  • When doing work on automotive brakes, often times air bubbles will be introduced into the brake lines. Since air is compressible, this causes the brake pedal to feel squishy or not work at all. To get the air out of the lines, you need to do a process called "bleeding" the brakes. Essentially, you're pumping enough brake fluid through the lines that it pushes the air bubbles out, ensuring the brake lines have only brake fluid in them.
This video demonstrates how to do that using a 1967 Dodge Power Wagon WM300 classic pickup truck, but is equally applicable to nearly every other vehicle with hydraulic brakes. Whether you have a modern, vintage, or antique car or truck, disc brakes or drum brakes, with or without a brake booster - nearly all of them use this same system.
