Blame it on Crapicorn Records. The Band tore it up the first time around. Next LP, they were playing watered down Allman Bros riffs. And that was the end of Captain Beyond.@guymendez8236
STRAIGHT TO THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME FOR THE CAPTAIN - One of rock's greatest most important bands that changed everything with THE INCREDIBLE ALBUM 1972 !!!! VOTED IN 2019 !!
The baddest assed Band of 1972. Captain Beyond was the Supergroup of its time. Top to bottom, classic asskicking riffs. All brought to you by Deep Purple, Johnny Winter and Iron Butterfly. What a killer line up!
I think he would have been more highly acclaimed and revered had he not dropped off the face of the earth, for he had one of the best voices in rock. 😎
Complete head trip from my youth. I started listening to Captain Beyond to look cool but ended up genuinely liking the music. Lol. EDIT: I still listen to this a lot in 2020. It never gets old.
This is my fave CB tune from the first time I heard it as a teen. The vocals, the music, the energy still makes me want to throw myself around the room. Thanks for sharing this reminder of my youth.
I loved this album when I was a junior in high school and I do mean "high" school, this album took me to places in my mind that I might never see again, at least while I'm alive that music did exactly as they wanted it transformed our consciousness in a good way I might add
This is really interesting because I have smiliar kind of experience and memories regarding this album except that I was a senior in High school back then and I graduated in '12. :D same story, different generations :)
I was in a band in 1972 > we at the time did a lot of copy bands type of music.. we played many of these songs and since Captain Beyond didn't get much air play most people thought the songs were ours. In 1977 we rehursed in their old Capricorn studio in Macon Ga. One of my all time favorite bands for sure.
'Honey, your face is a frozen/ Frozen as could be/ Baby, your face is like a block of ice/ Cold as the deep dark sea'. No truer words have ever been spoken:)
CB could be considered 70's "alternative". Definitely not main stream. Even at the time, no one knew who they were. Budgie is another one. Anyway, while the punks were listening to the 'Stones', the real music went over their heads. Not much has changed. Ciao
Actually, Lee told me that the reason that listed only Bobby and Rod as the songwriters is that Lee and Rhino were still under contract with the record company with Iron Butterfly. There is no way that a drummer and a singer wrote these songs alone.
A guitar player's dream. Rhino had that ability like Jimmy Page to incorporate so many different guitar parts and tones into a cohesive whole. Add in Lee Dorman's bass, Bobby Caldwell's drumming, and Rod Evans smooth vocals and you have a seamless Classic Rock album that stands the test of time. It was thousands of days ago, but it seems like only yesterday! Where's the start, where's the end?
We did. Molly McGregor 72-76 New England rockers. We’d open a nights gig with this kickin’ medley. I have a tape made at The Red Stallion, Sugarloaf, Maine from a small crowd on a Tuesday night. Lo-fi but great fun, memories and rock and roll!
Here is a re-upload of the songs, no cut off at the end this time. th-cam.com/video/5yFXWOynzso/w-d-xo.html
You appear to be a "young" man. What brought you to C.B. ? 😎
I saw them together at the warehouse in New Orleans early 70's. Very earth shattering, lava and fire engulfing everything. 😎🎭
We. Did. Acid. In. The. 70s. And. Captain. Beyond. Was. Some. Of. The. Best. !! Along. With. Vandergraph. Generator, afradidas. Child, spirit. , and. All. Kinds. Of. Import. Music. And. Hawkwind!!
Proof music was at it's best in the 1970s. I have been listening to this album since it came out. So many people do NOT know about this band.
I know, it's like how can a band be this good with an all star line up that big but somehow still miss the big time ?
I do, I saw them at The Hollywood bowl 1972 on acid!
Blame it on Crapicorn Records.
The Band tore it up the first time around.
Next LP, they were playing watered down Allman Bros riffs.
And that was the end of Captain Beyond.@guymendez8236
One of the more underrated rock bands of all time.
My dad jams to this so much and I love it! Some of the greatest music I have ever heard and I love to hear my dad play it on guitar and sing it! 🥰❤️
Rock cannot get better than it's greatest album ever recorded ,..flat out !!!
The 70's branded us with the best mind melting music. Yay, can't complain.

Love this album & "Captain Beyond"---Seen them in concert in 1972---Great band!!!
Rod Evans should be much more famous and revered and appreciated. \m/ \m/
I think he would have been more highly acclaimed and revered had he not dropped off the face of the earth, for he had one of the best voices in rock. 😎
Totally agree
So true
He was a rock god. Good looking with amazing voice.
Complete head trip from my youth. I started listening to Captain Beyond to look cool but ended up genuinely liking the music. Lol. EDIT: I still listen to this a lot in 2020. It never gets old.
Im so glad I saw these guys! I listened to this album more than any album ever! Never gets old!

In the words of Abe Lincoln, in that train commercial...." You ain't lyin' "
How awesome the rhythm....love the progression..most under rated band in the world! Bobby Caldwell same...brillient drummer
What was it ? 40 years ago i bought this album. At 64 i still play these riffs on my Strat.👍
48 years ago! Album released in 1972!

armworth is my fave. this album rocks. written by the drummer.
I so regret never seeing them in concert🎶💕🎶
By far, this is rock's Greatest album ever recorded,..no other album can come close to this !!!
I went to a concert and this band out played the band I went to see what great time I had never heard of them
Wahnsinn, ich liebe diesen Sound , hat mich ab den 70er begleitet. Madhouse in Hamburg ,Apollo ,Sounds,Big Apple, Past Ten.

One of the trippiest album covers!!
The album cover was on the bass drum head of The Foo Fighters in their early days.
I bought two of the 3D covers one was going to be put up sealed. I've had more copies of this album stolen that any other.
I don't know if it's just me but I see eyes & faces in the background of the cover.
They were here in San Antonio, Tx. '72 or '73 at Minicipal Auditorium.
Torn down now Tobin Center.
Opening act. Never saw main act.
Austin as well
My favorite album also. EPIC !

Nice songs to play. Great stuff.

Timeless music, even to this day.
VERY GOOD............................
Caraleo que riffs são esses? Incrível
Thousand days of Yesterday 😍😍😍
Grande capitão .

A drummer wrote most of Rush's songs
@@erichathaway8104 He wrote most of the lyrics. not the music!
They had an all star line up right down to Deep Purple's original singer and a cult following. Just a sad surprise they didn't hit the big time.
Legendary 🤟🔥☠️
JESUS, MOTHER OF GOD...
how many nights on the road and watching the sunrise over the mountain listening to this as we go high and trip to beyond
great memories!!!...
One word. Auesome 🎵🎶
