FINALLY! A reaction to the mighty Captain Beyond. They were overlooked in 1975 & they're overlooked now -- except by us fanatical patrons of their music like me. A great, great band. Please more!

The Japanese didn't overlook this band. After this album went out of print, that is where one had to go to get a copy.

in december of '76 i went, with a friend, to a house where a band lived. they had a studio in the celler of the old house. egg crates on the walls, a little booth for the sound guy, the whole garage band thing. first time i'd ever heard a full on electric rock and roll band live sitting less than ten feet in front of the band. and these guys played dancing madly backwards and then went right into zep's dancing days. they also did a thousand days of yesterday. phew. good times. :D

This album should be listened to ini t's entirety. This song is an awesome kind of interlude. But you should start from the beginning with the outstanding "Dancing Madly Backwards". Cool fact is that the singer is first mark Deep Purple singer Rod Evans. In my opinion their first self titled album "Captain Beyond" is as good or even better than Purples "IN Rock" or "Machine Head".

Elton? David Bowie? Think more in the direction of the Allman Brothers and Southern Power Rock. This album was dedicated to Dwaine Allman. These guys didn't need two drummers though, but just Bobby Caldwell.

This was not psychedelic, but they spoofed that age lyrically (lovingly). These guys weren't a match for Pink Floyd or Quicksilver Messenger Service, but very few are. Quicksilver never sold out to their local audience in San Francisco. They were the Allman Brothers back before the Allman Brothers got started. They were two great dueling guitarists backed by two drummers and a concert pianist. Lots of proficiency and effort wasted on a crowd of nobodies.
