In this episode we're covering the AK-47.
It's an automatic weapon, unlocked at level 38.
The AK-47, or Avtomat Kalashnikova, is a weapon that originates from the former Soviet Union.
As its designation implies, its design was finalised in the year 1947.
It was World War 2 that spurred small arms development in the 1940s, and the introduction of the first assault rifle - the German Sturmgewehr 44 - forged a new niche between rifle and submachine gun.
Mikhail Kalashnikov, then a tank driver and mechanic in the Red Army, would come up with the now-infamous AK assault rifle design while recuperating in hospital after being wounded during the Battle of Bryansk.
His combat experience led to his rifle design being extremely soldier-focussed: rugged, as lightweight as possible and simple to use and maintain.
In 1949, Kalashnikov's Avtomat was officially adopted by the Red Army - its simple design ideal for mass production, an important consideration for any large-scale military force.
The design was further improved in the later AKM design - with a stamped receiver rather than a milled one, improved muzzle brake and other small mechanical improvements, what most people regard as an AK-47 is, in fact the AKM design.
With approximately 75 million such rifles manufactured, no other rifle is as ubiquitous, nor as recognisable: and the AK is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
Even today, the AK serves as the basis for many modern military rifles - albeit in a derivative form.
The AK-74 is a notable iteration, designed to fire a smaller, higher-velocity round, with improved terminal ballistics.
The AK-100 series, and the new AK-12, are the most modern variants - making use of modern manufacturing techniques, but with a solid grounding in Kalashnikov's original design.
The AK fires the M43 cartridge - first used in the RPD light machine gun, 7.62-by-39 millimetres in dimension.
Magazines are of a distinctive curved box type, the curvature a result of the slightly tapered cartridge.
Capacity is 30 rounds by default, or 45 with extended mags.
Damage is moderate - high by an automatic weapon's standards, but lower than the semi-automatic assault rifles.
You'll kill in 3 shots up close, like the FAMAS and AUG - but, thanks to the elevated damage your 3-hit kill zone will be larger, and you'll potentially kill in just two headshots.
At long range, you may need up to 4 shots to kill.
Rate of fire is moderately slow - at 750 rounds per minute.
Because of this lower fire rate, however, the weapon is relatively controllable when firing full-auto - and will remain effective out to some distance.
At extreme ranges you'll want to burst fire, of course - distant targets, especially those behind cover, will require trigger control to be effectively tackled.
Aim time is standard for the assault rifle category, at 250 milliseconds - and reloads are moderately quick, at 2.5 seconds.
The AK-47 is a versatile weapon, boasting consistent damage and generally good handling characteristics.
Its lower rate of fire means it's ideally suited to automatic use, with controllable recoil and an ability to eke out sustained firepower from its 30-round magazine.
Of course, this slower rate of fire will impact your close-range performance: fewer bullets dispensed means a longer time to kill, and will make hipfire kills less reliable, should a close-range enemy be aware of your presence.
Still, this is the price of versatility: whilst the AK might shine at middle range, it loses out to SMGs and the faster-firing assault rifles up close.
Keep your wits about you, however, and any disparity in performance won't be apparent: don't give your enemy a fair fight, and you'll emerge victorious.

An older ak47 is incapable of being suppressed due to the threads on the barrel not being concentric to the bore. This simply means that the threads are often not square with the rest of the barrel, and this could result in the bullet skipping along the baffles in the suppressor, damaging it in the process.
On the contrary. You can see silenced AKM's and later AK-63D's even on the internet.

Yes AKMs (most of them) are bored and rifled to function correctly with supressors. The original military issued AK47s were not even threaded.
Not only can a barrel be threaded later or the suppressor attached by some other means, but that is actually the AKM which is often referred to as just the AK47 bit like how M16A4 is often just called M16. You can tell it's the AKM (stamped receiver) from the short divot in the side of the receiver next to the magazine rather than the long deep divot characteristic of the AK47's original milled receiver.
So is the variant in game a AKM?
The variant in game is a mix of many AKs, mainly AK-74 and WASR-2. The magazine and the suppressor resembles AK-74 mag and muzzle brake respectively.

