  • Zykos are a pretty hyped frankenstein tactile switch, but with their high price tag, they're not accessible for many in the hobby. To combat this, CannonKeys has released their Neapolitan Ice Cream switch, which have a tactile profile similar to Zykos. These switches are made by Tecsee and feature a pink polycarbonate top, brown POM stem, two-staged 63.5g spring, and milky white, 5-pin bottoms (with the bottom housing mold being owned by CannonKeys). They don't feel exactly like Zykos, but for less than half the price, these will get you most of the way there.

      I haven't got these switches but i did get glorious pandas which are bad with leaf pings, but I lubed the back of the leaf and there's no more ping.
      You might try that with neapolitans and maybe post the results?

    Did you try the tecsee coffee chip ice cream? That one is my current favorite. It thocks and not fatiguing.

  • @katarixy
    @katarixy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree with the fatiguing part. It’s the reason why I’m not a huge fan of the sharp tactile bump on zealios

      @zeonic_keys6375 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      spring swapping down to 56g really helps. I've swapped to that weight on all of my heavier tactiles and they usually work great and are far less fatiguing.

    Tescee's tactile and linear switches on aliexpress that are 25$ for 70 all have elongated poles and all feel really good. I got a sample pack of the orange linears, a full pack of the purple tactiles, and their glittery lower spring weight tactile and linear (blue or red, respectively), and they are all strong contenders for best budget switches in their class. This switch particularly may be nothing more than a more expensive recolor of their budget switches on ali, but let me know if I am mistaken in that assumption!

    • @jimmynguyen973
      @jimmynguyen973  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, I've tried the purple pandas and carrot lienars and they're great. They were at $35 for a bit and that was a bummer, but looks like the price went back down again! This switch is different from the other Tecsee switches because the bottom housing mold is owned by CannonKeys, so theoretically these should be the only one of its kind. The housing is also polycarbonate instead of PME like the purple and orange switches

    • @zeonic_keys6375
      @zeonic_keys6375 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimmynguyen973 Thanks for the reply dude! PME seems hardly different from most other basic materials I've come across, although I've yet to actually use a full PC switch and can imagine that would have a very cool sound profile.

    I just want a 1 switch Zykos alternative because I'm too lazy to build them lol, I've tried them and they're my favorite but I'm not spending days building them, sorting out the bad ones, and building some more until I get a perfect set for my keyboard lol. I'm probably just gonna pay someone to make them for me and call it a day

    Hi just wanted to ask if u would still recommend the womier k61 now

    • @jimmynguyen973
      @jimmynguyen973  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, I find it to be a nice minimal looking keyboard with the RGB turn off due to the frosted case and white keycaps, but it can also put on a show with RGB on. If you want a more value-oriented keyboard, I haven't tried the LTC NB681 but it looks pretty solid for the price (and it's on sale during Prime Day).

    • @jimmynguyen973
      @jimmynguyen973  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkeetInTheEar I would consider Kiwis and T1s to be basically the same for this kind of comparison. T1s were my first tactile switch and I've used them for over a year. I find them to be a "boring" switch, it could be because I've used them for long, but after trying out more tactile switches, I found the Holy Panda / Zykos feeling to be more interesting. The T1s have a bit of a sharper feeling vs the Holy Panda, which is why I prefer Holy Pandas over them, and the stronger tactility from the Zykos/Neapolitans makes them more interesting to me
