Thank you for this report it’s SO difficult getting any information on Syria after non-stop coverage during the war. I was involved in the settling family of 5 to Canada. I can’t help wondering will this situation ever be resolved. I think of Germany, 25 years after the war the country was rebuilt. I do not see this happening in Syria. Yes, the Marshall plan poured millions into Europe but now this is the responsibility of the Muslim wealthy nations like Saudi Arabia to rebuild their fellow nations. However, as long as they export extreme politics and religion, along with their support, there will be no hope.

There's literal translation and there's contextual translation. Salam alaikum is used as greeting, so in context it can be translated as another greeting like hello. If you perform a literal translation and use 'peace be upon you' western audiences will be left perplexed because there's no context for it.

The issue here is that the Kurds are one ethnic group in Syrian and are a minority to Arabs. The line drawn on their flag of Syria partitions it into another state that the Syrian government does not recognise. Nor does any other country. This will mean that what has happened in Iraq will also happen in Syria. Tensions will rise amongst ethnicities, and the one with more guns will have authority but will also be repeatedly challenged by other groups with arms. These weapons are from the West and Russia and are a nightmare for the region. Added to this are the Turks to the north and the Kurdish PKK group, which is a terrorist organisation internationally. Propping up another Western back authority doesn't mean peace will prevail. These lands should not be divided but rather reabsorbed by the central government. The US doesn't want that because Russia supports the government. So these Kurdish fighters are actually props for the US and the Middle East, as such, remains a ground for proxy wars between Russia and the US to continue forever more. It's far better for the US and Russia to get out of the Middle East and leave their resources alone so they can prosper and solve their own issues
Yep, they are pawns being played in the aim of destabilising a region in benefit of foreign interest. Ethnic conflicts are sturred up by foreign interests. Many ethnicities coexist for decades. I don't know of any Syrian who hates kurds and vice versa.
Any problems Syria and other countries in the region have are a result of their inability to lead and form a functioning government and society. Kurds were all ways in all the countries they are in been treated poorly, if these countries don’t want trouble with Kurds then they shouldn’t have treated them so badly they wanted to separate.

It is perfectly justified for the U.S. to stay in northern Syria. The Kurds would get assaulted by the Turkish and Syrian government without the presence of U.S. Troops. Kurds also saved millions of people from becoming victims of isis and defeated Isis from taking over 100% of northern Syria, half of Syria. Not to mention Iraqi Kurds on its success against Isis in Iraq.
So different public agenda today... Forgotten places& people... So sad...
