SIR Patrick tells stories just like my Grandpa. Once he gets started, there are stories within stories within stories. Sometimes, by the time, we'd gotten to the end of the original, it was hours later, but we were completely entertained the entire time. :-)

The Tower bar doesn't need good press. It's famous for its pool parties, cocktails, and fine dining. Impossible to get a table at peak times unless you're uber wealthy, famous, or both. Great to visit during quiet periods and hangout at the pool, though cocktails start around $30 for something basic, also you can't take photos in the public areas!

@@sarfaraz.hosseini I looked on their website out of interest as it sounds pretty cool. Cocktails actually range from $18 to $24, pretty reasonable. I also looked for a table tomorrow evening and there were a bunch of tables available at peak times.

“A while ago I met other famous people at a restaurant.” You know the phrase ‘I could listen to him reading the phone book’? That’s pretty much it.
Graham Norton Show is such a great talk show. Where the guests CAN ACTUALLY TALK.
It's the format. Rather than getting five-minutes-max to plug whatever they need to plug, they sit there for forty-five-minutes-or-so just seeing where the conversation takes them. If one or two guests aren't talkative, the others pick-up the slack.
And the drinks help.
I just want to say as an American that Graham Norton is a jewel. His show is amazing and if you want to know how to interview people he is the template.
I love how everyone is investing in Sir Patrick's story; including Sir Pat himself. This is pure gold.

it's absolutely impossible to dislike Patrick Stuart. Also his friendship with Ian McKellan (probably wrong spelling) is about the most heart touching and hopeful things I have ever experienced...through TV of course.

While I remember Stewart in Excalibur, I remember being struck most of all by Nicol Williamson's performance as Merlin (he had that amazing voice - and even Stewart admitted watching him the entire time during filming - and using him as inspiration when he played Merlin during last year's bomb The Kid Who Would Be King. I also had the hots for Helen Mirren (who was Morgana) and the stunning Cherie Lunghi as Guinevere

No, that's wrong. The Queen has no say in who receives an honour - it's entirely up to the government and nominations (with very limited exceptions).
Piers, thanks. According to bbc.com, the queen does not choose who’s on the list (various committees do), but she is presented with the list for final approval.
@@rex-racer The 'final approval' part is complicated and more of a formality. If HM decided to say 'no', there would likely be a serious constitutional crisis. It's similar with HM discussing matters with the PM of the day on a weekly basis - it's tradition and the power is technically there, but using it is an entirely different matter.
