Did you happen to notice (or would you happen to know) if there's a check ball in the filler neck for those trucks? Trying to get the fuel out of the tank of a 98 Ranger that's been sitting around for a couple years to replace it with some known good fuel, trying to figure out the easiest way to do it... if there is a check ball valve, think I could probably just drop the tank enough to remove the filler neck and siphon from there?
What was the purpose in removing the tank ? Did the sending unit/pump assembly get replaced ? Was the tank dirty ? Was this for demonstration purposes only ?
I have a 2003 2WD 4.0 and bought a gas tank from a same year 4WD 4.0. The 4X4 has a skid plate and it seems to me that Ford designed this one 1/2 inch shorter in height, therefore my fuel pump does not transfer over. The gasket is also slightly larger. I didn’t want to replace the pump but the gas tank came from 2 states away. What pump do I need?
The filler is secured to the body with three hex-head screws on my 1997 Ranger. It would be very easy to remove, but could be very difficult to reattach unless one has an assistant.
On the 1993 Ford Ranger PU (125" wheelbase), the fuel tank would not simply 'drop straight down'. It would not go back far enough until we removed the bolt out of the rear shackle for the leaf springs, removed the driver side shock at the top mount and unbolted stuff on top of the rear axle. What a crappy design... way to go Ford. Can't even buy a fuel tank for a Ranger. What a world.
If you are trying to do this with just a jack, you really need to jack it up by the frame to get the driveshaft down far enough to be able to get the tank straps off, as seen in th-cam.com/video/OKbo6wrKCk4/w-d-xo.html
+Tv2079 Valenti We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I'm doing a 93 today and the front extended area of the tank does not let one drop the other end of the tank down to go beneath the rear axle. We are stuck.

Been doing this for years was just trying to see exactly where the fuel pump sat. Very great video, appreciate you.
This video was very helpful, also I like the safety tip about fuel that may be still in the line . Just what I wanted. Thank you

I just cut a square out of the bed and changed the pump in 20 minutes
You should be able to unscrew the filler from the outside rather than taking the hose off, I think?

is this the best way to replace the fuel pump? or bed removal is easier?
+Jay Geo This method isn't too bad. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
Bed removal is a Lot better
My 2011 ranger doesn't have a 50b fuse. Which would it be in my case?

You saved me, thank you!
Where does the hose go to that is on the back side of the fuel tank
Heard of pb-blaster?
Hello there, so I have the issue that when I go to fill up for gas the gas tank spits it back out, any ideas on what could be causing this issue?
Fuel vent is not properly ventilated
Helpful video but it might pay to state the obvious. Get most of the gas out before you start so the full tank of gas doesn't fall on you!
What does a job like this cost?
Thumbs up before I saw this, You always that good thanks
+John Jude Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
What's the connector on the back of the tank ? And what's its purpose
Connector on the back is for the gas fumes canister

thanks for the heads up
