I've been through this. In fact I'm heading back in to replace the fuel pump. I used Blaster rust catalyst on the bed bolts.. if you can break them loose with a breaker bar and back them out just a little you can spray the Blaster against the bolt head gap. It'll run down the bolt shaft and get to the threads. Some of them have the threaded ends inaccessible from underneath.
Just discovered leaking as I tried to fill my gas tank. Didn't realize I had to lift up the bed. Think I will have my son help with this project. Thanks for the excellent video....
Doing this today on a friends ranger. I'm going to use jack stands between frame and bed to hold it up. I'm changing the fuel sending unit and fuel neck.
$24 on ebay with shipping. I like the way you angled the bed to avoid tail light removal. I am now on my 3rd hose on my 1996. Arizona drys rubber real bad.
I have a question I hope someone can answer. I own a '97 Ford Ranger with the same problem. When I fill the tank, as long as I don't try to put more in after the pump kicks off it seems to be OK. But if I try to put more in to "top it off" gas pours out onto the concrete. My check engine light stays on all the time, the code is P1443. I've replaced the charcoal canister, the purge valve, and the thermistor, the check engine light is still on. Seems to run fine. My question: Can the leak in the gas hose cause the check engine light to come on?? Can someone please reply? Thank you.
Yes it can cause a check engine light if the filler neck has a leak/hole...the fuel system must be air tight if not it will trip a check engine code,Evap code.
I'm having the same problem now.. well.. i fixed my filler neck because it was leaking..but some of the hoses seemed old..so I'll change them soon and check with you to let you know.
We replaced the fuel neck in our '90 Ranger in 45 minutes start to finish. This was a low mileage rust free, garage kept vehicle so the bed bolts were a breeze. We lifted the whole bed off.

if u unhooked a few lines from the lights in the back...bed slides down or can be moved down and set on tires with two people
Finally a helpful video. Thank you
