Is the 2020 Nissan Sentra SV a BETTER value than a Civic or Corolla?

  • The ALL NEW Sentra has arrived and it is ready to be the compact car king. It's exterior has been enlarged and re-shaped to make it look like a mini Maxima. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 that produces 149HP & mated to a CVT. On the inside you will see a highly improved interior with full leather seating and a ton of safety features. Is the redesigned 2020 Nissan Sentra a BETTER compact car to buy?

This is not the base trim. The "S" trim is the base model. Which has steel wheel hub caps, single zone climate. This is the mid-level "SV" trim. "SR" is the top trim.

CVT is still weak. If you maintain cvt with every 25k miles or 30k kms rather than factory recommended protocol, then it should be okay. Still, CVT is very weak and plague with problems as today and not durable at all.

Actually the base model is the S trim, which doesn't come with an 8 inch infotainment system, remote start or SiriusXM. SV is the mid level. And I bet the SV will be the volume seller out of the S and SR.

I hear so much negative comments about the CVT . Back in 2012 I drove a rental Altima with a CVT. Not my first choice but the ride was very smooth . I floared it once and never again because I thought I would blow up the engine . Apparently the simulated shifts make the CVT more attractive. When it comes to reliability I don't know. Is it really that bad ? Hands off or hands on ?

    • @jraheemjefcoat429

It's Nissan CVT is bad. Their several lawsuits that Nissan owners filed because their CVT goes bad after 60k miles. Also Nissan are facing bankruptcy. Google the info.

@@jraheemjefcoat429 I wouldn't want to buy a car where transmission failures are common. I guess Nissan doesn't stand for reliability.

The SV isn't the base model, the S is, but half of the SV and SR models on the lots seem to have premium packages, and this doesn't, so it is pretty close to the bottom.

Wear and tear on expensive starter and other components. Also, at long lights, in warm climates, the air conditioning turns off, as well, leaving only the fan.
