    From what I've researched, nobody does sumps quite as hardy as Custom Aquariums. I've never been that drawn to sumps, but man, do they know how to make a convert out of me😜. Also, you have a true knack for explaining anything in a very easygoing manner. Thanks, pecktec.

    A Custom Aquariums sump, I'm so jealous! It's going to keep your tank so clean and make maintenance so easy. Your parameters are going to be so much more stable with the added water volume and the flow over all of that media and filtration. It's also nice to have a friend like Leah (sp?). I'm looking forward to the 'scape.

    Yes...I'm about to setup mine. I realized that I needed to get a reducer. I don't know why custom aquariums wouldn't make the setup fit what is on 99.9% of the aquariums.

    Wow! what a really nice setup, all those smaller tanks helped you plan and prep for this bigger tank. Spending a little more to help with the maintenance is always a good thing, can't wait to see it finished!

    I'm in Michigan and I'm surrounded by trillions of gallons of water yet my water bill is through the roof and I only have 3 small tanks. I only do water changes twice a month. I would love to set up a 220 gallon aquarium except my water company would rake me over the coals.

    Seamless sump!!! What

  • @HalfManHalfCichlid
    @HalfManHalfCichlid 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't imagine having a sump where you cannot clearly see what is going on inside the sump from the front. When the media needs changing? optimizing the flow of fluidized media like K1? Seeing changes in chamber water levels from the front (indicates need for media cleaning and adjustments), clogging of biomedia etc. I always end up with something living in my sump like baby fish that gets sucked in through the weir, shrimp that get established in there, etc, which I love to visit. Why did you pick a design where you cannot see what is going on? I can only guess that this type sump enables folks to "plug and play" with a sump, and helps them overcome some of their fears, while accepting the problem with it being like a large cannister filter from a visibility standpoint.

    • @pecktec
      @pecktec  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s fine. I actually considered some of those things when I picked this one. But I can see what I need to just fine. The mechanical filtration could have more visibility but I’ll swap that out regularly anyway. The bio media will be the same. I’m not doing K1. There won’t be any fish or shrimp to catch as there will be only big fish. Sooo all valid concerns (and I appreciate your input) but these will do fine for me. I’m kind of glad you can’t see in the sides well it tends to look gross.
