    I own the double bladed partial serration one pictured in the video. I originally bought it as a "throw away"/ use it till it brakes type deal;..... that was a bit over 5 years ago. I am a fleet manager/diesel and small engine mechanic, this knife is my every day carry knife. I have used it to cut: heater hose, fuel line hose, radiator hose, plastic and occasionally bad electrical (copper wound) wiring, on a few occasions it has been used as a chisel of sorts removing heavy rust flakes off frames of trucks (live in new England where this is common) however I never use it for prying and as a "chisel" never struck it like a chisel. At any rate, it was about 1 year before I had to sharpen it, it holds an edge well, and 5 years later still functions as intended... however, like all knives of this style, it has to be kept clean internally, and the mechanism inside requires oiling every now and then. On the down side I will say that after roughly 2 1/2 to 3 years the safety switch got loose and sloppy and will slide between off and on with gravity of it's own accord, also the red dot on the safety switch indicating it is in "firing" position has long since worn off, however the pocket clip on it is on the rear of the knife, I generally keep it in my left rear pocket, the safety switch has to be pulled towards the back of the knife to unlock it, so in it's "upside down" in pocket position gravity keeps the safety engaged, it has never in 5+ years opened in my pocket. At any rate, I bumped into this review and felt compelled to share my view of this knife, this knife is not all that expensive, and I have been pleasantly surprised by this knifes performance over the years. It is like I said my daily carry and now years later my favorite knife.

    Great looking knives!! Like that the lock holds up when blade is under pressure being used to stab something when most have a spring release inside and blade slides back in the handle. I'll be getting the tattoo blade first but want all four of them!!

    these are great knives for sure especially considering the price. ive had mine for 5 years and its still running strong. one thing i will say though is it does occasionally need a little cleaning on the internals of the knife. all of the pocket lint and dirt etc builds up on the metal where the blade rides and i have had it fail to fully eject and lock when enough of it gets in there. super easy to unscrew open and clean though.

    My dagger version did fail. I could literally push the blade back in the handle by pinching the blade between my fingers. Took the knife apart and bent the stop bar so that it fell behind the blade. Works great now. They are a lot of fun and easy to tinker with. But they are "light" edc use knives IMHO.

    Technically legal or not, if your frisked and a cop finds it, he will arrest you and let the judge and the lawyer deal with it. My luck would be that I would get arrested late at night after the judge goes home on a Friday and I'll be in jail all weekend with the skells until Monday. :) It's a cool design and I would like one, but I would never carry it. It would just go in the collection bin.

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      SerHaHa They all begin with "SCHOTF" try that. As far as I know, even assisted knives are restricted upon in Canada.

    • @Teachering
      @Teachering 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      WeAllJuggleKnives I'm fairly certain that restrictions differ from Province to Province in Canada. Depending on where a person resides in Canada, it is his responsibility to know the law. Since the Schrade OTF is assisted, it is legal to own in the Province of Ontario where I live. Our laws in Ontaro regarding knives are very fair.

    • @Gman-109
      @Gman-109 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Knife laws are federal, and any knives that are banned are done so in the federal criminal code, and have nothing to do with provincial regulations.

    • @Teachering
      @Teachering 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      SerHaHa Thank you for the information, SerHaHa. Indeed I was under the impression that knives fall under Provincial jurisdiction. Nevertheless, I did do some rooting around after reading your earlier question about legality (by the way, I vaguely recall seeing some reference to federal regulation but thought it more likely to be a Provincial matter) regarding assisted knives and feel certain that they are not prohibited. The difficulty, suggested by some regarding legality, has not so much to do with the law as it does policing. If a police officer chooses to confiscate a knife, he will. Personally, as a Canadian and desiring to purchase the Schrade OTF, I would have no concern at all. I'm sure that ordering it and receiving it in the mail would raise no concern.

    • @Gman-109
      @Gman-109 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Teachering Ya, the reason I asked initially as I know side opening assisted are legal, but many companies in the USA won't export them as border services is often ignorant of the law and policy that the law enforcement has regarding assisted knives, and seizes them, causing a lot of commercial problems regarding chargebacks and such. OTF types I think will certainly be seized, but often companies that deal with knives often have a relationshipt with CBSA and make arrangements to get them in - some of the "4" variant Vipers from Schrade for example are available on amazon.ca from a company in your area in Ontario. I just figured maybe the channel operator would have heard something from the legal department when he spoke with them, or at least hoped. I've contacted Schrade and their parent company to see, I'll post any info I get here.

