In this episode, we're covering the second SMG - the Skorpion.
It's a fully automatic weapon, and is unlocked at level 7.
It's a Czechoslovak weapon, manufactured by Česká Zbrojovka (cheska zbroy-of-ka) in what is now the Czech Republic.
It was first prototyped in 1959, and was formally adopted into service in 1961.
The 'Samo-pal vzorr(a) šedesát jedna (shedestat yidna)', or 'submachine gun model 61' is a compact weapon designed for tank crews and special forces, normally known by its less-formal name, the 'Skorpion'.
It can be fired either from the shoulder with the folding wire stock, or like a pistol with just one hand. Chambered for a smaller calibre, it's controllable even with fully automatic fire and can be easily suppressed for covert use.
Magazine capacity is a little short, as might be expected for a compact weapon - 20 rounds by default, although extended mags takes this to a more healthy 30.
The Skorpion fires the anemic .32 ACP round - not exactly the most powerful cartridge but certainly gets the job done at close range.
In-game damage reflects the typical effective distance of this calibre, with the Skorpion having the shortest range of all the SMGs.
However, within this effective radius the Skorpion is very effective - capable of two hit kills to the body up close, something no other SMG can do.
The damage drops very quickly, though - almost immediately dropping to a five-hit kill outside of close range engagements.
The fire rate is on the slower side for its class - 750 rounds per minute, although this at least makes the short magazine last a little longer.
Aside from the massive damage at point-blank range, the Skorpion has another key benefit - it boasts the lowest recoil in the SMG category.
This means that if you start on target, you'll stay on target - allowing you to tackle enemies at surprising distances, even if you do need quite a few shots to kill.
Aim time is fast, as you'd expect for an SMG - 200 milliseconds puts it on par with the rest of its class.
The reloads are frequent but aren't too painful - it's not the fastest but it's manageable, at just a little over two seconds.
The Skorpion makes for a great 'Marksman SMG' class, with the ability to deal death at all ranges.
The massive damage up-close means you don't need to worry about moving near the enemy, and as such can work very well in tandem with your tactical grenades to clear out defending enemies.
There's not much else that will kill as quickly up close.
The low recoil means you aren't limited to close range, either - if you dislodge an enemy from a good vantage point you can use it to your advantage to strike the defender's teammates from where they least expect.
The element of surprise is useful at middle range, as otherwise you'll find the low damage of the Skorpion will be your downfall in the face of more powerful weapons.
In such cases, all you can do is use the SMG's superior maneouverabililty and strafe while staying on target - quite often you'll evade your enemies bullets and live to secure the kill.
The Skorpion's unique damage profile make it unusual in that it's probably the best SMG both at close range, and at long distance.
The only place it loses out is in the middle - outside your very short effective range you'll need to hit your opponent 5 times where with another SMG you'd only need three or four hits to kill.
The limited capacity is also a major weakness - running out of ammunition part way through a firefight can be detrimental to your health.
Still, for accurate players the Skorpion is a force to be reckoned with, and there are few SMGs as versatile. With unparalleled damage and accuracy, you'll find the Skorpion - has quite the sting.

The Skorpion is easily the most unique SMG of Black Ops.
given it isn't an SMG, the "AK74U" (actually called the AKS-74U) is more unique in my opinion. it's an assault rifle with an attachable grenade launcher. the skorpion can't do that
John Crain AK-74u can't deal a two shot to the body at close range, can't be dual wielded, and the AK-74u isn't an absolute laser. The Skorpion is, however.

John Crain Skorpion doesn't need a Grip. It's that accurate. You can also spray down enemies at long range *with* Rapid Fire on the Skorpion.

What about CoD4 Scorpion? You could kill with one headshot even without stopping power at close range :p But it fell off pretty much as quickly as the BO scorpion.

I started using the skorpion this INSTANT. I unlocked it and in FFA Nuketown... Smgs rule. The skorpion has damn good accuracy and you can move in on the target faster. You weapons guides are extremely good! How much time do you put into one guide? Man these are awesome!

I don't understand how akimbo or dual wield can be an attachment.
So true it's making a small compact 32acp/9 by 19mm smg way to overpowered. (Damn black ops) however the accuracy with the dual wield at long range is horrendous (especially with sub machine guns it just ain't gonna be suitable)
@@christmas-kun6930 I think they meant dual weilding shouldnt be called an attachment because you're not adding another gun on top of the original gun, it's just another gun.
The grip is a waste of an attachment for this gun. It has almost zero recoil to begin with. Extended mags or rapid fire are much better choices. They both add to it's killing potential.

if you compare this Ahoy to the modern one its astonishing to see how much he improved himself. In this video he sounds like he would whisper and not talk with his real voice. I guess his epic voice and word plays are heavily due to training

It makes sense for the CZ-61 to have no optic options. It would be impossible to mount an optic on. You can mount an optic, but it would block the ejection port.

