It seems that you are very knowledgeable in the sound field and the review was very good. Nevertheless I was waiting to hear about that difference that you were able to notice versus the lady that could not find any difference between the two. Personally if the PB-4000, because of its shear power would go lower, I would definitely not mind paying the extra $400.00 and go for the PB 4000. The ultimate and most decisive quality in a subwoofer ( of course that is completely personal ) would its ability to produce a "deeply" satisfying deep notes. That is without breaking a bank or having to use a 5000 watt amp !!
I have a big big room with 10 foot ceilings, I have a pb16 ultra but I'm not happy with it, debating on keeping it and adding another pb16, or returning and getting 2 pb3000. Please help with recommendations!!
Move subwoofers for comparison by sliding them around on cardboard (assuming you won't scratch the floor). The amount of change due to floor coupleing is minimal and the same for both.
Pb3000 is great , but I will still pick the pb4000 over the pb3000,, little difference might mean a lot on some occasion. So for me, my own personal reasons,I will say it’s a win for the PB4000
With modern subs the ported for movies and sealed for music is becoming less and less relevant. Especially with SVS subs which are well designed I would go for the ported even for music to get that deeper overall bass.
Go with the PB because with the PB you can run it in sealed mode, so you get best of both worlds but if you go SB then you'll be stuck always with a sealed sub because no way you're gonna dremel holes in it to make it ported. lol
You didn’t want to move the subs...come on man. Hopefully you know just a few inches of placement can make a huge difference. Hopefully your viewers do too. Without placing them in the exact same spots, the test and video is meaningless.
Do you own one of these? When the isolation feet are installed its easy to rip them. Moving them as litttle as possible is best. I already ripped one. Thats how I found out. Thanks for the kind words....

Currently, I have a PC 2000 and in my new space the flooring is different at home and Front Forward Firing would be a much better experience. I am slightly confused on I should get the PB 3000 or PB 4000... Do you have an idea which one may work better?
The response curves on the website of SVS do NOT denote max spl. Those are response curves not how loud each sub goes. It is actually stated also that way on their website, so I don't know why you keep on mentioning it.
From 800w to 1200w is like what ? 1.5db difference if the sensitivity is the same ? Watts are relative. A 120w speaker can sound louder than a 800w one.
Your test was quick... but I believe that the filter is set to 20 Hz mode in the pb-4000 ( as you have all the port open ) which would definitely roll off earlier than the filter which is preset in the PB 3000 with two ports open ...the filters make a big difference which would make the PB 3000 sound deeper as it's standard filter does not roll off as early.. I think a better test would have been to set the pb-4000 to extended mode with two ports open also... that would have been a more even test along with the same placement of course.. I've measured myself using REW with my personal PC 4000s and the filters do make a difference definitely as far as HOW the subs roll off.... also the power output makes a difference too.. the PB 3000 May have been pushing the Driver Harder more quickly as it approaches it's compressed limits... which might explain why your couch was shaking.. maybe the standard filter setting in the PB 3000 sounds thicker than the standard setting filter in the pb-4000 which rolls off earlier... but with that said... I believe if you run at 20 Hz test tone with all ports open on both Subs separately... the pb-4000 should easily come out on top... Just my thoughts... ☺
@@CoomerGremlinDGGfan Hi Brother, before you make any changes to the filters, see how it sounds in its current position using REW with its default filters... If you're not happy with the sound... I will tell you privately what I did via Email...😃...🙏🙏🙏

Yeah you're good, well at least from upgrading to the 4000's because the upgrade is small and the biggest part of it is in looks. If you were to upgrade you'd need to go with either the 16-ultra or the new 17-ultra coming out, that is if you stay with SVS. Me, I have the same as you, I have the PB-3000 in duals don't know if you do or just have a single, but if I were to upgrade again, I say again because I upgraded to these from dual PB-2000's. So if I were to upgrade again I'd definitely wouldn't just do a small upgrade like my last, I'd be going endgame, so I'd be upgrading too dual JTR's, probably the captivator 4000's.
How important is a sub to a moderate home theatre. I am running a 3.0 with two Klipsch towers the 820f's and the matching klipsch center. I don't have a ton of room as it is a living room setup but was thinking about adding rear channels or a Sub. I like watching action movies but how much more will I get from a 12" sub vs the woofers built into floor standing speakers? Thanks
I got your exact setup but with 115sw. It makes a difference if you like a super deep bass. The way I have mine amp is full towers with the center 110hz and the 115sw at 80 and below. I like the subwoofer to blend the kick/punch with the towers. I'm seating at 14 feet away. But if I wanted to I could increase by a lot the output of the bass on the sub and it would be drastic that there is no need for the towers to throw any bass at all. But the wife does not like excessive bass, so for me it does not make a difference.

