The PB3000 is a godsend. A grand buys you a totally awesome audioiphile sub that is compact too. I just got an SB3000 to replace my 15 year old 15" sub. The SB outperforms it, and super costly subs from just a few years ago. I chose the SB, I much prefer sealed subs for my medium room applications. I feel that they have better musicality (musical quality/articulation/definition) than just sheer boom. If I had a larger room, I might use ported for HT. Meanwhile, the output is unholy for such a compact sub.
The min you said you tested out Edge of Tomorrow - that pretty much makes this review completely legit. Most people going for all this newer Atmos and yes they are good but that DTS track of Edge of Tomorrow is crazy good.
I just got my dual pb3000's and on this video they look small. Before I got them I was kind of skeptical and was hoping I would be impressed compared to what I had. But when they are in person they are very impressive in size, quite large especially when I compared them to my old Polk PSW505. I ran the same test he did and things didn't just rattle, EVERYTHING RATTLED even parts of the foundation/walls. These are insanely impressive. Overkill for an apartment but will be moving soon LOL.
I was honestly quite impressed with my PSW505 for the money, it hit those low rumbling notes pretty well which is what I look for... how does the PB-3000 compare overall? Is it a massive difference?
I'm contemplating upgrading my dual PB-1000's (2016 version, not pro) to dual PB-3000's. I love the look of it, and that excursion is just magnificent. Going from 300W RMS to 800W RMS is almost triple the power, I know that won't equal triple increase in volume, but it will most likely be a significant upgrade. I see PB-1000's still go for $400 used here in norway ($700 new), so hoping to get some back for mine even though they're "old"
The graphs on SVS's website are only base frequency response graphs, definitely not max output graphs (and they state this on their site). The level is only whatever is needed to be high enough above the noise floor on that particular day of testing the DUT.I think the PB-3000 probably has something like 2-3dB less MAX output under 40Hz, but closes the gap above that when compared to the PB-4000

Not sure if you are still responding to comments on this video, but if you are, where is your volume at (both on the AVR and on the sub itself) during the 10:05 mark when the PB 3000 is blowing crazy air like that? Do you have it pegged out?
I currently have a Paradigm Studio Sub 12, it's a pretty decent unit but drops off dramatically once you get near 20hz. I've been considering a SB 3000 to replace it, will the low end of the SB 3000 outperform the sub 12?
I LUUUUUUVE MY MONITOR AUDIO BRONZE SUBBWOOFER,IN MY BEDROOM AS PART OFF A 7,1 4KUHD SURROUND SOUND,WATCHED GEOSTORM IN BLUE RAY AND THE MONITOR SUBBWOOFER WAS DEEP CLEAN AND PURE BLISSFULL BASS.💪💪😉✌👌
Did the PB hit those lower notes better being ported? Depth and room shaking rumbling is what I'm looking for on my next sub... I had a Polk PSW505 and honestly I really liked it, but it would cut out at the deepest notes and eventually the amp blew after a ton of use
I'm not really clear after seeing this review when the SB-3000 is good vs when someone really should step up to the PB-3000. Any advise on this? E.g. Room sizes over X size should go ported, if you listen to a lot of music you should go sealed, etc?
i liked how you explained the transience/speed difference between the sealed and ported i suspect i will be mostly using for surround music as i have invested a lot in my surround music collection, and music i repeat listen for years,i rarely watch a movie twice, but i do love movies too i suspect sealed may be the ticket for me due to your descriptions, but i wonder how close to the speed and transience i would get with the ported if i used the seal plugs? Would they be an even match? i ask because i am confused by the 400.00 difference between the 2 SB and PB,they appear the exact same except for size and sealed or ported What is the extra 400.00 getting me with the ported? Cheers
its worth it. buy both if you have the funds and do a side by side test for yourself. I upgraded from the sealed to ported and never looked back. You can slightly increase the transience when plugging the ports and changing the setting on the amp to sealed mode
Great review.. I've got a single svs pb13 ultra with a Bash amp that I'm looking at changing to a sledge amp.. Also looking at trying to grab a second pb13 ultra if I can find one cheap enough.. Would this be the best option for me or look at replacing with a pair of the newer 3000 models or stick with the 13s?thanks
Hey great channel. Currently wrestling with which sub to buy. Pb2000 pro or pb3000. Currently have older Polk psw10 in a room about 14.5x 16.5x 8. Watch tv, movies and listen to music. Room opens up to another room.
