Congratulations on finding them!! I am now 36 and my dad introduced me to the Beatles as a small girl, I quickly became obsessed and have never stopped loving them. Highly recommend a book called “the Beatles: the music was never the same” it’s wonderful and will give you some insight on who they are/were. Enjoy the multitudes of media they’ve given us, including the movies!
@astrodrew I fell in love as a teenager watching them on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. The country was still pretty depressed from JFK's assassination, and "the British invasion" started by the Beatles was so needed. You should check out a lot more bands from that era. Loads of fabulous music! IMO can't beat the Boomers' music. 😉
My wife and I play our year and a half old son three songs for bedtime. The final song is “Goodnight” off The White Album. Thank you, Ringo, for crooning our baby boy to sleep every night!
I saw Ringo in concert in 2018, in a very very small venue with only a couple hundred people, because of this my brother and I while pointing at ringo from the audience, Ringo actually POINTED BACK at us, he literally made our lives, it might sound a little extreme but that’s a once and a lifetime occurrence
I’ve always loved Ringo. He’s a hell of a drummer and a lovely human! And look at him at 81, doing shows, dropping new music!! He’s amazing! God bless him!
Can you just imagine... interviewing a legend? Being in the same room, talking to one of the greats that started a new age of music? I'm not personally a fan of the Beatles, but I know that their music is timeless, and has inspired literally thousands of artists to be who they are now. Now that's an incredible experience.
Truly a living legend! I had the good fortune to meet Paul, many years ago, in a one-on-one situation. (He was staying at a hotel, which I worked at, at the time.) He was absolutely lovely... could not have been more kind and genuine. ❤
You should really try to listen to their music. Its like Picasso, not all are brilliant But so many of them are . they r way more complex then a lot of music today ...u should hear the interview of Paul McCartney and Rick Rubin, it gives u a better understanding
When I was younger I used to think Ringo was a bit aloof, perhaps a little naive or indeed perhaps even arrogant. After watching Ron Howard's "Eight Days A Week" and Peter Jackson's "Get Back" documentaries it's very clear to me that isn't the case. Ringo Starr is a man who is very self aware, knows exactly who he is and his place in the world. He knew exactly what his role was in The Beatles, and knew exactly who he was thereafter. He's insanely talented, bright, and seriously funny/quick witted.
See I always took him as the member who kind of held them together?? He is friends with them all and is there for support no matter what...and after watching "get back" it seems this is certain...he is so patient while they figure it all out and the way he talks to those around shows how he seem to want to do the best? Idk just my interpretation....I liked how when one said they were preparing for last tv appearance and ringo was very quick to be like let's not assume that! He seemed to be what they needed!
Ringo always wanted peace, he wanted to be loved and included in the group. By the end Paul/George and Paul/John just weren’t getting along. Ringo loved them all and still does. I feel bad for him :(
I took up the drums in third grade because of Ringo. By six grade I had begged my mother to buy me the exact set that Ringo had, and so I had that. I began to study drums and my whole world was the Beatles. I always thought he was the greatest drummer of the era, because he didn’t just play tons of fills, he provided the perfect backdrop for the music. With the immense presence of John and Paul, there would be no space for a drummer like Keith moon, great as he was, in the Beatles. For years and years Ringo had been maligned is not a good drummer, but he is now recognized as I always knew, that he always was an amazing percussionist. His genius was not sticking out, but playing the perfect part for every single Beatles song. He’s also one of the greatest humans on earth, and has always had a gentle loving personality. May he live to 110, a living reminder of the greatest period of music of our time.
He handles being on camera so well. Even doing very little he's interesting. This is truly a guy who's spent his whole life performing and the skill is actually really impressive.
God bless Ringo and Paul. May they live and play to a 120! I watched the new Get Back doc totally fascinated. What a refined and pure talent they all had. The footage was so perfectly enhanced, it was like it was filmed yesterday. They were just kids, the oldest one was 29, and the level of sophistication in their songwriting, their creative method was breathtaking, beyond their years. My wife and I were transfixed, three nights, just totally immersed in The Beatles. Heaven.
I think ''sophistication'' is the wrong word. They weren't sophisticated nor trying to be. That's what people who listen to them like to think of themselves as. The Beatles were ambitious, talented, and the music was the result of various factors: competition between John and Paul, exceptional language skills, down to earthness, intelligence, tapping into something beyond logic, all combined to create genius.
The film enhancement was really incredible. A lot of times you see stuff labelled “remastered” but this was ridiculously good. I always think of the 60’s as a dreamy far off place, where girls wore flowers 🌺, and men wore leather vests with nothing underneath. And drugs of course, loads of drugs. But Peter Jackson’s movie made the 60’s feel very real. Like you were with the band. Like watching a modern day documentary on eg Metallica or Wilco. An exceptional piece of work and amazing to get such a document of Let it Be, some 50 years later. The Beatles are truly timeless and can be held up there with Beethoven, DeBussy, Mozart, Tchaikovsky etc
In a lifetime of Beatles, the thing that i always loved the most about Ringo (post Fab4) is his insistence that he had a wonderful time being one. We sure had a blast growing up with them.
"They've got nowhere else to go, they've got to like, backtrack". That describes so perfectly the music scene today. Ringo has a way of getting to the truth!
Rings is one of the people who can do whatever he feels like on any given day. He also looks fantastic for 81. Of course, a good dye job works wonders….
@@umair111 And he also wears clothes that make him look younger. Subtle details can make a huge change 🙈. But for a reason, they say: "80 is the new 60". What people 40 years ago were physically at the age of 60, they are now at the age of 80.
WOW Ringo looks GREAT, he's a living legend. I've listen to the Beatles since the 1960s. My Aunties saw them many times when they performed in the local pubs in the early 60s. I love the Beatles. They are all such outstanding gentlemen. I inherited my dad's record collection and I have all of their albums. I can't wait to see Peter Jackson's documentary about them.
So awesome that him and Paul are still alive. I wonder how it feels to be part of a generation so long ago, that shook the world, and 60 some years later, your music is still popular. And also how many genres of music have come after them.. and here we are.. Hard to believe he is 81.. he looks great for 81.
Love Ringo! Saw a live show with the All-Star band years ago. Fun! Standing O’s every song and Yellow Submarine brought down the house. Beatles are timeless.
The guy is a joy. Always has been. That's probably why he got the gig in the first place. His grooves on the early Ed Sullivan shows were so relaxed and cool, even when the whole world was watching. One of kind, peace and love.
I play the Beatles for my own children and it really is cool how every generation can listen and love them. There’s something for everyone! That’s what’s great about the Beatles-they evolved with us all, and meet us where we are at a specific time in life.
The Beatles were brilliant. With timeless music that appeals to people of all ages and lyrics that are still relevant today. Such a gift to be able to listen to their music! ❤️
Peace and love, Ringo! Ringo listens to others and who talks when he has something worthwhile to contribute. Everybody who watches "Let It Be" hears Linda McCartney (RIP) confide that she feels so relaxed around Ringo nods in agreement. He is the antithesis of the drummer of drummer jokes, who does not understand harmony and who hits things by default. His drumming is so tasteful and interesting, and now we can see how he delivers wonderful improvisation on every evolution of the "Let It Be" songs. What a great drummer and musician!
All the jealousy here re: Ringo's look at age 81...don't care that he colors his hair/beard, wears the shades...who cares. Millions of people don't even LIVE to be 81, let alone look and act like they're 40ish. Keep on keepin' on, Mr. Starkey. You're a legend in ALL our minds!
I agree. The volume and range of the Beatles is epic. Ringo is so affable. I think what made the group so popular had so much to do with music, but also with personality. Each musician had an individual voice. I love all of them. Despite the fact that there were many fabulous groups, during their era, there will never be a group like them. Go Ringo!
He will be 82 next July. If he keeps it up, he may join William Shatner, Barbara Eden, and Betty White as the youngest looking famous elders of our time.
My Covid experience brought me back to my childhood and I’ve rediscovered The Beatles. Saw Paul live in 2013 and it was amazing. I’m really in to the solo work too. It’s keeping me sane with all the craziness going on now. Thank you Beatles. Can’t wait for Let It Be.

