- In August, al Nusra Front jihadists took control of Syria’s side of the border crossing with Israel and kidnapped over 40 United Nations peacekeepers - who have since been released.
But al Nusra Front, an al Qaeda-affiliate, isn’t Israel’s only threat from Syria. President Bashar al-Assad’s military, in a possible effort to bait Israel into its civil war to shore up Arab sympathies, has been lobbing mortars across the border. Just a few weeks ago, the Israeli military shot down a Syrian plane flying over the Golan Heights - the first time it has done so since the 1980s.
In part one of a five-part series, VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky gets exclusive access to an IDF special operation, highlighting an unusual relationship they have with their Syrian enemies across the border.

As an Israeli, I know from friends in the military and the media.
Syrian soldiers wounded in Syria, they have no choice they are injured, no doctors or medical supplies reliable closer. So they prefer to go to their enemy (Israel)
Because they know that we do not leave someone to die even though he was wounded enemy.
as a stud in 12 grade in israel we been with school in golan the guid told us that a rabel and a syrian soldier can find themself together in one room in hospital. ironic huh

I read testimonies of Syrian civilians (like a mother and her daughters,in one of the cases) who came crawling and bleeding to the border to get help,even though they were afraid because their entire life Israelis were demonized by the regime.

That's amazing, but not surprising to me. Those guys will remember who helped them, regardless of how they feel. Some of them will be in the future leadership or positions of influence in Syria, so it can have a major effect. Im sure Israel is supplying some help to the Kurds as well, since our "president" in the US won't send anything directly. That old Centurian tank in the beginning was probably a wreck from the 73 war, possibly one of the 77th armored brigade's tanks from taht desperate battle on the Golan. (I read "The Hieghts of Courage" by Col. Avigdor Khalahani - my fav book).
***** I respectfully suggest you get your history from someplace other than the Democratic party and pres Obama. They had part of the land to begin with, under the British, and after declaring independence, they were attacked by the surrounding Arab countries when they declared independence. They wound up with more land as a result of that war to begin with, and threats posed to hem later. The public and college education system is also a lousy place to learn history.

Wow, that's amazing. You can be sure that the people being helped by this will remember where it came from. That Centurian tank was interesting in the beginning, thouogh they were used in the 67 war by the IDF, the upgraded versiojn was the primary tank in use on the Golan in 73 in that desperate battle, where the Centurians of the 77th armored brigade held the Syrians, wih the help of some reservist Super Shermans. Some amazing history there, and it's just getting more interesting.
People who talks about ISIS don't undestand basic facts about war in Syria. ISIS troops located near turkish and iraqi borders, it's in other part of country.On israeli border they dealing with small groops and Al-Nusra most famous one.

Most people here are oversimplifying things, and jumping to idiotic conclusions.
The edit here is problematic, because Nusra is not the only group in this area of Syria. If we examine only the level of initial treatment seen in the movie, then it seems that there is some form of coordination between Israel and the rebels. Which rebels? Probably from various groups (even Nusra), and it's most likely that the FSA (the Western backed Suni group), is the one which coordinates their evacuation to Israel. To conclude from this movie that Israel is aiding Al Queda is absolutely rediculous, even in a place like the Mid-East, where you have no friends, only "Frenemies".

Now, what does Israel expect to achieve with this? In treating children, absolutely nothing. They´re just continuing with the humanitarian work that they already do in regards to other children, many of whom belong to other enemy nations. In treating the fighters, to prevent more radical factions from taking hold of the border, and thus mantain it quiet. It´s not so hard to see, if you have a minimum of common sense, and are not blinded by hatred towards Israel o brainwashed by the media.
