    My mother bought the first generation Sentra in 1982. $6,622 out the door as a base model with the only option being side bumper strips and a 3-speed AT w/torque converter lock up feature. No AC, no radio. Back then entry level cars didn't have leather options. The fully loaded edition went for somewhere between $5795 (on sale) to $7,250 with all the bells and whistles. Great little car. Over the 9 years she owned it there was never one time it failed. The only unscheduled maintenance came when a smart ass gas attendant stuffed a credit card receipt in the tank before filling it up. It cost her nothing because they were able to figure out where it had happened. The station manager/owner paid for the repairs and fired the attendant. Tires and tune ups were the only expenses over 75,000 miles of ownership.

      @Haidar Mohammed Only time will tell about reliability. Honda isn't what they used to be either. Also, the engaging and faster crap you talk about with the Civic only applies to the higher end sport trims which I'm sure the Sentra will get soon. The NISMO Sentra could easily compete head on with the Civic SR. The Civic is just so ugly though and their interiors suck.

      I have a 2012 with the cvt transmission and it runs great after 135,000 miles. I take very good care of it and do all the regularly scheduled maintenance. That especially includes religiously changing the transmission fluid every 55-60,000 miles.
      The thing with cvt, in my experience, is you have to adjust how you on and off the gas. I feel like I have to let the transmission “catch up” when I’m coming out of a turn before hitting the gas again. If I don’t, it acts real sluggish and feels like the engine is fighting itself.
      Other than that, this little car is a beast. I take good care of it, but I drive it like I would a sports car. It handles well and is sporty.
      And despite what some haters may say, I love it. I could afford a nicer car, but when I got it, I lived in a city with street parking only. Made no sense to buy a super nice car to sit outside and get dinged by people trying to park. Plus, it was small and fit the tight spaces easier. Aaaand it’s paid off and still runs great. Why get a car note if you don’t need to? Sounds like someone needs to watch some Dave Ramsey videos instead of trying to floss to impress a bunch of people who at the end of the day really don’t care.
      All the best!

    Renault engines in America must be low grade. In UK Nissans with Renault engines are best selling SUVs for over 5 years. Renault engines must be of cheaper quality for American markets and its had no major issues in UK. Obviously Nissan made engines are a lifetime reliability, one of the top three most reliable engines in the world. Most people buying Nissans have no idea of the engines unless they done their homework.

      In the USA, we always get the leftovers or left out. Nissan has been the bottom of the barrel in the USA of japanese automakers. Sad really that we dont get the same quality. At this point, they could polish a turd and it have everything I'm looking for, but I would not touch it because nissan screws up a great car with a unreliable cvt transmission. I have a 13 sentra at 100000 miles. transmission is fine. Its the dealers that cause these cars to break. I got my transmission fluid changed at the dealer and they put universal snake oil CVT fluid in my transmission, had to contact Nissan to get them to put original fluid inside. Now im sure some aftermarket CVT fluid are good, but using a mass produced generic fluid out of Texas that they use in lube shops to rip off customers are not helping your customers. The sad part it was "Approved" by Nissan. I'll never buy another Nissan. I also don't drive it likes a sports car. Its a tiny 4 cylinder, that's slow. that's it. Do an Italian tuneup every once and awhile, blow out some carbon, then drive like grandpa.

  • @JohnnyUkeOfficial
    @JohnnyUkeOfficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Although I'm not the biggest fan of Nissan CVTs, it's really the way you drive one. If you floor it all the time in the CVT, you'll wear out the pulleys. I would also suggest changing out the transmission fluid every 35k miles on a CVT to keep it in tip top shape. With that said I'd prefer a standard automatic transmission even if it means taking a hit at the gas pump. Just a bit more reliable and less maintenance.

    Its a really good looking car. Even though the CVTs are better than before,I'd still prefer a regular A/T or a manual. I really wish Nissan would offer a normal transmission with their new sedans. That would be a great way for them to realise the CVT is not a favourite.

  • @tommurphy4307
    @tommurphy4307 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    i have a CVT and ME-20. i like the CVT, but you have to learn how to drive two-toed and trailbrake with it to get really good mpg's. also some parameters are adjustable within the transmission control firmware- see a tech who has the CVT cert.

    At this point Nissan just needs to move on from CVTs , other companies are getting great MPG with regular transmissions by adding gears and also adding a turbos. CVTs just take the fun out of cars.

    • @liddlebopeep
      @liddlebopeep 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love the design of this car, its just unfortunate that this car can't be had in a manual for those who don't want to deal with a CVT. Granted, a CVT is perfect for this segment, however, Nissan's CVT's have been notorious for poor reliability. I would love if Nissan had a nismo version of this sentra and gave it like 300 HP.

    I wish they’d stop making cvt transmissions. I would never buy or advice anyone to buy Nissan cvt vehicles. I had Nissan Altima 2010, transmission went out at 97k miles. Nissan replaced for free, then again the transmission went out again 168k miles. This time with no warranty, I had to junk the car($4000 new one, $2800 rebuild)wasn’t worthy for car with 170k miles.