Would you say 2 pb3000 will give you more tactile bass or 1 pb16ultra? I currently own 1 pb3000 and wanted a little more umph. Was going to either buy another pb3000 or return the current one I have and get a pb16ultra. Thanks!
How much low end performance do you think you would lose going from an old style 325watt PB12-NSD (or a PB2000 if you've never heard those) to the sealed SB3000? For strictly movies, do you think the SB3000 would be an upgrade or a downgrade over the PB12 in an open style living room setting (2800^3 ft) if listening at moderate volume levels (around -20 on the AVR)?
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude mine is from 2008. They updated the model around 2012 I believe, then replaced the model completely with the PB2000. Also they still sell a limited amount of the discontinued PB12-NSD's during black friday in the US. Mine has their older driver and a 325watt BASH amp.
oh yeaahhhh i forgot. The 400w pb12-nsd was awesome. It had tons of room filing bass and dug deep down to the equator. The pb-2000 is the replacement of the pb12 and it has even more output. You will definitely noticed a big upgrade in overall soundscape if you upgrade.
Im selling my SB16. Now i dont know which i should take.. SB2000 or SB3000 I had the 2000 before the SB16 and had no Problems but wanted the App Control. Dont know how the Amps are
If i remember correct they may be adding something to the older subs for app control later on in the year, but the 3000 is plenty. It gives you the slam when you need it and the quiet notes for music too.
Hello…thinking about getting the pb3000 I have svs ultras towers already gloss black ones . Wish they had the pb3000s in same glossy black but oh well .I also have the svs prime center wish I had the ultra one but got to expensive at the time so I’m definitely now about to pull the trigger on one pb3000 as I would have all svs great speakers. Thank for your time an I will subscribe to your channel as well niceeee review keep up the nice work👍🏻Happy holidays take care .
You should do a SB-3000 vs PB-3000 with plugged ports. Sealed subwoofers are always preferred, if you focus on music performance. If PB-3000 performs well in both plugged/unplugged, it makes more sense in a dual purpose home theater.
I just bought the SB-3000 not long ago, and set it up using only using the manual rear controls, so far. Why? Because SVS wants you to give their app PERMISSION to access your LOCATION? Now why in the hell does SVS need to know that? They DON'T.
When I did car systems, a 10" or 12" sub usually put out more sound than a 15". The 15" hit lower and shook more, but pure SPL usually went to the smaller speaker with the same power. I love sealed boxes, I am a huge Chicago fan and sealed just sounds so much better for music. After watching this video though, I love ported as well. It was awesome to see the carpet strands move from the air moved out the ports, the 4000 series was just plain impressive. What do you think about Parasound home amps ? I am looking at a 180w or 280w @ 8 ohm bridged mono amp to run my 12" Alpine Type R sub. it unfortunately looks like the giveaway sub video won't hit 25k for a while and I found a good deal on the amp. I wish I had the money for the PB-3000 as it would be great ported for movies and then sealed for music.
Hopefully the giveaway video with mature soon. Its past half way. The parasound a31 amplifier is amazing. Im actually going to be reviewing the A51 and A52+ really soon. I cant wait. The amp is powerful and brings a strong and warm soundscape to the speakers. I wish I could keep it.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude Know anything about Parasound HCA-800 or the smaller HCA-600 ? I just looked up the models you mentioned. Yeah, $3000-$5000 is not anywhere in my price range. I can get the models I mentioned around $150 or less and can get the HCA-800 locked in Standby mode real cheap. ( I fix electronics and know of a few problems these have )
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude A few of the caps are the typical problem. I will likely replace them all while I would have it apart. They seem to be regarded well and most hifi reviews say you need to step up to 2x to 3x the price to get better. I am looking at a NAD amp as well. How about Adcom GFA-2. It was tested at around 170w at 4 ohms so 340w combined in a dual voice coil 4 ohm 12" sub.
