I like the new integrated overflow for the sock tub to the baffle tub. I have an older version and the pipe interface seemed clunky and was sometimes difficult to work around.
we are working on a promotion for our customers with the gen 1 system to upgrade to the new Sock and Baffle Tub. I am not sure when that will happen yet.
@@CustomAquariums that sounds awesome. Are they all being shipped with the new design now (website shows older renders)? I’ll have to check out the site periodically to see if it's updated. I plan to revise one of my 6 foot tanks to use the seamless sump system in the next quarter or so. I might upgrade my current 4'x4' custom aquariums tank's subsystem at the same time.
The cost of materials and production is higher than off the shelf sumps. Roto-molding is not the same as injection molding. Compared to custom-built acrylic sumps the Seamless Sump is typically less expensive, especially for larger capacity systems. Our filters are going to bee more expensive than one piece off the shelf sumps, but those do not have the advantages of the Seamless Sump.
I keep watching this thinking of my next build, but I just can't figure how this works for a reef tank. Most simple builds, mine included, want mechanical filtration then protein skimmer, then refugium, then return pump. An entire section for bio filtration is typically not needed. This seems geared more toward freshwater. I believe you are missing an important customer base as reefers spend money like drunken sailors.
Many people use the Seamless Sump for their reef tanks because the tubs are versatile and DIY-friendly. The Baffle Tub basket chambers can be repurposed for a small skimmer, more mechanical filtration or a reactor. We have the Skimmer Tub that is designed specifically for using and internal protein skimmer. There is a new generation of reef tub in development that will include all the functional aspects of a reef sump in one larger tub, but you can accomplish all the same roles with the current tubs and have the flexibility of the modular design. The HDPE material is also a lot easier to drill for pluming external pumps, reactors and skimmers.
The Skimmer Tub is available (www.customaquariums.com/1s3s-seamless-sump-package.html) . We have another larger system that is not modular that is being tested, but it will have all the features of a skimmer tub linked with a tub for pump chamber and a tub for reservoir/refugium/reactors. Modular is always going to be more versatile. You can link the tubs with features that you want fit spaces.

Yes, they are being shipped. Have been for a few months, actually. We are undergoing a total website rebuild which is taking longer than expected.
This system will be my next sump!! Nicely done custom aquariums!!
Love the idea but why soo much money for a a plastic tub 😔

@@CustomAquariums Thank you for the reply. I am looking forward seeing the new gen reef tub.
When is the sump geared toward reef systems due out?
