I am back to the fish hobby after 20 years due to you channel! Love the education. I have questions on the sump, would you run the water change out of the sump or tank during a cycle and how do you ensure that the sump doesn’t flood your basement? Appreciate any feedback because I am debating HOB canister and sump.
Thanks for following along with the channel! I usually do water changes out of the tank with the pumps turned off. Some sumps (like this one from Custom Aquariums) will come with siphon stoppers which avoid flooding the sump
Interested in your updates on that Algae Scrubber. I also have a Customs Aquarium and their seamless sump. Great quality and seamless sump is so quite. Sorry to hear about your heater malfunction. Temperature controller will solve this. Inkbird has several options. I use their 306A, great peace of mind. Enjoy
Sorry for your loss that heater had a pass. The king of diy lost stingrays that way and cause smoke though out his house. Great video as always congrats in the new custom aquarium I will be looking for future updates cheers. 👍

I have a few smaller ones i got off etsy but can't find any taller real looking ones like that for my 180. I'm sick of the bright colored very obviously fake tall plants I can find locally at the big name stores!
Troy so the piece that you didnt know what it is for. My seamless sump has that on one of the return lines (inline) and has a small black hose that goes into the reservoir tube and it runs water to circulate in the reservoir you can control the flow with the little silver screw.
Hello Troy @Cichlid Bros. I have two 55 gallons. One with about 37 Glo Tetras in it and the other tank is about 25 years old so it's not in commission. I also have a 15 gallon Fluval Flex that I use as a hospital tank. I'm having a 65 gallon acrylic tank customized as we speak. I'm using that for an Mbuna tank. My question is about putting Carib Sea Sunset Gold in there. I watched you put that in your 180 gallon acrylic and I love it. In your setup video I didn't see you rinse the sand. Can you put it in without rinsing and what can I do about keeping the PH high enough in that tank for the Mbunas. And my last question, being this is my first time owning Mbunas, what do you suggest I start off with. Would like to do at least 12 to 14 to start off with. When I get this one together and get my feet wet, I plan on having my guy customize me a 90 gallon acrylic. That's where I would like to put Peacocks in. I do enjoy watching Cichlid Bros. videos. Trying to soak up as much information as possible. All information would be greatly appreciated.

Heater failures are a huge cost of livestock loss. Those neotherms lost popularity on the saltwater side a few years go because getting stock on and/or exploding.
As someone who also has a shark pro from sicce, id love a review after sone time of use from yiur channel, im adoring mine personally but im having a small deadspot in flow

Yep! It’s used a lot in saltwater setups but makes a lotta sense for African cichlid tanks as well 👍🏻

If you don't live in Florida you should travel, there and get some cichlids for free because you can catch them in the wild there.

Father fish keeps his Africans planted and so do i. Annibus works great and of all things water sprite is taking over my peacock tank.
I know it can be done, but over time they’re extremely hard on plants. Never had luck with it, especially with haps