Great Review, decided to go with one PB3000 for now, its crazy, shakes the whole house. I will end up duals for sure, just spreading the wealth out a bit. I can get a great deal on 2 of the SB16 ultras, would be about 400 more total, do you think dual SB16 ultras can still tackle the low end in movies ? if you had to choose from 2 x PB3000 or 2 x SB16 Ultra, which would you go with ? I like the PB3000 but deep down, I love the 8" voice coil technology and they don't stick out as far from the wall as the PB3000
Awsome video! If I ever would upgrade my pb12 nsd, I think I would get this or maybe the 4000 for the look but I will be getting a Denon x6300h in the mail! Atmos and DTS:X here we come! So hyped! I might need to invest in some elevations from svs XD
I'm conflicted I want to upgrade from what I have 2X Martin Logan Dynamo700's I feel they don't exactly get me where I would like and I have been looking at SVS for almost 2 years now but can't make the decision on what to get. So I will ask you this would 1 sb3000 be enough to replace my dual set up or should I look at getting 2? Second question would be should I get SB or PB I can never make up my mind on the 2. I got to factor the price difference too for the PB. Again would 1 be ok maybe 2 of them would be overkill? my theatre set up is in a box room of 20X20 I run all high end stuff for a normal guy but I've always had the feeling I either made the wrong choice with my dual Logan's even if they sound great they just feel like they don't stand out as much as the rest of my system. Thanks for taking time to help me out as it's a good investment to change subwoofers especially when you're running a dual set-up.
for a space that big you may want to look into two. you dont have to do it all at once. especially if price is a factor. For larger spaces I always say that the ported versions work best. You can also seal the ports and switch the sub to "Sealed" mode to help get that sealed sound. I dont believe in overkill. If you have your system setup proper there is no such thing. My room is never obnoxious and it sounds as good or better than the movie theaters. You local? I can send you a link to buy if youd like
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude I'm in Canada so don't think I'm local to you but as far as price I don't think I'm getting a deal but I can get the 2000 for 1080$ Canadian free shipping plus taxes. I didn't think my room was considered big but from what I've picked up in the last weeks is the 2000 would be my best choice and yes I could invest in a second one down the road if needed. Thanks for the fast response!
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude am I getting a good price for the PB-2000? I have another question for you I want to add bipolar surround speakers and really not sure what to get do you have any suggestions for me? I would love to get the SVS ultimate but not ready to dish out 800$ on a pair of surround speakers I would prefer staying in the 500$ or less number after all they only push out background sound and not as important as the towers and centre speaker. I am running high end towers and centre and have pretty good mono rears I don't want cheap stuff but I don't need to go as expensive for those speakers.
Many thanks for your review! it is very well done, you have a new fan from France now:) I am very interested in the SB-3000 in white gloss special edition because it is the only one also fitting perfectly my furniture. Do you think I can mix it with a "Focal Sub 1000f" on Yamaha RXA-2080 (real 7.2 I think)? I would like to avoid selling my Focal which is pretty good. I'm torn on which to get. I want a sub that is both great for music and movies. I listen to a lot of electronic, deep house, hip/hop and rap music with a lot of low extended bass. Which sub would you recommend between the SB-3000 or the PB-3000? It will be for my bedroom which is about 20x10 ft.

84lbs vs 150+ lbs and my theater is upstairs? hmmmmm :) and YEAH those RF-7 III's are gorgeous and huge! :)
And bass is only into the 30's, not even close.
I’d like to see a comparison with the Monolith by Monoprice subwoofers because those are beasts.
They declined to work with me. I tried though
Can you share clip Egypt tomorrow to test subwoofers?
Beeeeeeeen waiting for this one! Great video as usual bro👍
Did the PB hit those lower notes better being ported? Depth and room shaking rumbling is what I'm looking for on my next sub... I had a Polk PSW505 and honestly I really liked it, but it would cut out at the deepest notes and eventually the amp blew after a ton of use
ported are tuned slightly lower and will deliver more output than the sealed versions.
I'm not really clear after seeing this review when the SB-3000 is good vs when someone really should step up to the PB-3000. Any advise on this? E.g. Room sizes over X size should go ported, if you listen to a lot of music you should go sealed, etc?
sealed is great for music. you can listen to music ported too. its not sloppy
i liked how you explained the transience/speed difference between the sealed and ported
i suspect i will be mostly using for surround music as i have invested a lot in my surround music collection, and music i repeat listen for years,i rarely watch a movie twice, but i do love movies too
i suspect sealed may be the ticket for me due to your descriptions, but i wonder how close to the speed and transience i would get with the ported if i used the seal plugs? Would they be an even match?
i ask because i am confused by the 400.00 difference between the 2 SB and PB,they appear the exact same except for size and sealed or ported
What is the extra 400.00 getting me with the ported?
