    Thanks Dunna, you're always very helpful. Couple of things I like to do based on your tips, maybe some of us are not aware of it :
    0:59 What I like to do is create my folder structure in the finder of my computer (Project name> Footage/Audio/Music/logos...) and drag the main folder directly on the "Master" name, not underneath it. This way, everything is imported using the same folder structure I created and I don't have to create new folders in Resolve beforehand.
    10:23 Something that really works well for me is to select my Audio and Footage folders, right click on it and select Auto Sync Audio. Surprisingly it syncs all the audio and I rarely have to select all the files that I want to sync. It's a great time saver.

      @@dunnadidit I think there´s also a "ducking" effect in Davinci. I´m coming from music production so "side chaining" is something I´m familiar with. Basically you set a trigger (in this case your spoken voice) and you tell it to reduce the volume of the music track whenever you talk, automatically. There usually is some way of fine tuning the amount of volume reduction.

    Cool TIP 2, but if I may add something. If you want your entire timeline to have the black bars, you can go to "Timeline" and choose "Output Blanking". Then you don't have to add the cropping on each clip.
    Ty for your videos, they got me into Davinci Resolve 3 years ago and was a huge help!

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha I wondered if someone would bring that up! That’s a great tip for that specific use for sure! I didn’t really mean for it to be a specific example of the “cinematic crop” it just kind of went there by accident lol. Usually what I use the crop overlay for is chopping off the parts of an image or screen recording that I don’t want shown. Like the url bar of a screen recorded web browser or something like that. But output blanking is a great tool too!

    Yo Dunna! thanks for the tips. For a music track and a dialogue track, using an "Ducker" or a compressor with a side-chain is a cleaner way (less noticeable). And you can put it on the whole track instead of the file, so it works the same no matter the track you put as music. Just a bonus tip! 😜

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great tip! I’ve never had much luck getting a fucker or a side chained compressor to sound how I want it to so I generally revert to doing it manually. There are little things like a bit of anticipation of the dialogue starting/stopping and the ability to keep the volume low in gaps in the dialogue at times that it just doesn’t do for me. But hey, if it works for you then I say keep doing it! Thanks for adding your tip!

    On Tip 5, why do you use volume automation versus maybe using the ducker? Is it simply because as you say, you want more control of the volume by spots in the audio clip. Great video. Thanks.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s part of it for sure, I just cant get the ducker to do exactly what I want it to do. I like my volume to dip a bit in advance of the actual scene change sometimes and you’re limited on controls for that. Then I also like to keep the volume low sometimes in pauses in the dialogue and the ducker doesn’t like that. And finally, the issue I usually have with a ducker is that if it gets 90% of the things right and 10% wrong, you kind of have to start from scratch and I find that very frustrating. But it definitely works from time to time! I’m just so used to nearly 20 years of volume automation that it doesn’t seem like a big deal to me to go through that process.

    I'd really like an option to keep the picture in the frame when moving and zooming, it would be so easy to implement and save us lots of time and errors!

    @dunnadidit Don't think you mentioned it but you can use the transform overlay to help you key frame.
    Start the first key frames for what you want changed ie zoom, position etc. then jog the clip to the next point then transform the clip and the keyframes generate on that new part of the clip

    Regarding Tip 5: another (I think a better) way is to use buses and add the automation there. This way you can reposition the clip however you want without having to readjust the timing of your automation. :)

      This is a great point! I wish that audio automation was a little more user friendly in DVR (coming from other audio editing software like Pro Tools) but this is definitely a solid way to make this happen!

    It now has watch folders so the bins update automatically if you add clips to a folder on your system. It also has automatic audio ducking too. It had it before on fair light for quite some time also but not as automatic as now I believe.

    Love the audio tips but I have a different question about syncing up audio in regards to the edit. Lets say I have a video that has it's own audio track and I make a bunch of edits but then I want to drop in another separate audio track that is the same length and I want it edited in the same way as the video was edited. How do I copy over all of the same cuts at the same time stamps with the new audio track so they match up? Thank you for your help.

    Thanks Dunna, very helpful video. In a future video you could give us some tips on how to combine a title with a graphic, for example a colored semi-transparent banner. This is easy to do by overlaying the title with the graphic using a second track. But I don't know how to do it on a single track, which incorporates both the title and the graphic. It would be useful to create a preset to use every time I want to recall that same style.

    In Tip 5 on the audio track how are you able to create a couple of points? When I click on my audio track with Opt + Click, do not see the points being created. Pl explain

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s a bit tricky, you have to make sure you’re opt+click ing right on the volume automation line. Once you get used to it, it’s not bad, but at first it can be a bit tough to find.

    Thanks for the tips! The one related to audio keyframes - it might be a good solution to set up audio ducking the way you like it and then set it as a pre-set to reuse every time? :)

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the audio ducking to work how I would want it to. But that might just be because I am super picky and have almost 20 years of audio engineering experience behind me haha.

    Hi, I have a short video that includes people talking together with a song mix.
    I currently have DAVINCI 18.6. My question is,
    in version 19.1 is it possible to remove the song and leave only the talking in the video? Thanks

    Tip number 4 - You could just used a sidechain compressor to duck the music while you are talking. If you do this, no audio automation needed. (Yes I'm an audio geek)