I was eight y.o. in 1963 when the Beatles’ music started to be played on the radio in the US. My friends and I went crazy for them. We were already old enough to be listening to rock music by then, and even at that age, we played them on the jukebox at the local pizza place. So yeah, little kids love the Beatles!

It’s just so enjoyable just to hear Ringo’s voice. I was 12 y/o when the Beatles hit and they easily became my favorite band. We kids went berserk with them. I’m 70 now and I’m not ashamed to admit the love affair lives on. ♥️

@astrodrew I fell in love as a teenager watching them on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. The country was still pretty depressed from JFK's assassination, and "the British invasion" started by the Beatles was so needed. You should check out a lot more bands from that era. Ringo, Paul, George and John what a true gift for the world.

Yeah, interviewing Ringo Starr is like interviewing Picasso, Beethoven or Shakespeare.

AND The Beatles were inspired by the BEST genre - Soul and R&B
Ringo is a living legend. Great to let Ringo just talk. Good interview Jimmy.
@@jevvie7915 This is how I see him now as well.

Ringo always wanted peace, he wanted to be loved and included in the group. By the end Paul/George and Paul/John just weren’t getting along. Ringo loved them all and still does. I feel bad for him :(
@@thesilvershining they all were composers and had increasing ego/drug issues, but he wanted to stay out of the fire
Didn't think Ringo was into interviews like these any longer. Great to see him! How did he stop aging at 50!?! I miss George.
Ringo! A living Legend.
I loved the documentary too! My dad passed away on Sep 2020. He would have been glued to the Tv watching, he loved them! I grew up listening to them!
I listened to my first Beatles song in 1986 when I was six years old, growing up in Saudi Arabia. The Beatles remain my favorite band.