Cheers
its worth it. buy both if you have the funds and do a side by side test for yourself. I upgraded from the sealed to ported and never looked back. You can slightly increase the transience when plugging the ports and changing the setting on the amp to sealed mode
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude Thank you
Great review..
I have a PSA XV15 and it has great bass! But I would love to have one of those svs subs! Awesome vid!
Hey great channel. Currently wrestling with which sub to buy. Pb2000 pro or pb3000. Currently have older Polk psw10 in a room about 14.5x 16.5x 8. Watch tv, movies and listen to music. Room opens up to another room.
id go pb-3000. give me a shout if you wanna buy one 972-322-4607
might add a pair of these with my pb-1000 get that 4 bass going!!!
Always with excellent reviews. Great video.
Is that sound alright? At 10:10 ? That's fine?
Sounded normal to me.
Hi what you recommend PB 2000 or SB 3000 ?
sb-3k. its powerful and precise
Would you say 2 pb3000 will give you more tactile bass or 1 pb16ultra? I currently own 1 pb3000 and wanted a little more umph. Was going to either buy another pb3000 or return the current one I have and get a pb16ultra. Thanks!
get the 16. youll be happy you did
How much low end performance do you think you would lose going from an old style 325watt PB12-NSD (or a PB2000 if you've never heard those) to the sealed SB3000? For strictly movies, do you think the SB3000 would be an upgrade or a downgrade over the PB12 in an open style living room setting (2800^3 ft) if listening at moderate volume levels (around -20 on the AVR)?
how old we talking? i had the pb12-nsd a year and a half ago
SB 3000 + DSPeaker anti mode = perfection
Really?
Im selling my SB16.
Now i dont know which i should take.. SB2000 or SB3000 I had the 2000 before the SB16 and had no Problems but wanted the App Control.
Dont know how the Amps are
If i remember correct they may be adding something to the older subs for app control later on in the year, but the 3000 is plenty. It gives you the slam when you need it and the quiet notes for music too.
The SB2000 and SB3000 actually sound very similar. They are both fantastic subs; you won't go wrong with either one.
@@classicgalactica5879 So, if I don't need that much power, I can go for 2000 without sound quality loss?
great stuff, really appreciate your videos
It looks like the cone on the sealed cabinet is moving a LOT less than the ported cabinets. 👀
I bet they would really thump and would love to hear them in action next.
Hey which subwoofer do u recommend svs PB-1000 vs klipsch spl 12 120?
Pb1000
Love the video would love it if you make a budget-friendly Home theater audio system video under 1500 dollars
th-cam.com/video/jUo15g2DdO8/w-d-xo.html I have done it before but I can try again
Nice review always detail on everything equipment keep it up👍👍👍👍
Dont have the space for a ported sub is the sb 3000 be good for home theater
SB-3000 good of movies, great for music. I have two.
You should do a SB-3000 vs PB-3000 with plugged ports.
Sealed subwoofers are always preferred, if you focus on music performance.
If PB-3000 performs well in both plugged/unplugged, it makes more sense in a dual purpose home theater.
Missed opportunity. I already sent them back. I didnt a plugged and ported on the 3000 vs 4000 though th-cam.com/video/Fz8zdqi2gkU/w-d-xo.html
I just bought the SB-3000 not long ago, and set it up using only using the manual rear controls, so far. Why? Because SVS wants you to give their app PERMISSION to access your LOCATION? Now why in the hell does SVS need to know that? They DON'T.
SB3000 all the way. Look how flappy the PB3000 is. No control being ported.
you base performance off of flappiness?
( I fix electronics and know of a few problems these have )
I havent tried those but if they were made past 1991 they should be excellent quality. Im sure you know to replace the capacitors ever 5-10 years
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude A few of the caps are the typical problem.
I have an arcam P1000. Do you think you could check it over?
Great Review, decided to go with one PB3000 for now, its crazy, shakes the whole house. I will end up duals for sure, just spreading the wealth out a bit. I can get a great deal on 2 of the SB16 ultras, would be about 400 more total, do you think dual SB16 ultras can still tackle the low end in movies ? if you had to choose from 2 x PB3000 or 2 x SB16 Ultra, which would you go with ?