if this has short range then why when i was testing the range was i still able to hit people clear across the map with it??
because it has close to no recoil and the bullets don't magically disappear like shotguns. he means the drop off if close
everything (barring shotguns) has MASSIVE RANGE im able to hit people clear across a very large map with a suppressed m1911.
Its called effective range. An m1911 isnt going to be effective against a m16

A really excellent attachment for this is Rapid Fire. Facing a skorp at close range is extremely dangerous, but once the range increases, most can escape your fire easily because of the slow ROF. But with RF you can put 5 shots into their torso in almost an instant before they can cut you down with their assault rifles or escape to cover. I use the narrator's setup with the RF as my attachment and Tacmask pro, because you become immune to tactical nades in your best environment (close range)

tac mask is a great third perk and my personal favorite, considering that the skorpion has quite a ttk disadvantage,

Black Ops' SMGs are so bad except for the AK74U, the machine pistols in MW3 are probably better than most of the SMGs in Black Ops.

The Scorpion was the first weapon I used mainly. I went with flak jacket and I forget what else. But that combination destroyed, and I loved it.

dual wield scorpions is the bane of every campers existence, lol. I usually ran dual wield with steady aim/sleight of hand or occasionally rapid fire with grip.

I tried this setup immediately after watching. I have a new favorite smg
Dual Wield is another attachment that prevents you from using a second one with Warlord. So, no you can't mix Rapid Fire with Dual Wield. If you want Dual Wield, you won't be able to use ANY other attachment, and if you want Rapid Fire, you're limited to pairing it with the Grip or Suppressor. However you really don't need either: I honestly think faster reloads with Sleight of Hand is more beneficial.

this is what i recommend: skorpion duel weild with balistic knives. this is a rushing class so you use light weight and marathon with steady aim for more accuracy cus its duel weild. use c4s a tomahawk and stun grenades. tomahawks are really good for rushing classes. the c4 is great cus of the skorpions low ammo and stun grenades slow the enemy down when their at a range too far. this is the ultimate class for free for all or tdm on small-medium maps.

This weapon, Duel Wield, Steady Aim Pro, Scavenger Pro, and Ninja Pro, I have averaged over 30 kills a battle. Run and gun, power, triple kills become more common. A great aggressive weapon.
The military automatic scorpions were built only in soviet age before the Revolution in 1989. Current CZUB make only self loading civilian scorpions 61. After the revolution the CZUB tried resurrection 61 for army and police - the Scorpion 9x19. But it was old weapon and now we have a new generation of 61 - the Scorpion EVO 3.

Don't forget: Dead Man's Hand, Final Stand, Support Package, Overpowered stealth perks, stalker, akimbo machine pistols, and the type 95
I most commonly used this as an actual long-range weapon, but I also leave Rapid Fire on so they can't rush for cover. Extended Mags of course.
i pick up so many different strategies by just watchin these videos, it makes me wanna hurry up and play it again :D

The Skorpion is BEAST with Rapid Fire!
the skorpion's grossly underrated. It doesn't need grip at all, has a rate of fire suitable for its small clip, and does decent damage. Get extended mags and sleight of hand and you have a very good weapon on par with the ARs and even superior in some cases.

@schfifty5iv no, knife range is just over 1 meter, skorpion is a 2 hit to 5 meters, and 3-4 to 10 meters, this gun is made for accurate players kind of like the m16, but with shotgun powers at close range

My favorite gun from MW, virtually one hell of a gun for any scenario. I mostly use it for a stealth role though, running around to flank and take out non vitals.

I use the skorpion quite often, but I prefer Tactical mask over hacker. Since you will be resupplying tac grenades so often if you are using scavenger pro. You should be making good use of them, and with tactical mask pro you have no fear of embarrassing yourself with an off target stun or flash grenade. Plus you get the added bonus of the yellow indicator telling you where they are.
I usually use extended mags, but sometimes I find it fun to switch it up and use warlord with grip and rapidfire.
I laughed so hard on that badass kill when you jumped out of the window, stuck a grenade on that guy and jumped back in :D

i find extended mags to be a must for any SMG that doesn't already carry a 30 round clip just so you can go bullet for bullet against people using ARs, but with a much faster rate of fire.
That's what he means. With Warlord, or even Warlord Pro, no weapon that has Rapid Fire and Extended Mags available can use both at the same time. Same with how Warlord and Warlord Pro still doesn't allow users to put on another attachment after using an under barrel attachment, like a Masterkey, Flamethrower, or Grenade Launcher.
@ollie milon It can be either. The problem with machine pistols and SMGs are that they are not easily defined. There's a fine line between them so it's up to you what to call it. My definition for a machine pistol is that if you take off the automatic fire, and if it has a functional and appearance of a standard handgun, then it's an mp. Skorpion I call it an SMG. You take off the auto fire and although may function, does not look like a traditional handgun (to me).
I love to roll with the skorpion. First time I read that it had the same damage as any shotgun (8 bars), I knew I was in love. For an unskilled player, like me with less than two days play time, the spray and pray at shotgun damage is teh awesome.
