  • Pencils have been around for a long time. But do they work and can you erase the marks from quilting? What else can you use them for:)
    Grey Pencil, Eraser, Blue Pencil
White Pencil and Black Template marker are available at your local shops and you can find them here

Laura - I follow you and am grateful for your teaching. Your quilts are lovely and so are you.

Thank you Laura. Information that I have forgotten, but once used daily when garment sewing. Probably a lot of viewers smacking their foreheads after this video. Those of us who learned to sew while still in school would have used these notions. 😊

Thanks for the refresher on marking, I never thought of using the roller or lint brush for the eraser shavings 🎉

I think I might try the fabric eraser for getting make up off of my daughter's white dress! Thank you!

Great idea using the eraser on the cutting mat, I hadn’t thought of that. Thank you ❤

The eraser is wonderful for cleaning the cutting mat. And I found that if I still have grooves in my mat after using the eraser and cleaning the fuzzies out, I use an extra fine nail buffer to smooth out the groves. It works excellent. 🥰

The pencil and eraser are very nice. I have used them to mark darts for years. No tracing paper residue!

Such a very helpful tip Laura. I have some very old pencils that look identical to the ones you have. I’m going to have to get the fabric eraser and sharpen them and give it a try. I really appreciate you showing the difference between that soft pencil and the pencils that are meant to be on fabric. Thanks so much

Very good points especially the use of the eraser & The roller. Thanks. Also, I use a Teflon scrubber - from the dollar store- to remove fluff etc ( especially after cutting batting) from my cutting mat. The scrubber works terrifically to remove thread and pet hair from quilts, bedding, furniture & even car seats! BTW, where is your pop socket on the ruler from?

I am a new quilter and saw someone on TH-cam use a pencil and eraser about a year ago. I tried it and it worked, but I didn’t know there was a special eraser.

A DIY Spray Solution for Pencil Mark Remover:
3 parts rubbing alcohol to 1 part water & a generous squirt of "clear"dish soap.
