    It’s come to my attention that I installed the bulkheads backwards. Not sure why the more finished looking side would be on the inside. From what I can tell it’s working all the same. I had no leaks at all. I’ll never get the thing out but I can unscrew the back and put a second gasket on the inside as a precaution.

      maybe algae might grow on the threads and nut and if you have fish or plants the nut and pipe with threads will not but ptotruding towards the fish.

      Bulkheads are designed more for use in the display tank. So the cleaner looking side was designed to be on the inside, keeps the display looking better. If the bulkhead wasn’t hidden that is.
      And for functionality, it’s better to have the molded flange on the inside with the water pressure pushing it into the seal. Versus being on the outside and relying on the nut pulling it into the seal. Lessens the chance of leaks.

    Sean, if you want to set it up all at once what about getting a 500 gallon, doing it with that! If you need more room you could always put on a addition on your house! You know like any good addicted fish keeper does! I know what would the wife say, that’s why they make divorce courts! Just think a big house with big tanks,all by yourself! Well your daughter could stay if she wanted to. anyway just a thought 😉 lol! I did want to add that I really appreciate the video on that unit, I thought about getting one of those myself, wasn’t really sure how they work. It looks like it’s really functional, and I really like the fact that you can customize it to your needs. Especially for bigger tanks, all you would have to do is purchase additional units as opposed to a whole new system. Really appreciate your videos thanks again for all you do for the hobby!

    Awesome looking tank. The Seamless Sump is great for the material it is made from and its modular design. One thing I have never understood is why the pump is not in the last tub. If you do not desire a low flow area putting the pump in the last tub would remove the need for the recirculators.

      It’s just a spot set aside to move a fish to or hold one separate from the others. I had some elaborate plans that I never really moved on. I’ll be doing an update soon.

    To silence the noise the water makes falling into the sump , you need to extend the pvc piece so that is is below the water level of the sump , meaning the pvc ends must be underwater instead of above the water , making it splashes and creating the noise .

    Your bulkheads are on backwards. The threads and nut should be outside the sump, with the gasket on the inside.

    Is the noise from the first chamber only as that's where water trickles down?

    • @pecktec
      @pecktec  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s half that and half the pump.

    • @ericlind6581
      @ericlind6581 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      pecktec So this sump is just naturally louder than say a glass aquarium. I guess water hitting plastic would be louder. But if you designed it so that nothing “trickles”, does this sump have some weird echo effect?

    hiiii! (sorry this doesnt apply to this vdieo)
    two quick questions if thats ok
    : can i cycle my tank with just plants?
    are there peaceful tank mates for a betta in a heated 6,7 gallon (shrimp and snails are illegal to sell here in maine)
    bonus question: whats the safest way to acclimate.a betta from his little transport tank, which will surely cool down while i'm doin my duties (for moving his tank or doing a deep clean) into a 75 degree tank?

    • @PoeticMisfortune
      @PoeticMisfortune 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a style of cycling your tank that is called Silent Cycling where it uses only plants and then you slowly add fish after months of it running. It is really does take a long time compared to other cycling methods. The easiest way to cycle your tank is to add a piece of raw shrimp or fish into the tank and let it break down in the tank. It is a great way to cycle without adding live fish. Some people cycle with live fish but I think it is cruel to sacrifice a living fish to do it.
      Depending on the size of your tank, it will change what you can have with the betta and some bettas are just jerks and won't let anyone live with them, so you will have to test out if yours is okay with them. A lot of people have success with corydoras, some tetras like the rasboras or neons, or some of the less fancy guppies. All of those are fish that you need to keep in a small group of around 5 or more. I personally wouldn't recommend a tank smaller than 10 gallons if you are going to add tank mates in with the betta, just so they each have their own personal tank space.
      If you are talking about the little cup that they sell bettas in, it should float in your tank. You just set the cup on the surface and let it float for 20 or so minutes, so the cup water gets the same temp as the tank. If it is store water, don't add it to your tank, just scoop the fish and add him alone. If you have had the betta for a while and you were just deep cleaning the tank, you take the cup and scoop up his tank water into it and add him in. When you are done, you do the float acclimation and when it's time, you can put him and the water back in.

    • @pecktec
      @pecktec  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sort of do that. I wait to put fish in till the plants start growing. And I add the liquid bacteria as I do. I still start really slow when I do add them.

  • @dennis-qu7bs
    @dennis-qu7bs 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there any way that system could over flow?

    • @pecktec
      @pecktec  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If all the openings in the reserve tank got clogged of if I fill the tank above the max line (while running).

      I still don’t understand how you keep the sump from overflowing if the return pump quits. How do you balance the sump input with the output? I understand the benefits .