You could get a used pro amp possibly. Or try a Behringer NX1000, I believe it does about 120 Watts each channel at 8 ohms, 200 Watts at 4ohms, and 300 at 2 ohms. Or bridge both changes and it can do 600 at 4 Ohms and probably 400 at 8Ohms. So you're saying that 4000 placed randomly was able to (slightly) outperform 3000 that was placed in a corner? And you call it a close call? What the hell kind of a reviewer are you?
the one closest to the mic or the one further? mic placement will be the real test... pointless doing a comparison for people listening to the result through what ever mic setup you use. Better to have it and tell people what you hear and what you think at the time
Did you not say the PB 3000 was on a higher gain level then the PB 4000?? So the 3000 has to run higher to get the same results? There’s so many variations in this comparison, gain / placement / isolation feet, it’s never going to be equally measured. I have the PB 4000 & that thing shakes the crap out of my house, let alone the couch.
They were both normalized to the same volume. the 3000 just has to be run a little hot to reach the 4000 performance. The 4000 has more headroom though. I know Its not 100% perfect and that is why I mentioned all of that in the video. If you want, do the comparison yourself and see what you think
So this is not the first place that I heard the PB-3000 keeps up for the most part to the PB-4000. Just from you hearing these subwoofers first hand could you give me a recommendation which sub would sound better in my room. The listening area room dimensions are 14 x 22 with 7 ft ceilings. The ceiling is a drop panel ceiling and the flooring is carpeted concrete. The actual room size is pretty wide open. 14 x 39 feet. There are no stores in my area that have SVS demos☹ so there's no way audibly I would be able to hear the difference for myself unless I buy each one and send one back. Very clear and hit you in the chest bass. So, man I hope you enjoy them like do.
Pay it Forward ok thanks for the help man definitely going with this subs . I like ported subs but the ultra are just too massive for me to have in livingroom . I don’t wanna go sealed so I wanna go ported 3000 . I heard nothing but good things about them
It seems that you are very knowledgeable in the sound field and the review was very good. That is without breaking a bank or having to use a 5000 watt amp !!
yeah the ported is the way to go

Move subwoofers for comparison by sliding them around on cardboard (assuming you won't scratch the floor). The amount of change due to floor coupleing is minimal and the same for both.
Pb3000 is great , but I will still pick the pb4000 over the pb3000,, little difference might mean a lot on some occasion. So for me, my own personal reasons,I will say it’s a win for the PB4000
Good video, any reason to consider a pair of SB3000s over a pair of PB3000s? Will be used for music and movies.
And that’s what she said
Do you own one of these? When the isolation feet are installed its easy to rip them. Moving them as litttle as possible is best. I already ripped one. Thats how I found out. Thanks for the kind words....
Yes I do and have had multiple models. And I use the feet. And that doesn’t change the facts. If you can’t do it alone, get help. It must be done for good results.
@@cigarobsession i dont know how many people you think I have in the house. Its just me and the pregnant wife, I know it can be done for best comparision, but it didnt happen. If you want it done then please do it yourself and share your opinions.

I enjoy all your content... I stumbled upon your video because I am in the market for upgrading my subwoofer... Currently, I have a PC 2000 and in my new space the flooring is different at home and Front Forward Firing would be a much better experience. I am slightly confused on I should get the PB 3000 or PB 4000... Do you have an idea which one may work better?
get the biggest you are comfortable with. You can never have too much
The response curves on the website of SVS do NOT denote max spl. Those are response curves not how loud each sub goes.
It is actually stated also that way on their website, so I don't know why you keep on mentioning it.
Ten inches from a corner makes a huge difference
From 800w to 1200w is like what ? 1.5db difference if the sensitivity is the same ?
Watts are relative. A 120w speaker can sound louder than a 800w one.
Indeed.
the 3000 is more efficient, so actually the extra 1/2 inch driver, but mostly the giant cabinet size contribute to the 4000 being more powerful.
Interesting

I have the pb3000 and thinking of trading up to 4000 duals but theyre telling me im good with the 3000
Yeah you're good, well at least from upgrading to the 4000's because the upgrade is small and the biggest part of it is in looks.
What HZ do you have your subs set at in your av reciever mate

You could get a used pro amp possibly.
Or try a Behringer NX1000, I believe it does about 120 Watts each channel at 8 ohms, 200 Watts at 4ohms, and 300 at 2 ohms.
Or bridge both changes and it can do 600 at 4 Ohms and probably 400 at 8Ohms. (There's a Dyno of the old model, but the new NX is just a reskin)