    Is it legal to carry one of these blades in Minnesota?

    • @dakotajacobson4250
      @dakotajacobson4250 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a fellow Minnesota resident. I had this knife. It's a single action otf. So it's legal, and considered a "assisted opening knife" I have a few double action otf knives. But double action otf knives are considered a "auto" or "switchblade" I still carry my double action otf knives. Sure it's kind of risky to carry, and definitely illegal. But I mainly use my autos at home, or at work. I guess what I'm saying, if you are going to carry any switchblade. Common sense, situational awareness, and don't be stupid and use the knife in a way that would draw attention to yourself. So far I've have no problems carrying a auto in MN. But then again, I live in Northwestern MN. (Red River Area) So besides my town, the next 40 to 50 miles are pretty rural and mostly farming communities.

    The old ones you had to push the charge lever so you touching the blade and that's how they got away with it. With the change on this model it doesn't look like you touch the blade at all and only use the button, so I'm curious on their legalise on how this model is legal.

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nic S Good question bro, I will paste what Schrade told me" "We own a patent on this mechanism so you will not find an OTF assisted opening anywhere else like it on the market. While it might look like this pattern operates like an auto it is 100% an assisted opening and legal to carry everywhere assisted openings are legal to carry. Automatics have a bias towards opening while assisted openings have a bias towards closure and must be manually “assisted” along the way to engage the spring opening mechanism."

    • @ntstick06
      @ntstick06 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      WeAllJuggleKnives thanks man, I'm not trying to be a smart ass I'd just want to be sure before I carried one, I don't think OTF autos are legal where I live.

    • @binge8165
      @binge8165 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      WeAllJuggleKnives Except with some states, like PA, an automatic is defined by what opens the blade. This is what PA law says about autos "the blade of which is exposed in an automatic way by switch, push-button, spring mechanism, or otherwise"

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Binge Yeah but it has to be automatic at the push of a button. With these, the spring does not engage until you have manually pushed blade up a certain distance, just like any assisted knife.

    I owned a viper v3. Quicker, easier, safer, and more legal to carry a balisong. Balisongs are not autos, or gravity knives(illegal in michigan). BALISONG

    Stabby is what wins knife fights. I recommend 5+ inches or MORE. People are fatter.....

    Ahhhh. A pair of gloves bro. You’re not gonna have them,in a self defense incident...but, maybe, when stabbing a log 20 times...mine comes in on Monday, from amazon...👍👍...
    The knife, not......gloves....

      That's true, but you would have adrenalin to make up for it, unless you're Hannibal, then you would feel nothing, nothing but cold detachment (a joke ...)

      Heard......I ordered a viper 3, and I thought it was this knife, but it isn’t. The actuator is on the side, toward the bottom of the knife, it’s really awkward. Unless, you open it with a backward grip, and it has a production date of 08/18. So it’s not old, maybe just a less expensive version of that Schrade....little bummed....

      TheIrcbully I thought the same. How does Schrade expect people to explain it's not an auto to a cop? "Schrade's legal department says it's not an auto, so it's not an auto. Let me go, brah"

      @WeAllJuggleKnives  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheIrcbully They probably will not know how to operate it, just keep the safety on. Without a blade exposed, this thing is just a car crash rescue tool.

    Yeah I almost got arrested for having one, police consider this an auto.

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives

      I'm sure no police would be happy to find one of these on anyone, even if it was technically legal in their state.

      I can give it to you a lot harder if you ask nicely. Although, I am unsure if we are still talking about knives. I was in poor shape back then, I have gotten quite a bit stronger lately, as I have documented on my Health and Fitness Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLYRgjW5aW1hAp0xuNwICYM_bgK2HZ3nZy.html

    • @sailure1
      @sailure1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      wrong... while in NY you maybe correct since all knives carried for the purpose of a weapon, defensive or offensive is illegal, in California these are legal if its a single sided blade (assisted ) opening for carry and even 100% auto opening is legal for ownership just not carried. To transport an auto opening knife it must be in the locked compartment of a car..ie the trunk.

      The only Cali law that says anything about blade length is when carry a switchblade or gravity knife. You can carry a blade of any length as long as it's not a switch/bali. Bali's can be collected and kept at home, though.
