then I ordered a A1 mini combo, mostly paid in full with my own money as I was curios of the new model, then a short while after I had enough giftcards to get a P1S combo. Then before Christmas I got a A1 (standard). I sold that quickly as I reconsidered my available space and feel that it's better to focus on P1S printers for me.
Now I just got points to get another P1S combo.
I might sell the A1 mini and get a third P1S. (Which would by my 4th printer three P1S's and one X1C)
To summarise: I have spent a fair bit of my own money, but the gift cards from makerworld have reduced my cost significantly. Let's say 25-35% of my total cost.
My issue now is to actually have a good enough "business case" to justify having my own print farm 😂😂
I have got the big three tech touch screen to be able to control all printers at once 😅
I'm slightly embarrassed, but I might have gone way to hard into 3D printing this time 😂 Now I'm almost forced to start content creation or a 3D printing business 😂🙈
@@kevbot. it's a quite long story.
But it started when I was trying to sell 3 printers that was not in use do to time and trobleshooting (Ender3 pro, CR10-s and tenlog tl3d).
Then I discovered the X1C and bought two x1c combo in september.
I quickly saw that one would be more than enough at that point and sold one.
I then noticed makerworld in october and got interested in modeling my own models due to feeling I got something back if I managed to publish desirable models. The contest over Halloween spiked my interested and I put alot of time and effort to publish models that could be of interest. Some of the models got popular and gained some income in terms of points.
I also found my own style of hueforge images that got popular (hueforge with glow in the dark filament)
I bought consumables, spare parts and filaments from the first points. Then I purchased the A1 mini combo (from my own money) out of interest as I liked Bambu Lab products and community and wanted to experience the new model.
Then I partially covered a P1S combo out of gift cards in November.
Then I bought a A1 in December also partially covered by gift cards.
Now I am about to get a second P1S combo fully covered.
I have sold the A1 and will most likely sell the A1 mini and buy a third P1S to focus on the P1S and X1C models as the form factor suits my available space better. (I love the quality and silence of printing from the A1 series, so it's only due to space management)
I also have the big three tech touch screen that can control up yo 9 printers at the same time.
Long story short. The giftcards and makerworld platform has helped partially financing a potential 3D printing business or content creation posibility and reducing the risk of investment.
Now my biggest worry is to figure out what I should make 😬😅
@@kevbot. it's a long story, but TH-cam have deleted the comments when I tried to describe it in detail.
The short story is that makerworld and bambu lab has made me love 3D printing again and reduced the investment and risk of maybe making it to a business or at least covering cost and efficiency of a hobby 😊
I will most likely be at three P1S Combo's and one X1C combo within the next weeks. + spare parts, consumables and filaments. Where I have covered 60-70% from my own pocket and the rest is covered through giftcards.
@@madness3D_ Thats insane!!
My downloads are pretty niche but I'm sitting on £105 in vouchers after 2 months. I have the same models on printables and have only had a spool of filament from them, and that I had to pay £13 shipping for. I was going to buy an A1 combo but then the recall happened so gives me more time to add some more vouchers.

@@kevbot.hello, I was wondering which Facebook page was shown in the video because it looked like it full of 3d printing experts. Could you include a link please. Thanks!
How exactly did you get one for free with your amount of downloads? If Im correct, it takes about 8820 points to get a printer for free, which even if you got 3 points per download (which only is true if for the first 50 downloads of each model, which means most of your downloads are worth 1 point), you would have around 7000, which when accounting for most downloads being worth less than that, you should have I think it was less than 3000 points (not including print profiles, but the print profiles don't get as many points or downloads). So, how did you get that many points, is there something I am missing?
I'm not sure how it all breaks down, but I had about 7,840 points when I got the printer, with around 2500 downloads. You do get addition points for print profiles and for just uploading models. I'm working on getting a second printer now.
how can you get more points if you're not good at making models and presenting them on the site? I also can't make a print profile because I don't have a bamboo printer
WoW thanks for the knowledge, im already on my way to get a free printer, wish me luck 🍀

Thank you! I hope you get a printer fast!
I don't think it's gonna last much longer since you are trying to popularize it. Nothing is for free forever, they are only doing it as a great marketing but not even china can supply us with free printers forever especially after the big A1 recall which is also a great income loss for them whatsoever.
You are probably right, but keep in mind that they wouldn't be giving away so many points if they thought it was bad for business. It is great marketing, like you said. They are bringing a lot of designers/creators over to there platform who are going to post great models for them, which in turn will attract more people who 3D print to there site. The more people they have in there ecosystem, the more money they will potentially make. So I'm sure they look at being generous with there points as a great thing for them to do. That's my thoughts on it, but I could be wrong.
You also have to consider the barriers to creating these models. There is likely just a small demographic that would dedicate their spare time for learning the modeling software and engineering these designs. More people would tell themselves that they want to do this, but even fewer will actually go through with it
what if dont have a printer already (so i can test the things i model), and what software should i use to start?, i know a bit of blender already but i never see it being used for 3d printing
I also don't have a printer, but in my town, the library offers printing of 3D models for quite cheap, I checked there if everything fits. For design, I suggest Blender because it's free and quite good for such tasks. Side note: if you have no option to print the model, put it in Bambu Studio and see if everything works there, then most likely everything should be fine
Great video gonna try to do this to collect me the full set of ams that Is if I can get the hub with out scalpers
I ended up getting an A1 combo with points but returned it for the recall. Now I’m just going to save up for the new flagship since I already have an X1C.
That's a good idea. I'm going to do the same. I hope they release a multi tool head printer. 👌
You are really dumb to return the A1 for that stupid recall. You could have printed the cable holder and all would be fine.
So again copying from others?😂😂🎉😁

How do you get so many points this fast ?
I started the same time as you, what are you doing to succeed?
@@powerpow365My model was already known on Printables and had been downloaded over 40k times. I also used the same thumbnail. Maybe one or the other has recognized it.
But I didn't use advertising then, as I do now - but it would make sense to do so. It is important to have a high-quality thumbnail that already shows a solution to a problem or the benefits. Furthermore, the name is extremely important. It should be memorable and self-explanatory.
A good product description and other nice looking pictures are logically also helpful.
But ultimately it comes down to a good design that also takes into account the limitations of 3D printing. The majority of makers are also trying their hand at smaller objects that can be printed quickly.
I'm an industrial designer myself and I think it's great that so many people are interested in product design because of 3D printing. But publishing great, successful products also takes years of experience, a lot of research, timing or sometimes even luck. You have to remember that. :)

do you need to print your models that have you made? that still requires a 3d printer in the first place if you do
He described multiple ways in this video that dont require a 3d printer. You dont need a 3d printer to make and upload models, nor to be good at using slicing software.
Oh, Idk I saw a comment of his saying that one has to do a test print and all that to make sure all's fine so thought I'd make sure by posting my own, thanks@@Sivanot
What is your recommendation on earning points if I don’t have a printer to start off with.
That's tough; you really need a printer to earn points so you can test your designs and print profiles. If I were you, I would buy a cheap printer just temporarily and then use it to start earning points for another printer.
You could also technically get away with designing models and uploading them to Makerworld without a printer. Just make sure to slice the model after you make it and really study it to see if it will print correctly.
Same for me, x1c combo and 20kg of spools on the way for free ( in just 3 weeks)