You should replace the Python with the Makarov, since the Python is American while the Makarov is Soviet.
Jammer is a terrible perk. I've never been surprised by an enemy using it and every time I do notice a jammer, I just search him out and kill him. It works less like a counter UAV and more like a game of hot and cold to find the jammer.

The AK always was my favorite in Black Ops. I used Dual Mags as the iron sights never bothered me and I always had good effect on target. It's the gun that has the best stats on my playercard right now.

I unlocked this weapons Last night and I played a few games and my 1st one was 21-1 which was amazing. The accuracy is On point, I have suppressor and Extend mag.

New subscriber. I just started playing BO 1 so I wanted some tips on the weapons. Stumbled accross these ... and I LOVE THEM. Too overpowered really. I am hoping they get rid of all this futuristic nonsense, I guess it's fine in single-player, where it has a place, but in Multiplayer the COD spirit is alive. That spirit grew with pretty much any COD pre-BO2.

FalconsPOWN2 they've used the same type of guns in other cods and people are getting into bad spawns. AW was a futuristic cod but even without the futuristic things it was still the best cod. Such as when they created weapon variants and different "armor" like destiny and it kept people interested and thirsty for the rare items. AW did a very good job on creating good spawns and even if you are spawned trapped you could jump out of it , kill the person and run or dash away from it. Futuristic cod is what cod needs to survive or keep people on their toes.
Man it’s been so fun to watch these again, and it’s actually helpful since plutonium recently added a Black Ops 1 to their launcher, so there are live servers without cheaters (for the most part) for this game again

honestly I love the bo1 ak47 iron sights, literally everything about it, mw2 ak is a fantastic weapon as well, but the bo1 ak 47 is one of my favorites ak 47's in call of duty history

I love the series, it helps me become aware of all of the different pro's and con's of the weapons. I was wondering if you could do a short section in each vid on what you would prefer for search and destroy? My friends and I only play that now on black ops, and I was wondering what kind of classes you would suggest for that game type.
Every time I play Black Ops, I always play against people that camp with the Famas with Ghost and Gaymores. But when you play, you make it look like you're the greatest Black Ops player ever. Keep up the amazing work, Stu.

The released footage showed an AN-94, it's not a direct AK rifle but it's one of the current replacements to the AK-74M and the operation is pretty similar so it'll probably end up taking on the same role.

In fact, the very first version of the gun was the AK-46 prototype which has been presented to a jury, but refused due to some construction flaws (it was very different from the later 47 version). Kalashnikov had to improve his model, and he came back one year later with the actual AK-47.

If I can remember correctly, this AK was actually an American variant called the WASR-7. It fired a 5.45 or something like that.
No it's not. The WASR is semi automatic, this is clearly fully automatic.

Yes, the RC-XD is a military grade Remote Controlled vehicle. The hydraulics allow it to move through almost any terrain very fast, and with no flip-overs.

Surely adding mass above the barrel should lessen recoil - like the sights, because the closer the COM is to the firing bullet the less torque is produced in exchange for more backward force, although adding mass reduces the acceleration.
i like how the ak was the first A.rifle to unlock in the first mw. the best gun unloked at lvl 4.
For some reason he makes me want to use weapons which I'm normally not good with, not to mention he makes me want to play a game which I haven't played for months.
Thank you for being a nicer person and not calling me anything right from the start but my grandfather has guns and one of them is a Ak 47 and he was showing me the guns ( which he does keep clean ) and when he fired the gun about mid way through one of his mags it jammed it could of been an older model that could be why other than that there would be no reason for it to jam

Fun fact, it's more of a WASR-2 than an AK-47. Given how you play as a Black Ops operative in the campaign, the AK you get is an American made experimental variant (WASR-2).
The problem is the Vietcong in the campaign use it, and that really doesn't make any sense as they were using Chinese rip-off Type-56's and Russian AKM's.
I seen that video from FrostThreat48's video of Black Ops. It's not AK-47 it's WASR-2.