I like the PB3000 but deep down, I love the 8" voice coil technology and they don't stick out as far from the wall as the PB3000
two 3000s. They have crazy output and are very good for movies.
Awsome video! If I ever would upgrade my pb12 nsd, I think I would get this or maybe the 4000 for the look but I will be getting a Denon x6300h in the mail! Atmos and DTS:X here we come! So hyped! I might need to invest in some elevations from svs XD
Cool!. Let me know and i can send you a link for a set of the prime elevations. I just ordered my 3rd set :)
3rd set? Where will you be putting them man haha. Also i live in the Netherlands so i dont think that the link will work?
Thanks for the fast response!
yeah buddy. my room is 17x18 and the 3000 fills the space pretty well
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude and you have just 1?
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude am I getting a good price for the PB-2000? I have another question for you I want to add bipolar surround speakers and really not sure what to get do you have any suggestions for me? I would love to get the SVS ultimate but not ready to dish out 800$ on a pair of surround speakers I would prefer staying in the 500$ or less number after all they only push out background sound and not as important as the towers and centre speaker. I am running high end towers and centre and have pretty good mono rears I don't want cheap stuff but I don't need to go as expensive for those speakers.
does someone has any measurements to compare against the SB2000?
Many thanks for your review! it is very well done, you have a new fan from France now:) I am very interested in the SB-3000 in white gloss special edition because it is the only one also fitting perfectly my furniture. Do you think I can mix it with a "Focal Sub 1000f" on Yamaha RXA-2080 (real 7.2 I think)? I would like to avoid selling my Focal which is pretty good. I hope the SB-3000 could bring me more deep bass with its 18Hz frequency but not sure if playing both together would work properly? Thanks in advance for your advices:) Do you ship to France? (SVS 500 $ much cheaper in US lucky you:)!)
you can mix and match. id say stay sealed or stay ported and make sure phase is aligned properly
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude many thanks for your prompt answer. I will go for it and reply when my neighbours will knock on the door😄
buddy should i get the sb-3000 or pb -3000
i love the ported version. both are great. The 3000 has tons of output and its fast
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude my room is small its only 16x9
yeah, then i would go sealed. Ported sounds great and has a fair amount of output
Please do a monolith 15 review
i just got it wednesday. should be up soon :)
Can you review bksound monolith sub? Its a Company from Uk. Would be cool .
ask them to send me some
Great Video, thanks!
They sound incredible. Now I have to talk the wife to let me get one or two.
Good luck brother. If you get the green light let me know. I can send you links to buy. It really help out
Let you? I don't get what you mean, you are the man of the relationship aren't you?
@@randysalsman6992 Bet his house is Pink lol, I never understood that wife acceptance factor thing. Should have married someone else. My wife loves jamming out to my system. Told my wife I just ordered 2 svspb3000's she said cool are they louder? My response, oh yeah.
Dual PB 3000 or one PB 16 ultra?
How big is your room? Do you sit in one spot or multiple?
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude 2400 cubic feet. I only sit in one spot but obviously id have guests. Leaning 3000s
yeah 3000s for sure
Pb 3000 or 2 sb 200? Rooms18x13x9
What is better 3000 pro 4000 ???
depends on your room. the 4000 has more output. If you have a small to medium room i would say go w the 3000 go more if you have more
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude
Hey thanks My room habe 5x6 Meter is the 4000 to great???
yeah that should be fine
I like how you faded in . in the beginning
hahahaha. I didnt think anyone would notice
My room is 22’x24’x 6’ 2” ceilings
Isn't the pb-3000 bottoming out ?
Also holy shit, how can the pb-16-ultra has soo much port noise ?
I didnt notice it bottoming out. It has alot of x max. The microphone picks up different things than we hear though. Just on that scene the 16 has a fair amount of port noise. The 3000 had minimal and the 4000 was more towards the 3000 than 16
What about the sb4000 vs the sb3000?
No dice. I sent that sb-4000 back last year. Maybe I can check out new subs to demo for you guys
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude as you have had both subs,
in your opinion how close does the sb3000 come to the sb4000?
The 3000 hits like a 18-wheeler,. I would say you arent missing much my going with the 3000. Transience is vastly improved over the 4000 series and the 4000 was great already. Im really liking the 3000s right now.
