@@ConnerJohn The Keyboard shortcut "P" that you've always mentioned, really did reduce a lot of time in my editing workflow, and since ive already finished your other video, ive been looking for this shortcut where there's a method to add it as broll and without audio, and then thankfully i found yours which did answered my questions.

Thanks so much for the kind words! And awesome dude! If your computer is ever slow playing that footage back make sure to use proxies! That will help a ton!
I’ll give you a video idea. Da Vinci 10x faster WORKFLOW (go from end to end from importing, to edit, to whatever you do next like titles, audio, grade whatever, shorts, etc)
Love that idea. And that would be a LONGGGG video lol. I have tons of tips and tricks for every step of a full video workflow. I would love to make that full video one day. In the meantime, I might do that on TH-cam live soon so its more personable and easier to answer questions right away! Thanks for the idea!
Great content but it would have been easier if you included how you set up your shortcuts because following along ain't possible and I've found myself trying to create a shortcut but I don't know the name of the action I'm looking for to assign it to a key I want
Understandable! Check out my first video and I show how I setup some of the keyboard shortcuts! You can also download and import my keyboard shortcuts from my website in the description. Theres a video on the page that shows how to do it. Hope that helps :)
One thing that's really unappealing for me is the overall layout. It's just so unintuitive that you gotta watch tutorials on youtube to even begin to understand this mess. Almost nothing is clear when you open this program for the first time. For example, a thing as simple as chroma key is so weird to do in davinci compared to other editing softwares. I used movavi for quite a while, there you just click on the clip, go to options, select chroma key and set it up. Right after you can position the object where you want by just dragging it on the screen. While in davinci you got 5 different tabs below, gotta swich to one of them, click a mysterious symbol, click on the green background, click on another mysterious symbol, go back to the previous tab and I don't even know yet how to move the object to a certain position. While davinci offers many options and provides a huge potential for the things you can do which is quite appealing, the layout is such a mess that it kinda scares me off...
I totally understand the frustrations. And there are times when using other softwares for super quick effects is more appealing. That being said, I believe that Davinci is the best software to edit without limiting what is possible. Let's take your keying example. Everything you said is possible in Davinci and it might take a couple more clicks but, I would assume, that DaVinci has a lot more tools to fine-tune the key and get a better look. And all of it can be done on the same tab (The edit tab) Here's how: -Select your clip, head the effects panel, and type in "keyer" (And make sure search all folders is selected) - Drag the keyer of choice (I like the 3D keyer) onto the clip - Click the drop-down on the bottom left of the viewer window and select "Open FX overlay" - Drag on the window what you would like to key out. Then your key is complete - Go back to the dropdown and select "Transform" - Then you can click and drag to position the footage where you would like. If you want to be scared of a professional editing suite.... open Premiere Pro or after effects lol. That being said, it is all very subjective. I will joke about other editing software and how I hate them but the reality is... They are all great in their own ways. Whichever software is easiest for you to bring your vision to life is the software you should use. And when you want to experiment with a new software you have to give yourself plenty of time to learn and be patient. When I switched from Premiere, my immediate reaction was to bail on Davinci because of the same concerns you have. But I am SO GLAD I powered through and stuck with DaVinci. Welp.... that was a rant.... thank you for attending my TEDxTalk.
Its an OLD LG ultrawide. I wont bother with telling you the specific one because I would not recommend it. The screenspace is nice but the color accuracy isnt great and the HDMI port is very fragile (if the cord get barely tapped it blacks out the screen). Its probably around a 2018 model so I will be in the market for a new monitor soon. I love the ultrawide but will be spending the extra money for something with more color accuracy.
Like and Subscribe didn't glow, but could be because they've already been clicked/selected! But yeah, when other TH-camrs say it, there's a little colourful highlight
not sure i completely understand your question. But maybe try highlighting all of your clips and hit (Command + T) to add default transition at each clip. I dont use the speed editor so in that aspect i cant help, sorry.
There are lots of features that are easier in CapCut and other softwares. The question is always... can the software im using do everything I want to do for the edit and how much control do I have over the fine tuning. But if someone took some clips on their phone and wont to throw together a quick, simple, video. Then capcut is a great option! But if you want to color grade log footage, add advanced VFX, and have full control of the footage and audio than I'd always recommend Davinci
@@ConnerJohn Yes I know DaVinci Resolve is very good software but many necessary features of other software need to be added to DaVinci Resolve. And I myself use both DaVinci Resolve and CapCut
@@ConnerJohn Yes I know DaVinci Resolve is very good software, but many necessary features of other software need to be added to DaVinci Resolve. And I myself use both DaVinci Resolve and CapCut
I agree! Always room for improvement. Im still waiting for them to make a larger retime curve window within the edit tab. For both speed and transform controls.
@@ConnerJohn Yes, The editing page should have keyframe features like those on the Fusion page, along with motion blur, and timeline similar to CapCut. 😅💀This would make the editing process much more enjoyable.
You can head to list view and right click on the column layout. From there find "usage". You can then sort by usage and either apply a color to the clip or build a new bin based on that. Also, You can use a smart bin. Create a new smart bin and select "media pool properties" - "usage" - "is greater than" - "1". Create the smart bin and youll have a bin of all your used clips without having to change the original structuring of the project.
